Booked the moving company with Eli for a local move. Real nice guy and was very honest about the whole process. Came over to the apartment and provided an accurate estimate and a good deal over all. Eli was very informative and understood the process and requirements for moving.
At first I hesitated after reading all the Unilocal reviews but Unilocal for some reason removed all of their good reviews from what Eli told me. The company is accreddited with the BBB.
Day of the move, the 3 guys arrived on time and were very nice. All the furniture was wrapped and the the moved everything out in 2 hours. We arrived at the new location and they were able to unload and assemble furniture in 2.5 hrs. Everything went smooth, nothing was broken and the guys were very accomodating as this was a new building and required several things (moving insurance, protective floor covering, etc). Zion, Al, and Oni did a great job and I was very pleased with the service.

We went with Eagle Van Lines for a local move. Our quote from them was not the lowest but it was reasonable and I went with them since they were in good standing with BBB. After booking them I came across the reviews on Unilocal and was terrified.
To my surprise the move went very smoothly. The movers showed up on time and the move was completed exactly within the time they had quoted. The guys were very pleasant and worked very hard. The furniture was intact no scratches, dings or damage and the house we moved into was also not damaged in any way during the move.
Eli was great to work with. He was extremely responsive and available.
I would definitely recommend Eagle Van Lines. Will be using them again for our next move!

One is too high a rating. I had wall damage and furniture damage. The possible 10% over run just needs to be a given. I packed all my belongings and they still managed to use $ 450 of bubble wrap and other «protection» for the move. I will say that the three well wrapped light bulbs did come through unscathed. Eli was unwilling to take responsibility for the poor performance of his team. Moving is stressful enough. Do not add to your stress by using this company. C

If I could give them zero stars, I would.
I was literally moving a mile down the road in Hoboken and booked Eagle Van Lines weeks prior to my moving date. I requested a morning move and they said they would confirm if that was possible the day before. Fine, no problem. They ended up giving me a 1 – 3 slot because they also booked a big move that morning. Again, no problem.
The day of my move, 2:45 rolls around and they still hasn’t showed up. I called and the guy on the line said that they wouldn’t be there until at least 5 pm because the big move took more time than expected. I calmly told the guy that this was unacceptable because my no parking signs would be expired by then, making it basically impossible for the truck to be close to my apartment. (Not to mention that it’s completely unprofessional.) The guy then hung up on me.
I called back and asked to speak to a manager. The manager proceeded to yell at me saying that I needed to be more accommodating. I’m sorry… how was this my fault?
5 pm rolls around and still no truck. I call. I was then told that they’re not coming at all and that they can come in the morning. Excuse me? I had to be out of my apartment that day.
Sparing the rest of the details, they finally came at 9 pm. The movers had no idea that my move was even booked! (I will say though that the movers were very nice and efficient.)
It was a complete and utter disaster.
NEVER, EVER USE THIS COMPANY.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST. HIRE ANYONE ELSE. I move at least every other year, these guys are hands down the worst moving company I’ve worked with between NY and California.
They will not only screw everything up, they will screw you with the fee.
FOLLOWUP: They call you back to scold you for their failure.

They lost our bed frame or had it in their truck and didn’t return it back. Will not recommend eagle van lines for your move. Not reliable!.

