Smuggler’s Notch Inn

I stayed here for an entire week. The inn was super cozy and the inn keeper was very cordial and accommodating :). I like the room. Shower was good but air runs very cold! Freezing at times for my liking. Tavern was awesome. Lots of locals come there and live bands too! The food was great! I ate here 4 days outa my 7! I would def stay here again. Just pack an extra blanket to stay warm :)

Our whole extended family rented the Inn for my son’s destination wedding. It was wonderful to all be together in an affordable and charming Inn. Since the rooms are on the second floor, we also rented Hannah’s House for my in-​laws so they would be on one level. The Inn and Hannah’s house was clean and nicely appointed. It was also very convenient to have a breakfast place attached — The Mix. The breakfast selection was good. There was also a Tavern in the basement. My husband and I had lunch there and the food was tasty and the waiter very nice. The Inn is run by a husband and wife team — Pat and Lisa, very nice people and very laid back. My advice to anybody making a reservation or staying there would be to be patient. It is worth it. Lucille Fisher

If you’re tired of overpriced foodie spots, come here for a simple, satisfying meal — the Tavern. Two words: outdoor seating. First visit I had a margarita, on special that night, and the green salad with chicken that they feature on the menu. The margarita was voluminous and the salad was just fine — no wilted greens or weird flavors. Tonight we had beers and the burgers (on special with choices of toppings). The burgers were great. And did I mention outdoor seating?

This review is for the tavern which is in the basement of the inn. We’ve been here more than 100 times. It a bar with mostly pub grub and a few upscale items. It’s reliable and predictable and not very expensive. The food is always at least good to great. Fries crispy. Local beef burger done correctly with toasted bun. Chicken club is a favorite. Caesar and house salads good quality. Variety of appetizers including the usual natchos and wings. One day a week they have prime rib and it’s on par with many upscale restaurants. Drinks are good, good beer selection. Outdoor seating. Take out.
If you’re satisfied with a pub setting and good pub food, you can’t really go wrong here.

Bar downstairs, really elegant upstairs. It’s like two totally different atmospheres. Even though there was a live band, we weren’t disturbed upstairs. Our young waiter (maybe 18 – 20 years old, dark curly-​ish hair) was excellent and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend!

The Inn is worth exploring some more… seems very charming albeit this review is for the bar downstairs.
Not a bad spot for drinks with super friendly bar staff. Typical pub fare with a decent attempt at local fare offerings. Really loved the heavy pours of wine…

We chose the Smuggler’s Notch Inn for our Thanksgiving meal and were so glad we did. The gentleman who took our reservation was very friendly and explained their menu and seating times. We chose the first seating at 12:30 and besides us there was only one other table. The hostess was very welcoming, she told us about the Inn, the Thanksgiving meal, and the local area — she was very friendly and helpful throughout our meal. The Inn itself was very cool, old style wooden décor, simple with no frills. We sat next to the wood stove which was comfortable and which right next to the food! The food although simple was perfect, roasted turkey, roasted pork, fresh mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, carrots, homemade cranberry sauce, salad, and fresh baked pies. Everything was awesome, we couldn’t have been happier and the table next to us seemed to enjoy their meal also. The best part of the meal was when the fresh baked pies came out, apple, pecan, and pumpkin — right out of the oven and still warm! Perfect Thanksgiving meal! Next time we are in the area we will stop by for dinner. Highly Recommend.

We stayed here 2 nights. They were great about our late arrival and left a key for us. The linens were all really great quality and the beds were comfy. The restaurant downstairs has the best breakfast food we’ve ever had! On our last day they gave us coffee (which is amazing) to go. We would come back just for this place! There is also a bar on one side of the inn, which was great for a quick dinner. They have a nice restaurant attached as well.
Our room was advertised as a jacuzzi/​fireplace. The jacuzzi bathtub barely fit two of us (and I’m pretty small), but it was still fun. The fireplace was more of a stove, but it was a real-​gas burning one, so that helped keep the room really warm since the heat wasn’t very high. We would have been so cold without it!
Perfect distance to Smugg’s for great skiing!

When I first stepped through the doors, I felt like I had stepped into someone else’s house. I stayed in the 1king/​1twin room with my sister and a friend and we all had a great stay. It’s not a 4−5star place but the food at the restaurant was tasty and filling and the people were real laid back and down to earth.
There seemed to be a lot of things going on the weekends. Some quick tidbits to take note before you decide to stay here is that this place was built 1790s so the walls are not that thick. I imagine during the peak seasons, it can get kinda noisy. But during midweek or slow times, it’s probably not noisy.
They also don’t have a hair dryer but they had fresh towels and soap bars and private bath with each room. The room that we stayed in was warm and comfy. This is a great place to go just to relax. City folks, try to leave your gadgets at home because there aren’t many outlets. There also isn’t a television in every room but if you must need one to watch a dvd, then request one at the front desk because it’s on a first-​come, first-​serve basis. I was very surprised to learn that they did have wireless internet for their customers which was a definite plus because I was able to look up more things to do around the area.
We spent two nights here and everyone had a good night’s rest (no tossing or turning). If you’re planning to ski/​board at Smuggler’s Notch Resort then it’s a quick 5−10min drive down the road.
I would definitely recommend this place to others who are looking for a nice relaxing place to stay.
