The quality of food had gone down a lot! I ordered the regular n popular dishes i.e. chkn tikka noodles, chicken schezwan rice n chilli chicken. All three had a weird oil smell and the taste wasn’t as good as it use to be and my husband and I both ended up having upset stomachs! I have been regular customer of this joint bt sadly this will be my last time!

At one time they were very good. At some point things have changed and they no longer are able to maintain the standard. To review this look at the pictures, in which world does hot and sour soup has gobi(cauliflower) and peas in it? Even the Chinese version does not ! Additionally, ordered the chicken in there and got 2 pieces ! Secondly, we ordered the Hakka noodles and we got the flat ones ! I always refrain from rating a place poorly but this is just poor food. We are never going to order from this place again.

The most pathetic Manchurian — if u can call it that is. We ordered dry veg Manchurian and Hakka noodles. They arrived after almost 1.5 hrs. The Manchurian was not dry and in fact it wasn’t Manchurian. The veg balls were kofta balls and the gravy seemed to be thickened corn flour. Noodles were ok. When asked abt the dry Manchurian they said that’s how it comes with the gravy! Will def NEVER order from here. — R

Worst food ! I have been ordering food/take out from this restaurant for a while ! The quality, quantity and taste is degrading day by day! They are 100% late every time I order ! I used to be a huge fan of chili garlic noodles and the Thai green curry ! Yesterday I got half cooked noodle, the veggies were not even cooked, the taste was terrible ! Thai curry is merely half boiled tasteless veggies with green thickened water! No salt no flavor ! I am so done with this restaurant !

I made an account just to review this place. I called to order my food at 830 and was told I’d be called back to be given my total(what?). Next, I was told my food would be delivered within 45 minutes. I called about an hour later to get a status update and the food was not even ready yet, so I told them I’d pick it up. I get there at 1015 and almost two hours later it’s still not done. All that could be forgiven if the food was decent. It was TERRIBLE and they forgot my spring rolls. I ordered the chilli chicken dry, chicken shezwan and fried rice. Everything was bland and lacking flavor and the shezwan was supposed to have gravy but it was completely dry. I would give this place zero stars if I could.

Don’t let the exterior or the sketchy location fool you. The food is quite authentic and very tasty. It’s one of the better places for take out. Just be weary of their time schedule so you aren’t caught in hunger pandemonium. I ordered the Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Butter Naan. All amazing and the price is right.

I ordered chicken hakka noodles and it came as a container full of delicacy, well prepared and carefully packed with lemon juice and hotsauce. Wow, what an idea to divert the already a mouthwatering dish to the next level of hot Indian dinner. Chicken pieces were well seasoned and thoroughly cooked and blended with the noodles to create a delicious blend of oriental/Indian dish with master creativity. Love to order other dishes from them soon. Since I came for shopping from NY, regretfully next order might be not soon.

Great food. Great people. Excellent delivery. Order for a group of twenty and everybody in the party loved it.

This should’ve scored a higher review. Barring horrible weather or a massive traffic jam, though… food should never take an hour and 45 minutes to travel a mile and a quarter. That said, the food was pretty solid. Their Kashmiri Kofta Curry is among the better malai kofta I’ve had in Jersey City. The kofta, a mix of potato, paneer, chili, and onions, were just dense enough while still yielding against a fork without effort. The creamy curry was assertively spiced without being overwhelming. The garlic naan wasn’t quite as good: it had a nice toasted garlic flavour, but was too thick and chewy. If I order again, it’ll be take out only.

