Our specialty is providing our customers with a positive experience while selecting custom window treatments or carpeting for their home or office. We carry Hunter Douglas Window Treatments such as Silhouettes, Vignette Roman Shades, Country Wood Blinds, Everwood Faux Wood Blinds, Modern Precious, Metals, Luminette, Pirouette, Skyline, Roller Shades, Designer Screen Shades and Cadence. We specialize in custom drapery, shades, valances, bedding and pillows to compliment your décor. We carry thousands of fabrics in all textures and styles such as Kravet, Duralee, Robert Allen, Carole, Kasmir and many other fabric houses. Reupholster your worn chair or sofa and we can make it look fabulous. Our selection of carpet includes cut pile, berbers, patterns and commercial styles. We can expertly assist you with color and if you are considering custom window treatments, we can provide to scale drawings of the styles you have selected so that you can better visualize the completed look.

History

Established in 1992.

We started our business in 1992 under the name Floor Coverings International. In 2002 we changed our name to Flooring and Window Décor, Inc. to better reflect our business model. Kathy Grannis, the owner, felt there was a lack of customer service in this industry. Buying flooring and window treatments in the store was difficult. The lighting was not the same as in the home and it was difficult for salepeople to make recommendations without seeing the space. When salespeople did come to the home, they were often inexperienced and working on a commission. She also realized that by not having a retail store and having to hire employees to sit in the store all day, she could offer discounted pricing. Her mobile showroom contains thousands of fabrics, samples of Hunter Douglas blinds and shades, and hundreds of carpet samples. Over the past 22 years we have established a large customer base. 97% of our business is either from our existing customers placing new orders, or referrals.

Kathy attends design shows and seminars on a regular basis, to keep up with new products, and trends. With 20 years of experience in this industry, she is patient and listens to her customers needs. Utilizing the latest design software, she can present detailed drawings to her clients. By viewing the area to be carpeted, we can recommend a style based on wear patterns. Seam placement will also be discussed. Custom window treatment designs can be difficult for the customer and Kathy can guide you to a fabulous design. She offers a free consultation so that you can determine if her ideas and resources will work for you. Our services are offered in both Nassau & Suffolk County & Queens, New York. Kathy’s goal is to provide the very best design experience for every client.
