Wisberg and Daughter Locksmith

Scam. Simple as that. Was locked out as my front door lock broke. As quoted $ 35 site visit and $ 65 service call. Guy showed up quickly enough. 2 hours later after nothing but drilling of the lock he still did not get me in… he is a «locksmith»…what he specializes in, and more importantly why he charges customers.
I broke my door in. He charged $ 400.00 and only took cash.
I called the next day to complain and was told I would hear from «customer service» in 48 hours… odd how they can be at my place in 15 minutes to take my money but it takes 48 hours to reply to a complaint. Called 3 days later and was told «good luck» when I told them I was calling Division of Consumer Affairs.
Too bad for them they did not know my mother in law works for NJ Dept of treasury (sure hope the $ 400 was declared as income). Guess what? My father in law works for NJ Dept of Consumer Affairs!

They WILL take you to the cleaners!
They first told me it was $ 39 for the locksmith to come out and an additional $ 65 – 75 to open the door. The technician comes asks me if I’m in a rush, I said «yes» (my first mistake) He then tells me it is $ 179 on top of the $ 39. WTF?!
I told him they said it was $ 65 – 75 and asked him to explain to me why it would cost more. He says it’s a commercial building. I said people live here, I live here, I want to get into my home! He then says it’s a special lock, I said it’s a standard home lock. He had no answer, just said that it’s $ 179 to open the door, take it or leave it. He first tried to pick the lock… he looked like he was going through the motions, not really knowing what he’s doing. Then he says he’s got to drill the lock.
He said 10 – 15 minutes. It took him 45 minutes to get through one simple deadbolt lock.
After he’s done, he adds on another $ 45 saying that to open up the bottom door knob he has to charge extra. At this point, I’m pretty angry, but keep my cool.
He give me the bill which he adds tax and the total is $ 280, but then slips in,
«IF you pay me in CASH, I’ll waive the $ 50 and charge you $ 230 for the whole deal.»
I called this place thinking it had better ratings, but was I wrong.
The phone rep, the technician, NO ONE can give me a straight answer on how their pricing works.
Someone please tell me an honest locksmith company… please.
The other reviews that said these guys do honest professional work? Uh… right.
BTW, this place is also the same business as Wisberg and Daughter Locksmith in Hoboken, NJ. Can’t be trusted.

The door handle on my front door broke right off. I guess i dont know my own strength.
It probably was for the best. I really needed my door handle switched out and stuff.
There was no reason to think that hard about this sort of stuff. I called this locksmith cause a friend had spoke about how great they were.
It made sense and stuff. The got there and switched out my door handle and lock. The door is working better than and I feel safer. the price was a bit high. That was then and I am safer now.

I thought they could have done a better job. At this price they probably should have gotten there sooner. I found myself waiting a long time to get my locks fixed on my front door. When the technician got there he seemed rushed.
He didn’t really have time to answer any of my questions or anything. It seemed simple enough. I probably could have fixed it better myself.
