I had the Little Sicilian, it was awesome. My wife had The Farmer, she loved it. My son had The Bruschetta. It was great too. I really only had one complaint and it’s that at that time, they didn’t take credit card. The guy said they will soon so, it’s all good.

Meh. Nice sandwiches but you pay a lot more than you get. The owners of Pizza Masters own it but the quality isn’t up to par. There are two other Italian delis nearby that are better

The décor looks nice since it is newly renovated. It is decorated in the style of an open air Italian villa, not like a New York deli. On one side, there is shelves holding pre-package«Italian» goods. The other side has the deli displays of meats and other various prepared pastas. You order by going to the back stand. The food does take a while to make, which suggests that it is made to order. One thing I don’t like is that they don’t have a credit card machine, CASHONLY. I waited about 5 minutes for an Italian sub. The sandwiches don’t contain a lot of meat. There are plenty of really good sandwich options along Central Ave. There was nothing that made me say wow about this place.

Today was my second time at Bocelli’s and I really really wanted to love it. The first time, I ordered a Lorenzo sandwich from a recommendation by the guy behind the counter and a cannoli. The sandwich consists of fresh mozzarella, roast beef and caramelized onions. It was ok, the onions were sweet and crunchy, albeit too few. The meat was fresh oven roasted and the mozzarella was fresh too, but had no flavor. The cannoli was pre filled and if i knew that i would have passed on it. It didnt taste right – certainly not like a cannoli you can get from any other italian deli/bakery. The chocolate chips in it are sprinkles, which was weird. First time I cut the place slack, since it was during their soft opening. But this time, man, I dont think ill go back. I ordered the Lorenzo again-the onions taste so different to what I originally had-as if they were slathered in italian dressing. The meat was processed roast beef and the mozzarella had even less taste this time around. One good thing, I liked the bread… Its a shame to not want to support a local business here in the heights, but the food wasnt worth the price or worth going back for. :(

Really a 2.5 but you can’t go halfsies. Customer service is top notch. Got 2 sandwiches and a pizza. They got the pizza order wrong but quickly fixed the problem, Sandwiches were ok. Very skimpy on the meats. They promote this amazing balsamic sauce but it tastes they just squeeze some Hidden Valley or whatever on. Def not homeade or tasty. Also from what I understand the owners own Renatos which is the pizza/italian restaurant down the block. How can you then serve pizza on pre made discs of thick dough at this place? I can go buy and make my own boboli! meh. Cmon if you want even have a shot at competing with Andrea Salumeria down the block, you need to step your game up. Make the pizzas fresh, 86 the fake balsamic sauce and fill those sandwiches up! Out!

Much better than expected. They have a great chicken cutlet, smoked mozzarella and broccoli rabe sandwich. Highly recommended. Also, try the focaccia pizza. Pleasantly surprised by this place.

There are a lot of offerings here; but you can’t go wrong with the sandwiches. The paninis are ok but the bread on their regular sandwiches is to die for, you can tell they put a lot of effort into getting the right bread for some good meat! Also, the pasta salads are great, and they rotate fairly frequently. I recommend even visiting here once just for the décor, it’s like walking into a whole different place.

I read a review that said the Pizza Masters owners also own Bocellis and my mind was blown. Pizza Masters is easily my favorite pizza place in all of JC(so dang good), but I can’t say I feel the same about Bocellis. I feel really bad leaving this review and wish I could give it at least half a star more, but blame Unilocal for that. I’ll start off with the positive. Despite getting our delivery order wrong, the staff had no issue replacing the incorrect items and coming back. They were super nice and accommodating from the very beginning. Moving along. We ordered two sandwiches and one personal pizza. The bread on everything was great – fresh and crispy. The fresh mozzarella on my mortadella sandwich was also delicious, which made me wonder why the cheese on my pizza wasn’t. We got a supreme and were pretty unimpressed with the too sweet sauce and the generic-tasting cheese. I ALWAYS look forward to leftovers, but I’m sorry to say that half of my pie went completely untouched. My sandwich had pesto on it, but the pesto tasted store-bought, not what I expected from an Italian restaurant. It gave the sub a strange after-taste. I’m not sure what sandwich my fiancé ordered, but he was unhappy with the lack of meat and the taste of their«special sauce». Again, I’m really sad to leave this review because the staff was VERY nice. I’m hoping this was just a fluke since everyone else seems to love it. I know they’re new, so maybe we’ll try again in a month or two.

