History
Established in 2008.
Exoterra is Latin for «out of Earth.» It is the foundational principle of this firm; essential to what we do, how we live and what legacy we leave behind. It implies a thoughtfulness about nature, ecology, economy, conservation and preservation.
Exoterra Solutions was founded by J. Mark West, AIA in January of 2008 to address a well defined void in green building services and to create a business model not hampered by traditional
barriers and expectations of typical architectural practices. After working for multiple companies in two
states, and after leading various project teams through the certification of multiple LEED commercial
building projects, it became evident that the only way to continue to promote green building and related
services was to create a company focused on accomplishing just that.