Long story short — This is not the relocation company you want if you’re expecting professional relocation services, reasonable prices or a straight answer!
Use this company if you want to be ripped off, lied to, or your stuff lost and/​damaged.
What an awful experience!?! I can honestly say that I have not had a worse relocation experience with a mover. This is probably my 6^th multi state move in 10 years so this is far from my first rodeo. If any of you have seen the movie «Moving» with Richard Pryor that will only begin to explain how things went. I relocated this time from Jersey City to Miami and out of all of the quotes I received, I chose Eagle Van lines. Their price wasn’t the lowest but they had the best BBB rating (A+ 6 complaints in 3 years). At pick up, everything was good. No real problems to speak of. When it came to the delivery and dealing with the people running the operation, that’s where the awful experience begins. After not hearing from anyone as is got closer to my delivery date, I called to get a status. I was told my stuff on a truck on the way to me and was given a truck driver’s number to contact for further details. I called the driver who told me he did not have my shipment. That I would need to call the office back to get it straightened out. Concerned at this point, I called the office. After speaking with multiple employees, no one could tell me where my belongings were. This continued for more than 24 hours. I was passed around from employee to employee and promised callbacks that never happened. The next morning, I called and I spoke with a female employee that told me to call the driver back because she didn’t know what to do. She needed to talk to her boss and get back to me. I called the driver again and he explained that he did have my shipment but, he was direct to drop it off in a storage facility. He told me the Operations Manager made a mistake and tried to deliver to the incorrect location. Angry at this point, I called to speak with the Operations Manager. Would you believe that the Operations Manager was the female employee that told me she didn’t know what to do? She refused to come to the phone and told the dispatcher that someone would call me back. After a few hours, I followed up and told to «just be patient». Around 6:00 PM that evening, the owner, Eli called to tell me that a truck would be making my delivery the next day at 11:00 AM. You would think everything would be fine now, right? That’s what i thought too. The next morning, I get a call from Eli who tells me since he had to order a different truck to deliver my belongings that I would be responsible for paying for it. Obviously, at this point, I am LIVID. I really just wanted the settle into my new place and get this over with. I offered to split the difference with him. He laughed and asked me if I was married. Not really sure where he was going with that. Add $ 300 to my original $ 1500 quote.
Around 1:00 the next day, the delivery truck showed up — you know the one I paid $ 300 for that was supposed to be there at 11:00? I get down to the truck and there are two guys standing behind it, trying to push it. The truck barely made it to my house and now it’s broken down. Since they can’t move it any closer, I would be responsible for paying the LONG CARRY Fee. He wanted to charge me $ 600! Not happening! He actually asked me if he could drop my stuff right in the loading dock and someone else could help ME move to my apartment. RUK??? Please add $ 150 to the current rate of $ 1800.
Once everything gets inside, I’m inspecting. I have a cigarette burn in my sofa. No one in my home smokes and the leg on my coffee table looks like it got wet so now it’s wobbly.
Terrible experience — NEVER AGAIN!

I would give them 0 stars if it was possible, but unfortunately Unilocal is more optimistic than I am.

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY unless you want to be stressed out for 2+ weeks and miss work and sit at home waiting for 8 hours for your delivery.
I don’t care how much «cheaper» they are than other moving companies. Reliability matters when it comes to such stressful situations. One would hire movers in order to eliminate some of the stress associated with a move. Trust me when I say that this was NOT the case with Eagle Van Lines.
When I first called for a quote, I spoke with Hector, who was extremely personable at the time. He was very friendly, and even went the extra mile to contact my building management for necessary information for pick up and delivery. I was impressed. However, everything after that went downhill. They clearly use up 99% of their energy to get jobs, and less than 1% of their energy to maintain customer satisfaction.
Although this company is A+ rated on BBB, DO NOT BE FOOLED into thinking they are a solid company for a long distance move. Maybe they have a better track record for immediate/​local moves, but this has been a nightmare.
I hired them for a relocation from NYC to Chicago. Since I was moving into a furnished apartment, the amount of furniture was minimal, and I crammed everything I owned into boxes. I was well within the minimum cubic footage for a delivery, but I was quoted $ 870 (still VERY expensive). The reason I went with them instead of a shipping company was because I needed to utilize the 1 month of free storage prior to delivery.
I was told to make sure my stuff was loaded onto a truck 5 – 6 days prior to my ideal delivery date. They assured me that I would hear within a week when my truck would be sent out, and would be notified a few days in advance for the date of delivery in order to reserve a freight elevator in my building. Not only did they NOT leave on time, but Hector had the audacity to send me a rude e-​mail stating that they are 9 days late as per my request. I have spoken to multiple representatives on the phone who assured me that I would receive my items on time, but they did not even leave NYC until 5 days after my desired delivery date. When I notified them that I had just started a new job and I wanted a later delivery time, Hector rudely asked «don’t you have any friends in Chicago who can receive your delivery for you?» Excuse me? I am brand new to a city, and you are questioning my affability??? Demanding why it is that I have not made friends who will take off time from their jobs to greet an incompetent group of movers? I did not appreciate their questioning of my personal relationships. Extremely unprofessional.
Despite being told that I would receive a call regarding my exact delivery date and time, I had to continue to call in order to get the phone number for the driver of the truck. I was told that I would have 24 hour advance notice to arrange for a freight elevator, but the driver tried to give me a time 16 hours later. I was supposed to receive a call at 3:30 confirming location for a 4pm delivery, but received no such call. At 4:15, I called and was told that my delivery would be 2 hours late. I was supposed to have received a phone call from EVL’s main office, but of course had not received any such notification. At 5:45, I called again and the phone number was disconnected. When I called the main office at EVL, I was greeted with confusion but assured that I would receive my items on time. I tried calling again at 6:30 and was told that I would not receive my things until the following morning because they were running another 3 – 4 hours behind. After showing frustration, the driver agreed to stop by on the same night around 9 pm.
I’m writing this while extremely disgruntled and STILL WAITING FOR MY DELIVERY. I will update later regarding the delivery.

