We are a hookah lounge that specialized in serving top quality names like star buzz, social smoke, haze, cloud 9 tobacco that doesnt include tar, and only 5% nicotine, We provide real fruit hookah.

We are a café that serves sodas and ice teas, in addition to hot drinks like cappucinos, hot chocolates, herb teas and coffee.

We are a restaurant that serve vegetarian and vegan food like hummus, falafel and a wide varities of salads, in addition to our dessert menu which include cheese cake, chocolate cake, and baklava.

History

Established in 2006.

We rcognized that Jenkintown is lacking a kind of café for young people to meet up and enjoy an evening for a smoke, a drink or attend a live music event to socialize with others, so we decided to open our location in PA & also in FL.

We established Fig café cause of the owner experience and background in the restaurant business and his hertiage which is European, African, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and American.

Fig Café represents and supports diversity and welcomes all races, religions, sexes from all walks of life, and we have something to provide to every single customer no matter what is their background and hertiage and that what are we believe in.

The owner Waleed was born in Alexandria Egypt which is a multi cultural city with a population of Greek, Armenian, French, Italian, Middle Eastern, Nubian, & African heritage. this melting pot affected the way Waleed’s back ground and knowledge, also he went to a French school «college Saint Mark», and got a BA in history from Alexandria University, not to mention that Alexandria is the biggest port in Egypt, so Waleed used to meet seacrews from all over the globe.

in 2006 Waleed established Fig Café in Jenkintown, PA, which provided its uniqe set up and kind of atmosphere to Jenkintown and the surrounding nighbohoods. and provided jobs to young people.

I really wanted to like this place but I kind of gave up. Tried coming three different Saturday’s and each time there couldn’t have been more than 10 people total. Tonight it was freezing in there, like literally everyone had on there winter coats still! Chicken fingers and fries were awful, like how do you mess up fries? They didn’t cook them long enough so they were soggy. The only reason why they get 2⁄5 stars instead of one is the fact they keep their bathrooms clean which is always a plus. I don’t think I’m probably going to come out to this spot anymore…

Some reviews on here are not great but I still came in here tonight just to see for myself.
1) bathrooms were fine– it wasn’t as dirty as people said it was. Maybe it is dirty or whatever on certain nights
2) hookahs are at such a good price ! $ 10 for basic and $ 15 for Star buzz and cloud 9. Or it’s $ 10-​$ 15 per person for unlimited hookah! Good deal for either or
3) they have djs on the weekends and music is awesome! Reggae and r&b. You have to pay $ 2 per person as cover which is no biggie
4) they don’t serve alcohol but it’s byob!
5) customer service — pretty good– they cleaned out our coals twice
6) bill– good price, gratuity was included
2 hookah, 1 bubble thing, 1 water bottle plus tip was $ 48. Pretty good for 4 people!
Overall– I’ll definitely come back to this hookah spot! Definitely recommend to those in the area!

I want to like this place, and I do, I just won’t go out of my way to go there. This is one of the older hookah joints in the area (that I know of, anyway) so they have a loyal customer base.
The hookahs themselves are a little overpriced, and the pipes are often cracked with flimsy plastic hoses. Maybe I’m way out of line, but you’d think a hookah place (which is a luxury experience) would invest a little more in their equipment.
Shisha offerings are just average; Al Fakher, Starbuzz, and a few other uninspiring brands. It’s really dimly lit inside, and loud because of the acoustics. Service is hit or miss. However, the business model seems to work for them, so more power to them.

My friend and I wanted to go to a hookah lounge down in the city but it was getting late so we decided to try this out. Honestly, I wish I drove the 30 minutes down to the city because this place felt disgusting. The bathroom was downright horrible and creepy. It wasn’t clean, the toilet was clogged, they ran out of toilet paper and it felt like one of those asylum rooms with writing on the walls. The hookah wasn’t really strong and the music they were playing was lame but the price was decent. I’d recommend going to Orient Café that’s so much cleaner. It’s a little pricer but it’s definitely worth it.

I love this place as much for what it isn’t, as for what it is. So many hookah bars today are trying to be nightclubs, which is fine if you are in the mood for loud music, and flashing lights. On those occasions when you aren’t, though, it’s nice to go to a place that is comfortable just being a hookah bar. The Fig Café is one of those places.
The night we went we were pleasantly surprised to find a live jazz performance. It’s possible that live jazz isn’t keeping with the tradition of hookah lounges going back through the ages, but I am willing to indulge them this one violation. The jazz band was great, and I often myself nodding my head or tapping out the rhythm while still conversing with my companions. The space is a little run down, which accounts for the one-​star deduction, but even that contributes to the feel of an authentic middle eastern hookah bar.
Perhaps most important, is the great service we received from the staff. They were super-​attentive to all of our needs, and made us feel right at home. I’m looking forward to going back.

I always liked coming to The Fig, but after awhile I found places that were much more exciting and atmosphere was much better. The Fig does have a cozy/​hidden atmosphere, but the the same times its awfully ventilated. The bathrooms aren’t the best, actually there not very clean. The prices are a little high for something’s, especially bubbles to use while smoking. The only thing I’m not happy with us that there’s so many flavors and you can’t try them all like other places I been to. For the amount of money you pay, you should be able to change in a agreeable amount of time. The smoothies are awesome, especially the piña colada one! I don’t like the fact that of you have a group everyone has to spend 5 $ minimum even after you all chip in to smoke. The other plus is that it’s BYOB. I haven’t had the food so I cannot begin to speculate. This place is A-​OK, it could use some changes.

