Sad news, RIP Stan Krause, I won’t forget that one long conversation we had that one day at your store as you passionately displayed how genuine, humble and in love with music you really were. Music, instruments, doo wop, and vinyls were a love only those that could relate could understand. You knew where every record was, had each vinyl carefully organized and it was my honor to hear about your label, history in your music career, and overall run. For those that complained in reviews of why this store was only open certain days you explained to me how you were dealing with being sick and had no choice. This was one good Jersey City gem that had been around since 1965, hope your legacy continues and they don’t just buy your catalog out like you always avoided. You owned a magical place where a true music lover could escape on a never ending crate digging vacation, You will be missed!

Yes, Stan is a pretty nice guy, but that’s not what this review is about. The records in this store are priced so high that it is not worth shopping at. Records that should be around $ 7 – 8 are priced at $ 25. And if you are looking for a $ 2 or even $ 5 bin, look elsewhere because those don’t exist in Stan’s world. Selection isn’t even that great for the high prices. This spot won’t be around for much longer if it is run this way, it’s a shame.

If you like oldies but goodies then Stan’s Square Records is the place to go… They have R&B, pop, jazz, showtunes, etc… mainly stuff from the 1950’s until the 1980’s…they specialize in doo-wop…They have thousands of vinyl lps &45’s…They also have cd’s & dvd’s…Stan is very knowledge about music… If it can be found most likely he will find it…