My experience with Eagle Van Lines started out great, but quickly turned into a nightmare. I moved from NJ to FL. Due to space restraints, I’ll skip to the actual move. The movers that showed up for the pick up were a little late (about an hour) but they were scheduled to arrive 9am on a Friday, and I know traffic is heavy at that time. They handled all of my belongings with care and wrapped all of the valuables (TVs, computer, etc…) in bubble wrap and cardboard. There was no additional charge after all was packed up and I paid the full amount with my credit card on the phone with the moving company, and was given a confirmation code.
About a week later, I received a missed call. I returned the call almost immediately and was greeted by a «Yeah?» in a thick Russian accent. It was the movers and I was told they would be here the following day between 12 and 4pm. The man (I later learned his name was Haim) also told me that they needed to fit an 18 wheeler in the complex and if they couldn’t, they would want me to rent a U-​Haul and charge me $ 450 extra. Haim told me if they showed up and they couldn’t fit, then they would charge me $ 600 instead. I called my apartment complex and was told they had 18 wheelers in there before. So, I called the man back, and again was greeted by a «Yeah?». Every time I called Haim back I was greeted with «Yeah?» which I found very unprofessional. I told him that the complex said they could fit and his reply was «Ok, well I gave you your options».
The following day, the movers showed up at 6pm (2 hours late) and would not even attempt to fit into the complex. Haim moved the truck across the street and proceeded to tell me «It is late and we are running out of time. You have a few options, they are all very expensive. If U-​haul is still open and you are able to rent a truck, we will charge you $ 650 cash» As he said this, I got very angry, telling him that he was 2 hours late and it was not my problem if U-​Haul was closed. Furthermore, since I paid in full, they are only allowed to charge me 15% on top of all other charges due at delivery, as stated in the pamphlet they provided and in the law (15% of 0 is $ 0). He seemed to disagree. He began to walk away and threatened to drive away. I told him if he drove away with my stuff I would be calling the police.
Haim then called his boss, Eli. I spoke with Eli who began to tell me that I would need shuttle service (which I did not argue with) and it would be $ 475. I told Eli that his worker was very disrespectful and giving me entirely different prices. Eli said «No, no, do not to listen to him» that it would be $ 475 and that he was giving me a discount. I felt that they were just making up prices at this point. I started to explain to Eli that the law was that they can only charge me 15% of other charges due at delivery for impracticable operations and bill me for the remainder of charges 30 days later (as written in the paperwork that THEY gave me). Eli got very enraged that I was threatening him with the law, and they refused to abide by it. Eli and the mover then began to threaten me saying they would drive away with my stuff or leave it on the curb. I told them to leave it on the curb.
Haim then made me write on the contract «I (name) do not want shuttle service. I authorize the movers to leave my items in the parking lot across the street.» While writing this, Haim told me that I «needed to watch myself» and that I was «pissing him off». I asked if he was threatening me and he said «Yes I am. You can kiss my ass.» I was not yelling and I was not swearing, and the mover was threatening me. Very professional. I didn’t want to lash back in fear that my belongings would be destroyed or sold.
The movers unloaded my stuff in the parking lot across the street, and I had friends and family help me move the stuff to my apartment. Eagle Van Lines is a 2-​bit operation run by people that will be nice until they have your money or your belongings, and then treat you with complete disrespect and unprofessionalism. Furthermore, several of my belongings were damaged, however since they unloaded it in the parking lot I know I cannot prove anything. If you are looking at them to perform your move, I would look elsewhere. They will make up charges and prices and threaten to hold your items hostage if you don’t play by their rules. This seems to be the story with other reviews I have read; let’s not keep a «business» like this in operation. There are many other companies that won’t threaten clients and perform illegally like Eagle Van Lines.

