TSC Direct Insurance

I’m a fan of customer reviews because they tell you a lot about a company. Some reviews are great, other’s are terrible but, I don’t base my decision on just that.
I had a great experience when I was on the phone receiving a quote from TSC. I was wondering where they had been all my life. They told me that they didn’t bother spending their money on a «Gekko», they’d rather thrive on «word of mouth» referrals. Sounded pretty good. The rate they quoted me for was FANTASTIC! But, you know how they say that, «1 bad apple spoils the whole bunch»?
Well, I read about 10 reviews that all had really bad ratings. Now, the ratings aren’t what turned me off, it was the fact that ALL of the bad ratings said that same thing. TSC will drop you in a heartbeat. TSC will not return calls, TSC will cancel your policy because of extra mileage. TSC will cancel your policy if you move 1 mile from your original home, TSC will do this to long time customers and have no remorse of wouldn’t even care to salvage a customer relationship.
If you were in a relationship for 10 years, wouldn’t it piss you off that your ex just walked away from you because you gained 2 or 3 pounds? Wow, TSC… you almost had me. My car and family are too important to leave them in your hands.

After well over a decade being a customer, I received a notice that my auto insurance would not be renewed. This was due to a mileage change according to a letter that I received in the mail. I thought it was a mistake, because my commute went from only 5 miles to 11 miles.
I called the company looking to speak with «Penny Hart», as this was the name that was listed in the letter that I should call if I had any questions. I spoke with customer service who gave me an attitude when I asked for her, and they claimed she did not exist. However, they acknowledged sending out the letter and would handle it. I explained my confusion over the cancellation, because my commute would still remain below the estimated 10K miles that I list every renewal, in fact it would be only 6K and change. They claimed it was excessive and past the ‘standard’. I then asked what the ‘standard’ was? They said they could not disclose that information. I then went on to explain that over the last 10 years I’ve only put 50K on this vehicle with no spike in usage, and it has been consistent, and they said– «I don’t know what to tell you»… I then told them as a long time customer that I felt insulted. That’s when they hung up on me.
It’s really sad companies treat their long term customers in this manner. Things seem to be backwards at TSC. You’re the paying customer, but you can’t get them to answer a simple question. They will have plenty of personal questions for you to answer though and seek loads of private information.
Also, what’s with sending out these notices in ALL CAPITOL LETTERS? No need to shout at your clients, where are your manners?
I’m sorry to see I was not alone and noticed in other reviews elsewhere that they were doing the same thing to other long time customers.

I was so disappointed with TSC; I have had TSC for almost 3 years; I remember when I was doing the application they have asked me to provide my sister driver license # who doesn’t even live with us and moved to another state. Just because she was leaving 1 year prior they still wanted me to provide her information and proof of address; which I didn’t want of course; I feel like its an invasion of privacy to call and ask her to provide her infos. After going back and forth with the agent she decided to let go the question but the amounts of stupid questions they asked on that application (which I also did over the phone) is too much. When I gave my work address and phone # they even called to make sure I was working there and I wasn’t lying … really TSC
Well I have decided to refer my aunt because of the good rate compare to Geico she had
We were on the phone with the agent; nothing was wrong about me helping her since she barely speaks English; all questions were answered she was approved took the money and we mailed the questionnaires (same questions the agent asked over the phone; I guess they want you to know if you are lying or what). They sent her another paper asking for more infos on her previous address; how she gets to work; what she does for work; name of the employer which we again sent the infos then called them.
the problem started because I was on the phone and told the agent why do they have to ask those questions 3 times; we already sent those information; She even asked my aunt to provide her sister informations since she used to live at her sister’s years ago which I found stupid if they already got her proof of address stating that she doesn’t live there anymore. she didn’t want to speak to us (me actually because I was on the phone with my aunt) and told me that she will give her a call instead which she never did.
That was in October; no another questionnaire came or cancellation notice came trough the mail until November she got the statement requested to pay for December. She sent December payment right away then yesterday she got the payment check back stating that her policy has been cancel since November (which doesn’t make sense why would you request payment for December; never asked for additional infos and the next things you know oops you are no longer with us) I just called them and the agent told me that there’s nothing that they can do everything they have tried to call her her phone was busy which is untrue; first most cell phone will have two lines which its rare to be bz unless something is wrong with the phone the next day and also if first time you call it’s bz; call again; second there’s another phone # provided; the house # why nobody called to say anything and third mail is available you need more infos you sent a notice
so they didn’t want to reconsider her policy
Thank God I AM NOT WITH THEM ANYMORE BECAUSE I MOVED TO ANOTHER STATE

Well played TSC well played indeed, adding another business profile to help your ratings, alas here’s my first review on their original Unilocal listing.
Absolutely disgusting company, for many of many reasons… But here’s just a few things that led me to this amount of discontent. On a side note I will say their prices are excellent but their polices just nearly ruin the frugality.
— The amount of information that they request on a very regular basis.
— Customer service works way against you, not there to help you at all.
— Call backs take 1 – 2 days minimum
— They’ll drop you for anything… (Like changing your address 1 mile west in the same town)
— No dealerships/​leasing companies know of them making it very difficult to deal with
both parties on purchase of new vehicle (After faxing it from the dealership 2x they continually called me requesting the purchase information, until I finally scanned it and emailed it to someone while on the phone with them… They called me about a week later requesting the same information) WTF?
— Again the amount of information that they continually request is ABSURD!!!
— Really, REALLY do you really need the driving information and SSN# of an aunt that lives in Arizona that has had no ties to NY for over 20 something years? REALLY??? Yes this happened!!!
If you want a good rate and don’t mind jumping through hoops lined with razor wire than this place is aces, other than their rates I can’t really say too much positive about them.