First time eating lunch here and it certainly will not be my last ! I ordered a brooklyn club! Fresh mozz, grilled chicken, broccoli rabe, and roasted red pepers! yum! The Bocellis signature balsamic dressing put the sandwich over the top! You really don’t come by places like this too often, it is a true gem brought to the heights of Jersey city. I absolutely loved the interior, its a must see! Great food, reasonable prices, and an overall great dining experience. Highly recommended.

My family and I traveled through Jersey City this past weekend and were looking for a quick place to grab a late lunch. Thank goodness we stepped into Bocelli’s, boy were in for such a treat! LOVEDIT. We all got something different– between the sandwiches, salads, and homemade pasta salad. We ended up sitting down and really enjoying the beautiful décor. It made me feel like I was at my grandma’s house in Italy! Truly one of the best deli’s I have been to in a long time! We will all definitely be returning. We even took home some of their homemade desserts. You can guarantee I will be making the trip back to Bocelli’s soon!

I’ve been waiting for this place to open for several weeks now, and I found out last week that they had had a soft opening. I finally made my way over there to grab some sandwiches for my husband and myself before game 7 of the NY Rangers against the Capitols. I ordered the Crustini Panini with fresh mozzarella, smoked ham, roasted turkey, and roasted red peppers. All of the paninis are made with their homemade foccacia bread with Bocelli’s chips and their roasted garlic balsamic dressing. I didn’t make it home fast enough to avoid soggy edges to my sandwich which was caused by the steam from the heat of the sandwich. However, this panini was seriously good, especially when dipped in the balsamic dressing. Wow, that dressing is AMAZINGLYDELICIOUS! I ate the first half of my sandwich without it, which was still great but the dressing is just ridiculous. The chips aren’t potato chips like I had suspected. Instead, they’re little crunchy, garlicky crostini breads. If you like croutons, you’ll really love their«chips,» especially in that dressing. Getting a theme here? My husband ordered #12, the italian chicken cutlet topped with smoked mozzarella and broccoli rabe. We love smoked mozzarella! It’s so subtle but it’s an excellent technique to elevate and boost that mozzarella flavor. My husband’s sandwich was really good, again, I dipped my bite into the dressing. Yumm! We didn’t eat in the restaurant but while I waited for our order(about 5 – 10 minutes), I walked around and took a look. They have a few small tables and some stools by the front window. They also have a bathroom, which is nice because a lot of small places don’t have one around here. They also have several shelves and displays with dried pasta, jars of sauce, cookies, chocolates, olives, olive oil, and other Italian-made goodies! Prices seem really reasonable, especially compared to places like Eataly in the city. They also sell fresh pasta sauce, as well as fresh ravioli in a variety of flavors like broccoli with sausage, cheese, eggplant and wild truffle. At the counter, they have fresh mozzarella, bocaccini, pasta salad, olives, roasted peppers, etc. I also spotted some desserts but didn’t try any of them, but they looked pretty good. However, I noticed that the cannolis were pre-filled, which I’m not really a fan of. I prefer when they fill the cannolis to order. It leaves the shells nice and crunchy and the filling cool and fresh. The décor is really nice and so different than anything else in the Heights. They’ve done an excellent job making this place feel so home-y with the wooden shelving and faux wooden crossbeams. The vibrant yellow paint and the exposed brick details really add to it’s overall warmth and charm. One important thing to take not of is that at the moment, they are not accepting credit or debit. They are cash only! This may change in time though. Also, if you have any food allergies, please let them know before ordering. It’s advised on their menu so I’m guessing that they are allergy-friendly! Bocelli’s, we’re so glad you’re in the neighborhood!