Eagle gave me the lowest estimate for moving my parents from NJ to CA. I wish I had listened to my sister, who told me that her friend had used them for an east coast to west coast move, and that they ended up charging much more than the estimate. I thought we would be ok because they came out, checked out my parent’s stuff and provided an estimate. The inflated costs have more to do with what I consider nickel and diming. If your front door is more than a certain distance from the street, they will charge $ 75 extra. If they come to your house to provide an estimate and they miss some things, they will charge a few hundred extra when they come back to actually load your stuff onto the truck. At that point, most people aren’t in a position to cancel, since you’ve already put down a deposit.
The worst part of it though, is that they will lose things and not return them or reimburse you. They packed up my parents stuff, loaded other people’s stuff and drove out to California. They made it within the timeframe they promised, but since that’s what they were supposed to do, they don’t get extra credit. When they arrived, they unloaded everything, but could not find the shelves to a bookshelf. They said they probably packed it in with someone else’s stuff, and that they would call if they found it.
So they called later that week and said they had found the shelves and that they would deliver them the next time they were in California. Well, it’s been almost 3 months and I have not heard a word. My parent’s are not high maintenance, but the bookshelf is useless without shelves, so I have emailed several times asking when they will be here, or to just ship them, but no response.
If you want cheap at first, but not really, and are ok with just a majority of your stuff arriving at the final destination, go with Eagle. Make sure they include every single item you want moved in the estimate, and measure the distance between the street and your front door. If you prefer all of your stuff to arrive on time, go with someone else.

I moved the sunday before memorial day. I cancelled my previous movers the week before the move because of a bad review (unsubstantiated but I panicked) but luckily Hector (contact person for Eagle) was able to accommodate my schedule.
They weren’t the cheapest I could find but they had BBB ratings so I felt a bit more at ease with hiring them. Points that I liked:
1) They came within the time frame they said they would.
2) They were efficient… they were so fast we were able to shave off an hour off the estimate.
3) They only charged me for what was necessary and they informed me ahead of time before they used it (e.g. shrink wrapping matresses)
4) They warned me if something will warrant extra fees and gave me a chance to decide if I wanted them to do it or I could do it myself (moving fragile items such as mirrors)
5) No mention of tip from the guys (although I did ask Hector what would be good and he told me base it on performance.)
6) Zion and his 2 guys (sorry forgot their names) were polite, helpful and a pleasure to work with. They also knew what they were doing.
7) Van was much much bigger than I expected given the price I was given.
Over all, they made my move not as scary as I thought it would be.

