Obsessed with the lamb over rice. Perfectly cooked lamb over rice with very fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion and topped with(in my case) a ridiculous amount of white sauce. Cheap. This has to be my go-to lunch in the area.

Great spot. Better than Halal Guys in my opinion. I love the falafel over rice

As halal carts go, this is about as good as you’ll find in Jersey City. No real surprises or creative flair here: you can get yourself a pita sandwich or meat over rice with sauce for cheap. As these guys are usually parked near my office during the lunch rush, I’ve grabbed a lamb gyro platter a couple of times: a scattering of meat over a heap of basmati rice. The lamb struck a good balance of tender and char and the rice was tasty. A few pieces of roughly chopped onion and tomato rounded out the styrofoam carton. Flavours were pretty muted, but they got a boost from the tangy white sauce and just-hot-enough red sauce. Halal Guys this isn’t, but you get a decent meal.

This guy gets 5 stars for consistency. He is always here. I’ve eaten here a few times. Food just isn’t for me. It’s not that it’s bad or good. It just isn’t my thing. I see other food trucks who show once in a blue moon. It’s guys like this guy who deserve to be around. Always there. Always know if you’re in the mood for something of their menu they will be there. Props to you.

Been working in the Jersey City area for about 2 months, and mostly been going to the mall. Having worked on Wallstreet for a long time… I missed the food carts, especially the falafel and the chicken and rice. Since the weather was nice, I thought I would venture out and see what else is out here. I came upon the food truck corner. When I saw this one, I got very excited since I was missing my chicken and rice. It all goes downhill from there. There was a person in front of me. who ordered falafel sandwich. When I saw what the guy put on the pita, that should have been my first clue. Basically they were 4 frozen looking green pellets whcih he covered with some lettuce. I thought maybe the chicken and rice will be different… since that should be their signature dish. Second mistake… The rice had no flavor, the chicken was obviously frozen and lacked any taste whatsoever. I am trully shocked by some of the reviews, needless to say I do not reccommend or will be back to this truck again. They get one star for the hot sausce, since it’s the only one that had actuall flavor.

Definitely underrated. Come here any chance I get. The lamb gyro and chicken over rice are the items I normally get. Can’t go wrong with it. Whether it’s late night food, phone order pick up, lunch in Jersey City, you name it — they make it happen. Wish the truck was in the Paulus Hook area!

I love the lamb and rice… this is where i get my fix of halal food… the price is right because he stuffs the treys to go! Hot sauce, white sauce, and bbq sauce on top of the lamb, rice, salad, and a drink with the meal! Can never go wrong with a free drink lol

I got the chicken over rice last friday at around 11:40pm. The white sauce was very sour and I couldn’t take a 2nd mouth. When I returned it the truck guy told me that his sauce is like that. But I could clearly tell that it was old and the sauce was sour from sitting. I asked him to give another one without sauce and he was not at all happy. He gave me rice with very less chicken. Chicken did not taste good and just tasted like boiled chicken — Chicken had no proper seasoning. Worst chicken over rice I ever had.

Love this place. I grab my dinner at least twice or thrice a week from here. I have been coming here for the last 6 months. The food is brilliant and actually much better than a lot of the NYC food carts. The guys in the truck are really friendly and they are there 7 days a week.

*Please take this review lightly as I’ve only gone here when I’m intoxicated.* This place is always parked outside my building at night. It’s so close that it’s the perfect drunk food. Sometimes, I don’t want to walk all the way up Newark Ave for Hollywood, you know? My boyfriend and I always share the gyro and rice. The guy that usually runs truck is really cool. He’s always very accommodating and asks us how much gyro we want and how much sauce we’re having. One time we went, there was another guy running the truck(seemed like he was the owner) and he didn’t do a good job at all. The gyro was all in one long piece, not even cut up. Absolutely horrible. I haven’t seen him since though, so maybe it was a one time shot. Granted, this is no Chicken and Rice from NYC, but it’s a pretty good alternative. I really like how there was tomatoes included. I am a huge fan of tomatoes and it also makes it feel less fatty even though everything is drenched in white sauce. Overall, great drunk food if you’re in the JC area. Would recommend!

A bad day at work, especially when it’s a Monday, deserves some type of comfort food to make all the pain go away. On this particular day, I decided a plate of chicken and price would be the«food hug» I needed. Once I was in the Grove Street area, I headed to the food truck with the longest line, which happened to be at the Sahara Grill truck. The guy at the truck/chef was friendly.(If you ask me how my day was and offer me free hot sauce, I’ll think you’re the kindest person in the world. Yeah, it doesn’t take much.) Since it was my first time at the truck, I was a bit shy to ask for a ton of tzatziki sauce, but the guy was very generous with the condiments. I rushed home to dig into my dinner and was greeted with chicken and salad covered in white sauce, hiding the basmati rice layer on the bottom. The amount of food I got was large enough to give me leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The meal satisfied my chicken and rice craving, but it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had. Also, I wish they added more chicken. If I’m craving chicken and rice again and don’t want to spend the time/money heading to NYC, I’ll be back at this food truck. I’d also be open to trying their lamb and beef gyro, too.

I’m basing my review after a couple of drinks and a hungry stomach lol. With nothing to eat decent enough to sober up, I happened to catch a smell coming out of a green truck good enough to remind me of the Halal guys in NY(53rd and 6th). The guy was very humble and cool as well as had the truck looking clean inside which is always satisfying. The food health inspection satisfied certificate also helped lol. I tried the three meat combination platter and for $ 10 you can’t go wrong. The halal gyro meat, beef and chicken hit the spot, and the salad and yellow rice was just right. Once again you won’t find anything like this open at 3AM in downtown jersey city and from what I can tell it’s open well past the time on the menu. He told me if he’s not in this particular corner, he’s up the block across the dunkin donuts. The red sauce is not too spicey which is great since the halal guys in NY make me run laps around the block after tasting theirs lol. I gave it 4 stars because the rice was just a tiny tiny bit hard in some parts but not too much to ruin it, and also I would prefer the sauces on the side since he put a bit too much on my platter which keep in mind was my fault for Unilocaling and not paying attention lol. Overall cool guy, great hours, pretty decent Arabic halal menu and great location! I’ll be back!