The Fig Café was my first experience in a Hookah Lounge. It was early 2012 and I had just moved to Jenkintown for work. I found the experience to be very welcoming to newcomers. My exposure to Hookahs was pretty minimal. The staff was very helpful.
I had a lemon mint hookah, which is perfect for beginners; not too heavy leaves a refreshing sensation. I believe I also ordered some stuffed grape leaves to snack on, which was also a pleasant first experience.
They often have good live music and a great social environment. My only real complaint was the ventilation not being particularly great, leaving the café full of smoke most of the time.
It’s close to a couple of nearby bars in walking distance and is a overall good experience. If you’re in the area and haven’t been to a hookah lounge before, you should give them a shot.

Hidden hookah lounge in the middle of Jenkintown. Unfortunately it needs to stay hidden.
The good: The staff is friendly, the hookah is reasonable, the place is cozy.
The bad: The ventilation is poor. The food is awful. The bathroom is downright disgusting.
After braving the frigid temps to find a cozy relaxing spot where my husband wanted to smoke some hookah, we found ourselves in a tiny, hidden spot that didn’t even look like it belonged there. We ventured in and though it was very dim, it was cozy with minimal décor. It did have a TV towards the back of the room for those (myself) who don’t smoke and wanted other forms of entertainment. Though they put some work into the room with some fresh paint and comfy couches, the kitchen and bathroom was severely lacking some attention. It was scary trying to use the bathroom as it was filthy and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since the dawn of time. They had a couch turned on its side just outside of the bathroom to be used as a pedestal for a lamp.
Unfortunately I placed our order before going to the bathroom. Had I seen the bathroom and kitchen beforehand, I would not have ordered anything to eat. But since I wasn’t smoking and wanted to nibble, I ordered some light snacks for us — the hummus and falafel. The hummus was so bland. I could get better tasting hummus from the supermarket. The falafel came wrapped in a pita and was downright awful. I’ve had better falafel at the food court in the mall. It didn’t taste mediterranean or authentic at all.
My husband thought the hookah was just ok but the price was fairly decent. Maybe our standards are higher because we’ve frequented other authentic hookah lounges and have traveled to the middle east where hookah is top notch and like a ritual for some.
I can see why many people rated it high as this hookah lounge has no competition in the area. It was jam packed the night we went and people were still coming in when we left.

Fig café is a great little spot, but maybe not for the faint of heart. It’s tucked away very well and may require a few trips around the block to find, the ventilation is not the best, and the couches are indeed in slight disrepair, but… if you’re looking for a cozy, casual place to smoke hookah and drink tea (in my case — they are BYO and have a light menu) without spending a lot, it’s perfect. The waitstaff is pleasant but again, casual (that is, they’re not going to kiss your ass), and I found very attentive (it’s a hookah bar, not McDonald’s, everyone is supposed to be leisurely). The hookah itself was good, made well by you can tell veteran smokers (my only wish is that they used Coco Nara coals instead of quick light, but I’m just spoiled from smoking at home), and they do fruit bowls which I recommend, particularly mango Al Fakher with pineapple bowl, and the mint tea is delicious.
Bottom line — if you’re looking for a low key, comfortable place to smoke, this place is perfect. If you want ultra plush décor and swanky waitstaff (and most likely, tiny, poorly packed bowls), go to Center City and pay three times as much.

This place has a really chill atmosphere. The staff does not go down your throat and if you ask for recommendations, they are sure to give you advice on what they think goes well together. Try the hookah with ice! It doesn’t make your throat dry and gives you a refreshing sensation.

You could drive by the Fig Café a million times and not know it was there OR that it was actually in business, (from the outside, it looks like a bunch of ratty couches and rugs). Always wanting to try out a new place, I dragged my husband here (of course no kids should come in here) and had a great time. It’s BYOB so you can bring some drinks (an cheap bottle of champagne was my choice – and a perfect choice I should add); relax and smoke the hookah! We chatted it up with a friendly couple nearby and also got great, friendly service. My only complaint is that the ventilation could use some work, and the place is a tad on the ratty side, but I think you kind of expect that in a hookah lounge.
PS– I’ve also heard that they make good smoothies

This is one of my regular haunts. The Fig has a very relaxing atmosphere that allows you to sit back and enjoy. The interior is very cozy and dim. They have tapestries hanging off the walls, dozens of comfy couches and some very interesting videos playing on their TVs.
The hookahs are by far the lowest price I have ever seen at a lounge ($ 13.00 at the highest). Great selection of flavors, which you are able to mix together, and you have the option to get your hookah ‘iced’ if you desire!
The food is strictly Mediterranean. I haven’t tried it all, but the hummus and salads are very good. Most definitely worth trying.
The best part, in my opinion, about Fig is the smoothies. Fresh fruit and a decent amount of options that are also mixable! (May I recommend the strawberry banana?)
The servers are the most down-​to-​earth, friendly people who you can meet, too. Always checking up on you, getting you a fresh coal or a new beverage. You can tell that they all really love working at this place and they are part of the reason why I love going here so often.

Theres no hookah bar quite like the fig. Definitely one of the most relaxed, chill environments in all of philadelphia. Theres nothing like lounging out on one of the couches, and smoking a hookah while watching some crazy videos of people doing reckless things. The waiters and waitresses are all really cool people (although the guy chris is fugazi and doesnt know anything about baseball). The owner Walid is very friendly, and has some crazy stories to share about his times he’s visited europe. FYI try a grape+cherry+lemon hookah or a mango in a real fruit pineapple. you wont regret it.

This place is great! You can get a hookah for around $ 10 with $ 5 per extra hose. They have a lot of flavors and you can add milk. You can also get a tube (the better word escapes me right now) and bubble solution to blow smoke bubbles. The only food I’ve had here was a smoothie, which was pretty delicious.
The servers are really friendly, attentive, and funny. We always have nice conversations with them and never had to wait long for a fresh coal. They do have live music some nights, but I haven’t experienced it yet. There are both tables and couches and both are comfy.