I recently moved from Queens, NY to central CT and used Eagle Van Lines’ services.
My review is mixed. I’ll start with the good:
Once the team arrived, they were extremely quick in the loading of my items. Pedro was polite, and Ivan was a tornado who never stopped working.
The unload was almost as good. Ivan still stole the show in his execution of moving.
The price was literally half of what the other estimates I received were. This is not just good, but AMAZING.
The downside:
The movers were two hours late. I’m told it was an issue with not being able to cross a bridge in the truck and needing to find their way without going over the bridge. Unfortunately, the GPS they had was broken, and they called me asking me for directions, which I was unable to provide from where they were. The two hours were extremely tense with phone calls flying back and forth between myself, the office, and attempting to contact the driver, who was not answering his phone.
The second thing that I was not thrilled with is that the driver then asked if he could follow me in my car all the way to CT. I felt this was a bit too much to ask, as I didn’t want to be responsible for them arriving to the new place. I gently tried to tell him that we would be stopping for coffee on the way, and perhaps he could find his own way. He said that he didn’t mind stopping for coffee at all.
He also not only asked me for cash for the toll he had paid on the way, but when I told him I didn’t have the cash on me, he asked if I could stop at an ATM. I told him that I would pay him at the time of delivery, as my contract stated.
Once the coffee run was over, I did tell him that I got movers so that I would not have the stress of moving, and that they needed to find their own way to the destination. He was very polite and indicated that it would be no problem.
Perhaps my least favorite part of the moving process was that the lead mover took me aside TWICE to tell me that his guys were doing a great job and that he really hoped that I would ‘take care of them’ at the end, and then suggested a tip of 15%. I am all for tipping for good service, but I thought the second mention of it was rude. It was surprising, because other than that he was 100% polite.
A couple of the covers for totes that I had packed in were crushed because of the weight stacked on top of them. When mentioned, there was some shuffling and finally I was told that I could make a claim.
I don’t know that I would work with them again. I would consider it, though. Especially for the price.
I’d like to end of a good note. Hector and Felicia in the office were always extremely polite and as helpful as possible. I could not have asked for more in that department.

Eagle Van Lines moved me from Brooklyn to New Orleans. Their pick-​up went fine — quick and professional. However, they use a huge truck, so it was difficult for them to find a place to park in Williamsburg. The real problems began when I gave them the address in New Orleans to deliver my belongings. Due to Mardi Gras parades, I gave them several multiple day windows when they could deliver my belongings. Only one window worked for them, as they stated that they only come down here when the truck is full. If that is true, I don’t know how they can fulfill their promise of delivering within the 10 to 14 day window they promise. Once MG passed, Eagle did not answer my calls to 3 of their numbers (Eli, the owner, Kay, the receptionist, and the delivery department) for A WEEK! When they finally did get back in touch with me, they stated that they were sick or out of the country. Does their business not plan for these events? Sounds like a convenient excuse to me. When I asked for a discount, Eli basically said it was my fault that they didn’t return their calls. His tone was certainly not a «customer-​first» attitude. He eventually relented when I stated that I was going to file a Better Business Bureau claim. Then, when they finally delivered my stuff (a month a half later), they lost one of my boxes. The value of this box was just about equal to the discount they gave me. Coincidence? I don’t think so. This company is misleading, at best, deceitful at worst. They definitely are NOT a customer-​first business.

I moved this past Wednesday and used Eagle. I felt that they were very professional from the beginning and the price I was quoted was fair for the distance (40mins away) and the amount of items that I planned on moving.
The movers arrived 10minutes early which I was very happy about! They were ready with all of my paper work and moved my furniture out of my apartment in less than an hour.
The only reason I did not give them 5 stars was because the head mover was rude to me when he was leaving my apartment. Apparently he told one of the two maintenance guys in my new apartment that I was «wasting his time» because I walked out of my apartment for 2 seconds so that one of my maintance guys could show me the laundry room. Geesh!
Other than that incident, I would definitely recommend this company. Very efficient and they are priced well.

Mr Eli the CEO of this company read my reviews and gave me a call, he inquired about what happened, and I explained to him, Mr Eli promised me that everything would be taken care of.
True to his word, Mr Eli called me the following day, and he rectified the whole thing. I would urge anybody that uses this company to go to Mr Eli, if you encounter any problem. He is a man of his word. An honorable man.