Quick delivery, good hot and sour soup but the tofu was iffy and the chicken a tad worse

I frequently have their noodles and paneer and veg Manchurians. The veg Manchurian is prepared in a different way and not the usual info-Chinese way but not bad at all. Love their schezwan sauce-makes anything taste spicy and delicious

After reading all the reviews I decided to order sweet corn soup, chicken corn soup, chicken tikka Hakka noodles and tawa Chilli chicken dry. Order arrived within an hour so all was good till this point — but then things took a turn. Instead of 1 sweet veg corn soup, I got two chicken corn soups. Chilli chicken gravy instead of Chilli chicken dry and the chicken tikka Hakka noodles were just chicken Hakka noodles(no tikka taste profile). Their manager Reddy fixed the order the following day(I did not complain about tikka noddles) — but the whole ordeal was annoying. Food tasted good — both soups were excellent — Chilli chicken dry was decent and Hakka noodles tasted great too(without the tikka). They need to get better at filling orders — other than that I don’t see a reason why they won’t get my repeat business! Their Indo Chinese food is definitely better then other competitors in the area!

The food is just amazing. If you are looking for indo-chinese cuisine, you must definitely consider tawa wok. They are a delivery/pick up spot so do not plan a date there :) However we did not know this as it was our first time there, but the host was super nice and set up a table and chairs for us, and kept the little room heater close to us which I think was extremely nice of him. The price point is okay, a little high but okay as per grove st standards. $ 35 for two people approx. the food is spicy so make sure you tell them your spice preference before you burn your senses :)

Food is ok if delivered hot and fresh, but unfortunately with delivery that is not possible. We gave this place a second try after an poor delivery experience. As I write this, I am still waiting for a delivery after a text told me it left at 8:10pm. It’s not 8:50, and the order was placed at 7:25. Called the restaurant and they said 15min, which makes no sense since we only live 10 min from the location. Unfortunately our last time ordering.

I am giving 3 stars only because my first experience was very very good. After the first time, I have ordered from Tawa Wok about 4 times with the same order(hot n sour soup, chicken hakka noodles, chicken dry appetizer), this is what happened: 1. Dec 2015 — Delivery was extremely late, past 60 minutes 2. Dec 2015 — Every nerve in my body was on fire, that’s how spicy it was. Threw everything away! 3. Jan 2016 — After placing the order, I called them and told them absolutely no spice. Thankfully they added no spice. Given a bit of regular spice would have been good, but I was just tired of my past experience. 4. Jan 2016 — Was with some frnds, so changed my order a bit ordered veg red curry(extra spicy), tofu fried rice and chicken garlic. DISASTER — the veg. red curry had chicken and zero spice, the fried rice had no tofu, and the chicken garlic wasn’t any appealing all loaded with corn starch and breaded chicken. So when you order next — just wait to be surprised!

So I tried some of the food yesterday and loved it. One of my friends has been bugging me to try this place for a while and I finally came around to it last night, very pleasantly impressed. I got the chicken 65, the peshwari dal makhni and malabar porotta. Filled me up and I continued to eat through my stomach ache. Will def be coming back for more!

Food came quickly, but the delivery was awful! Delivery guy called to have me come to my apartment building’s front door instead of him coming upstairs. Annoying but not a big deal. What got me mad was that I had to walk halfway down the block to meet him at his car where he was double parked! He said there was no parking. He could have double parked a little closer to my building. The transaction would have taken less time than me walking down my block. Good thing I took my keys! Food was mediocre. Samosas were way too salty, but the rice was bland and needed salt. The shahi paneer had 10 cubes of paneer, but to make it look like more they filled the container to the top with sauce. The sauce tasted like canned Campbell’s tomato soup with milk. Terrible. I will never order from them again.

This is based on one delivery experience. Took 2.5 hours to get our food. We called at 7:45 after an hour of waiting(we were told 30 – 40) and was told it would be 10 – 12 minutes. We called again at 8:30 was told the driver had flat tire and would be there soon — and it arrived at 9:08. I understand that crap happens — but that seems a bit extreme when we could have walked there and back in 30 minutes to get it ourselves. And also stinks that no one tried to tell us about the situation. When the food came it was not worth the wait. I would bet my left pinky that the rice was Uncle Ben’s instant rice — that is exactly what it tasted like — crumbly and wet. And the Chicken Masala was beige — not red. Meh. The paneer and naan were fine — but we also paid $ 37 for this entire experience. Now that I see the other reviews I should have made sure my roommate read Unilocal before ordering!