I’ve been with u guys for about 11 yrs never ever had a problem. If i needed something faxed or sent in the mail it eas there… The professionalism is awesome… Will continue to stay with u guys also the rates r the best around…

Well, the love affair is coming to a close… I’ve had car insurance with this company for many many years & as soon as I called to inform them that I was moving last Sept/​Oct was when their tune began to change. Yesterday I got my PINK ENVELOPE in the mail informing me that I’m not eligible for renewal aka: THEY’RE DROPPING ME LIKE A HOT POTATO! But I kinda saw it coming due to scanning several Unilocal reviews late last year & learning how this company treats people who actually «drive» their cars!
My experience /​what one can expect as a TCS DIRECT customer…
*The annual questionnaire (for renewal) — You gotta do this EVERY SINGLE YEAR if you want to even be considered to remain a customer! I lived alone prior to my move so no problem. When my boyfriend & I got our place they asked for his name, a copy of his license & insurance card. I told them my boyfriend won’t be driving my car as he has his own! Didn’t matter. I still had to send it to them. No ifs, ands or buts about it!
A few of the questions — «Do you use the car for business or pleasure»?
«Where do you work»? (provide company name & full address)
«How do you get to work»? (If you state «drive» you must tell them approx. how many miles. If not you have to tell them HOW YOU GET TO WORK whether it be carpool, public transportation & if public trans you have to list what buses &/​or trains you take. Anyway, last year, for the first time ever, they decided to call me & ask me (pry) with multiple questions about how I get to work. I mean like really pushing me to «admit» that I use the car to get to work. Me — «Ok, well yes, I don’t live that far so sometimes I do end up driving to work». Them — «how often would you say you drive to work? A few times a week, a few times a month»? (Seriously!!!) Them — «do you drive to work in the snow & how often would you say you do that»? WTF!!! I was getting the impression that I’d been insured for way to long with this company at that point & maybe they were looking for an excuse to drop me before I have an accident or something & then they actually would have to pay up! I considered it might be time to begin shopping around but then other more important things arose & I put it to the back burner! BIG MISTAKE!
Just filled out my annual questionnaire last month. (When I moved & went thru the 3^rd degree yet again, it was established that I would be «driving» to work for the most part)! Anyway, I listed the approx. one way mileage as 20 miles daily. I’ve been waiting to see if I would be getting my policy renewal soon. NOT! Honestly, I think a few extra dollars spent will be well worth it elsewhere after dealing with this nonsense! Oh, also TSC DIRECT asks you to «refer a friend» & they’ll send you a gift if they insure them. I actually referred my supervisor at work & a few co-​workers. My supervisor was approved. At one point last year, she found out by accident that there was some lapse in her insurance! I think she was calling to make a payment when she discovered this. She had no idea she was driving for a period of time without being covered! She was never notified. Basically, if stopped by police, she probably would’ve been arrested. Way to go TSC! I was so embarrassed since I «referred» her. Oh, my free gift was one on those coffee cups advertising TSC DIRECT ofcourse! The cheap piece of crap started leaking within a few months… A sign perhaps… So that’s what I got for all my years of being an excellent customer & even sending business their way. My final words to TSC DIRECT: Go take a LONG drive off a short pier MO’FO’s!
NOTE: Wasted no time. Got new coverage effective immediately with the GREEN! It was a breeze & cheaper too. Why did I wait so long to make the switch? I’m so looking forward to notifying TSC & getting a refund on my last payment! Don’t want to give them another penny!

They don’t seem to know what they are doing. I am a young/​healthy person and I pay close to $ 200 a month and when I went to a first time preventive care, I was billed for most of the charges for the primary care visit. They paid close to $ 40 to the primary care physician (insulting for an MD fee). I no longer have the insurance and it was a great decision to move on out of their business. They need a good financial analyst there to get their fees straighten.

So. i had tsc and it was fine for 5 years… til i got into an accident and needed them to email me a copy of my insurance card. Called them on the spot and was informed that after a certain time they are only open for new customers and that i would have to wait until monday to get the card because they are closed on the weekends. So basically they are ok until u really need them. Needless to say i changed insurance company because of this… not a way to do business… even if they are a cut rate insurance company… i guess thats the reason they have cheap rates… my advise… dont bother… i got progressive for less and better ser​vice​.ps. the one star rating is because i was forced to give it a star rating

I have been with Tsc for 15 years Not only are the rates the cheapest around, but the customer service over the phone and in person is top notch. I’ve had to make two claims over the years and both were resolved quickly and stress free Thank you!

Can this take negative stars because this is exactly what it deserves. This is the trick to get with this insurance company SAY YOU LIVE ALONE!!! They hassled me to give them driver license numbers and Date of births of a roommate that won’t even drive my car! Which I feel is a violation of a persons confidential information. Why on earth will they need a persons information if they are not a driving my car. So you know what they did they CANCELLED MY POLICY because I was unable to retrieve that persons information. I have a great driving record paid them nearly $ 600 as a first months payment for them to tell me they are letting me go!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. If you scratch your ass wrong they’ll let you go. They let everyone go for the simplest things! Freaking horrible!