I would absolutely, and without question, use Eagle again for moving cross country. Everything from start to finish was so much better than I could even have imagined, and I can’t thank Eli and his team enough for the exceptional customer service I was provided.
A few years ago my sister got chronically ill and had to move suddenly from NYC to Los Angeles. Consequently, everything in her apartment made it’s way into 2 large storage lockers in Chelsea. My family finally got to the point where we wanted to send everything to California.
You would think this would be very expensive. You would think it would take a long time. You would think that this would be a royal pain in the backside. It was none of those things.
I met Eli at the facility, and he gave me an estimate. He is such a kind man and really understand the situation with my sister and my family. He gave us an exceptionally low rate and even said he could have people come pick up the stuff on a Sunday — which was only a few days later.
A few days later the movers arrived (3 of them — early, btw), and they very carefully and skillfully packed everything up in their van. They were really nice guys and worked really hard. Then, less than 10 days later everything arrived safely in California.
It was just so smooth. No complaints. Fair price. Good service.
Just one comment to you… PLEASE tip these guys well. They deserve it. I tipped 20% overall (gave 80% of that for the guys who loaded up the truck and 20% to the guys who unloaded in California).

I think that 2 stars is a little generous, but I know that not everyone involved with my move was to blame. The movers themselves were nice guys, hard workers, although a couple of them didn’t speak English so there was a lot of hand gesturing. In the end, all of our items got moved successfully, but many of our boxes were crushed because the guys stacked heavy boxes on top of light boxes.
I booked my move 2 – 3 weeks in advance, and was assured that I was scheduled and in the books. Customer Service was very attentive and professional during the booking process.
Our day started early, as our moving truck was scheduled to arrive between 8 and 9am. We had our coffee, made sure everything was in order, and then we waited. And waited. And waited. At 9:20, I called customer service to see if the truck was on its way. The nice woman told me that they were on the way. Then we waited some more. Then around 10:15, we called once more. We were called back by our truck driver who told us that the truck had broken down and they wouldn’t be able to arrive for a few hours. They were supposed to already be on their way around 8am– shouldn’t they have noticed any issues with the truck two hours ago, I wondered? Can you imagine? The 31^st of the month and our truck crew is just sitting around, twiddling their thumbs, waiting for a truck? I doubt it. If that was the case, they should have rented a truck from Penske or something. You’re a moving company. It’s your JOB to have fully functioning trucks, especially on a peak moving day. My fiancé suspects that they overbooked themselves and there really was no truck on its way to us. Either way, it was not okay.
Unfortunately, when we explained to the head of the company that this was not acceptable (our new building has move-​in hours that close in the late afternoon, which is why we requested an early morning move), he became very hostile and raised his voice at me over the phone. I couldn’t quite make out everything he was saying, but it was definitely not pleasant. He continued to yell as I handed the phone to my bewildered fiancé. He said «hello?» And the guy finally stopped ranting. It’s one thing to have a bad experience with a company, and it’s another to be transferred to the owner of the company and get yelled at. Keep in mind that I wasn’t raising my voice– only he was. Everyone has bad days, and everyone makes mistakes, but it is absolutely unacceptable to verbally attack a customer that way.
Our truck ultimately showed up 5 hours late, and though we did get an apology from the man who had earlier yelled at us, we received no discount for the inconvenience.
I will not be using this company again, nor will I recommend them.

Our recent move from New Jersey to South Florida was overall smooth and quick.
Eagle Van Lines first came over the our place for an estimate. We took some time to think it over but since they were local, we decided to go with them.
We had made an appointment for Friday morning pick up but it happened that they were unable to come that morning and asked if the pick up could be Thursday night at 7 pm. We were somewhat disappointed and frustrated that they showed up at 9 pm. For that reason, I’m giving 4 stars and not 5. Other than the time issue, we were very pleased with the service provided by Eagle Van Lines. The furniture was all delivered in the same condition it was picked up and everything was accounted for. None of the fragile pieces in the boxes were broken. Everything was just as we packed it.
I would recommend using Eagle Van Lines to those who are moving, locally and across country.

Don’t ever go with this company for a long-​distance move. We moved my mother’s belongings from NJ to CA and they ended up «losing» one of her bureaus that was stuffed with memorabilia, photo albums and her WEDDING GOWN. The movers were belligerent, quasi-​violent Russians who demanded to be paid in cash or they would hold our stuff hostage. It was a frightening, very upsetting experience and we have never gotten any resolution or restitution. STAY AWAY from these people.
The local folks might be OK but they subcontract with thugs.
