Their service has gone from ok to really bad. Because downtown JC now has other 24 hour options I don’t bother going there any more. I believe those that live here in JC have higher standards and they should too.

I’ve lived in the area for a few years now and finally decided to give this a shot since I’ve grown tired of trekking to Shop Rite for cold cuts. As soon as I walk in, the guy behind the deli counter disappears. I wait a minute or 2 for him to return and finally ask the guy behind the register to get him. He feebly calls out«sandwich» a few times and another minute or 2 go by. The guy behind the register finally decides he’ll help me and I tell him I just want half a pound of swiss cheese. He throws on a single glove and proceeds to start slicing. He slices away and throws the cheese onto the scale. At this point, he puts the price as $ 9/lb when the board directly over his head lists it as $ 6.99/lb. I ask him about this and he smiles and says the sign is old and hasn’t been updated in years. I say to him that he should update it and his smile grows bigger — I leave in a rather unpleasant mood. I get home and start throwing some cheese on my sandwich only to find multiple pieces of the plastic wrap from the cheese in between the slices. I will not be going back.

Nasty. Go ahead and order an omelette. They’ll throw 2 eggs into a dirty bowl, add some sandwich veggies, throw it in the microwave, and throw it in a container with some toast. Forget about the hash browns that are listed– that won’t be included. I understand that you get what you pay for, but come on. If you are going to list breakfast items, then at least don’t cook it like that. They clearly need to stick to sandwiches only.

When I’m still sane enough to avoid Hollywood Fried Chicken I’ll grab a late night drunk grub here. Their deli sandwiches are always scrumptious and I can always grab a bag of hot Cheetos. The staff is always courteous and helpful and you can usually catch a Taco and Paco sighting here.

Stopped in here the other weeknight after pending a few hours at Barcade down the street. A friend and I split a roast beef sandwich with tomatoes and mustard on it. The meat was freshly sliced right in front of me but they didn’t want to open the new thing of provolone. Decent late night sandwich at like 2am, no complaints.

Uhhh… so my fourth visit to this deli absolutely did not go so well. The usual guy at the counter was there. I asked how he was doing and he didn’t acknowledge me. I thought in my head, «OK, that’s odd,» as I turned to the menu board. After glancing back at him, he let out a huge yawn and nodded his head ever so slightly, again remaining silent. Seeing this action as a rather unenthusiastic signal, I gave him my order of grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, and fresh mozarrella on a sub roll. So he pops the grilled chicken in the microwave, then proceeds to the two parts of the sub roll and puts in a very large amount of mayonnaise on it. Granted, I did not ask for mayonnaise, and usually this same person would ask me first prior to dumping the mayo on. I thought to myself that it was forgivable because I didn’t say anything. Anyway, so he then turns to the member of the female persuasion behind me. All of a sudden he lights up, greeting her and taking the initiative to ask questions about her order that he should have asked me. On the way home, I was thinking how odd that experience was. Then I realized that during my previous visits, I was never alone. During these three prior visits, I was in the company of a close female friend of mine. When I got home, I unwrapped the sandwich and was highly disappointed. I scraped off the mayonnaise and realized there wasn’t much left of the sandwich. There wasn’t much lettuce at all, and the portion size was clearly smaller this time around compared to the last time I ordered here. Also, I had ordered fresh mozzarella and not only did I receive the sliced cheese, there was only one slice located on half of the sandwich. Ok, so to the guy at the counter at 9pm on Thursday nights: 1. She is too young for you. 2. No offense to her, but she really wasn’t that hot. 3. As a fellow dude, I understand that you will treat the ladies in a manner different from how you act towards guys, but please, at least act civilly and focus on the task at hand. I’m not asking for a bromance here. I suppose that next time, I will have to present myself as female in order to receive acceptable service. Since that is not possible, I probably won’t be back unless I have female companionship.

This place is the classic hood bodega. It is open every second of every single day. They sell everything. Subs with fresh sliced Boars Head, Gatorade, chocolate milk, Doritos, Pringles, Ben & Jerry’s, cigarettes, condoms. Basically everything you could possible want at 4AM besides booze. The dudes who run it seem to by Egyptian and are mad chill. The place is always sweltering, winter or summer, so I’d refrain from buying chocolate bars if I were you. But otherwise, do not sleep on 24 – 7JC.

It’s a 7 – 11 with above average sandwiches and less overall selection. One of very few 24 hour places in the area, but if the sun is out, you’ve got many better options.

I’ve been here a bunch, One time I asked the dude how he was doing… he replied«same fucking shit every fucking day» I thought that was very amusing and I like the vibe inside. although the place is full of junk food and late night emergency food, the sandwiches are fine. Its great to know there is a 24⁄7 spot in the hood… Im also under the impression that these dudes dont sleep. no matter what time of day or night or early morning its seems to be the same dudes working… we all like hard workers… right?!!

I totally agree with the other 2 reviews, this place makes a damn good sandwich at 5 in the morning! Came here after our VIP Diner disaster, and will always in the future head directly to Newark Ave, do not pass go, do not collect etc… I got a great turkey sammy, he got some sort of grilled chicken one. Lots of varieties of chicken, marinated and grilled. We devoured them and cursed the hour we wasted at VIP. F that place.

I was in JC downtown with friends during our bar crawl session. After hitting a couple of bars in Hoboken and JC downtown we all felt the need to feed ourselves with a quick snack. When it comes to odd hours food options, JC doesn’t have many options. I think there are two delis and a other place open 24⁄7. We tried this deli place after the recommendation of one of my friends who lives in downtown. Surprisingly the food was good considering it was coming out the deli at 3 am in the morning. I got the chicken salad sandwich which was good. Now I know where to go to grab a quick tasty sandwich during odd hours in JC downtown.

So, if you live in downtown JC, you’ve been to downtown Jersey City’s local 24 – 7 convenience store to pick up gum, Ben & Jerry’s, a bag of chips, or whatever else you need at all hours of the day and night. This place is surely good for that. But, you know what else this place is good for? Sandwiches. Delicious, fresh Boar’s Head sammys. One night after way too many beers at Barcade, I got the beer munchies and vowing never to go to HFC(Hollywood Fried Chicken) again, I stepped into this place to grab some chips. The man behind the counter offered to make me a sandwich. Not sure if he follows me on Unilocal or if he saw the hunger gleam in my eye but, clearly he knew I was a sucker for the sandwich. «Give me ahh turkey, some cheese, a little mayo/mustard, lettuce and tomatoes please», I asked this lovely Sandwich hero(referring to the man not the type of sandwich). What came out was this perfect sandwich with fresh as can be deli meats and toppings. It was delicious. It was also again 2:30AM and 4 heavy beers down so yes everything is delicious, but, this just felt different, special. Want to know how much this sandwich cost? Guess! Ok, give up? $ 4.50. Yes, four dollars and fifty cents for a large, fresh, late night/early morning, satisfying sandwich. I’m so excited for you, my recent discovery and love, dear 24 – 7. We are going to share in many a sandwich memory together.
