All too often, Mexican restuarants focus not on the food but on flavored margaritas and bottomless bowls of tortilla chips. Thats why Mision Burrito in Jersey City is such a find. Burritos are made the overstuffed California way, with rice and red or black beans packed inside a flour tortilla, along with a choice of chili, beef, skirt steak, shredded chicked, grilled chicken or spinach and goat cheese. Some include guacamole and sour cream, and all come with lettuce and pico de gallo on the side. The Bay burrito is especially tasty, with shredded chicken that’s been stewed with onions and peppers. The result is a layered flavor combination that puts the competitors’ rubber bird to shame. Mision Burrito is right next to Riverview Park, so is the weather is fair, diners can pull up a park bench and watch the city views. In our opinion, that beats a kitschy Mexican restaurant any day.
