If I could give this airline zero stars I would the level of service that was provided today was horrible imagine arriving for an international flight 6:30am and the airline never notified the passengers in advance that they delayed the flight until 12noon ok so we wait they board us on the plane and let us sit not going anywhere stuck in the plane for 4 hours due to «mechanical difficulties and air traffic» they finally let us off the plane the time is now 4pm and they announce we will let you know the status of your flight at 7:30pm ok we wait 3 ½ more hours …13 hours total wasted for the flight to be cancelled and no customer service rep available to assist in the refund process best advice they had is we have another flight tomorrow at 8:15am …yeah right never again will I attempt to travel with them ever

Our flight was initially delayed due to storms the evening before which is against their control and obviously not their fault. But that is no reason for the crew to be miserable and rude. The passengers were the ones inconvenienced and stuck waiting for hours on end, while the crew had their ten hours mandatory rest. The company needs to teach their staff manners and how to be professionals.
The staff working at the check-​in desk were pleasant and helpful. Very professional! Passengers were given $ 12 vouchers to use in the terminal for breakfast.
The stewardesses on the other hand are extremely miserable. No smiles or hellos when we boarded. The scowls on their faces totally read «I hate my job» and «I do not want to assist you in any way».
The plane is extremely old, dirty, and hot. And the airline has some ridiculous rule that all the shades have to be open as per their safety procedures. That is fine and we would have been happy to abide, but once we begin to take off, NOT for the 60+ minutes we are sitting in the hot sun before we even begin to taxi. My friend told them she prefers to wait until we start moving to open it since there is NO a/​c and she is dizzy from being so hot and they proceeded to ignore her and persistently tell her to raise the shade. She asked if they could out the air on and they mumbled that it would get cooler when we start to move. They totally missed their opportunity to provide proper customer service and offer her ice water and/​or an ice pack.
After two hours of sitting on the plane for a mechanical problem we were finally served refreshments, but then they stopped half way through because we were going to start to taxi. An hour later we still haven’t gone anywhere. Never again.

We thought we were getting a deal booking through Cayman Airways, but then wished we spent a little bit more to go with any other airline. We followed all the proper procedures to get our pet cat vaccinated and registered to ride in the cabin with us, but got a heavy surprise in Grand Cayman when they took our baby and killed her. We would’ve done anything to work with Mr. Hansraj in Customs, but Dornah Jackson, Duty Manager from Cayman Airways, refused to accommodate Custom’s request and signed a document giving permission to Customs to have our cat euthanized. We have tried contacting Cayman Airways regarding this injustice, but it seems they are not taking any responsibility for their actions, and will not return our calls. If you are travelling with your pet, or don’t want to profit a company who would do this to their customers, DO NOT fly with Cayman Airways!

They let you switch seats randomly when there are empty seats on the plane. The staff is so friendly, they took pictures for us by Sir Turtle outside the plane.
Cayman Airways always serves a meal from NYC to Grand Cayman. My friends took American Airlines and JetBlue and neither received meals. Cayman Airways also allowed 2 free bags when everyone else just had 1. All things to consider when picking an Airline!

Pitbull may run MIA but I didn’t feel like stopping over there when Cayman Airways offers a direct flight from JFK to Grand Cayman. During the shoulder season, this flight leaves on a Sunday at 9am and return service is Saturday 9pm.
During peak season there are many more direct flights available from JFK to GCM.
But what really sets Cayman Airways apart from the competition and compels me to create a Unilocal entry for a new business is the simple fact that…
They serve food during this flight! Yes, actual food and not just bags of chips, nuts, hybrid pretzel-​cracker beasts and other residue from the bottom of the cracker barrel.
I was initially skeptical of the travel info confirm that said ‘breakfast’ included on the flight. I even had to ask the clerk at the check-​in counter and she confirmed breakfast was served.
Yeah right, probably a handful of nuts served before noon and they call it breakfast.
But no, about 30 minutes into our flight the friendly flight attendants started rolling out the carts of boxed breakfasts and we were even given a choice of cereal or a turkey croissant.
I chose the latter and was amazed at the novelty of breakfast for a 4 hour flight. The well organized plastic box included the croissant but also a fruit cup and nutrigrain bar. And I enjoyed every bite!
The captain on this flight was also an armchair tour guide, informing us of landmarks visible from the window, such as Cape Canaveral or the island of Cuba.
My sad return to the States was slightly ameliorated by dinner service of jerk chicken, peas ‘n rice and a dinner roll (with butter). About the size of a lean cuisine frozen dinner, the dinner was surprisingly good.
No onboard built –in TVs for entertainment or wifi, just yet. The plane is a Boeing 737 so not the most modern of fleets. On the flight back, the AC didn’t kick in for about 20 minutes which generated a near panic amongst the passenger community. (I actually enjoyed the warmer temp as it reminded me of the beach.) This did prompt an apology from the captain who whisked us back to JFK about 45 minutes earlier than expected.
Our checked baggage was promptly available at both GCM and JFK airports so no problems there.
So besides the obvious plus of taking you to the island paradise of Grand Cayman, Cayman Airways will feed you as well. I feel like booking my next trip already.
