Nearly a 5 star. I went here for the first time the other night on a Friday. I took my two young sons and I got the seafood buffet. It was pretty good overall. It was very busy by 5:30, but the dining room is huge, so no real issue. Nothing tastes like it got dumped out of a can and the southern food reminded me of what I grew up eating in South Ga. The sweet tea was good. I liked the fried shrimp, oysters, country ribs, and shrimp and grits. I will go back with the whole family for sure. Good job!

I forgot to post my review and pics from last month. There were 4 of us and I was the only one who got the buffet. The other 3 had the ribeye dinner. They all said it was excellent. I really enjoyed the buffet. A lot of seafood but other main dishes like hot wings. All the food was hot and delicious. The staff was very friendly also.

Excellent food. Come hungry but you will leave stuffed. Friday & Saturday nights they have seafood, chicken, BBQ, ribs, salad and soup bar, and many sides. Thursday evenings & Sunday lunch is more country foods. It is all you can eat. ONLYACCEPTCASHORPERSONALCHECKS.

Great food, large selection, super friendly people! I definitely recommend a stop over to the Redd House when in town! It’s a busy place, you’ll always see the parking lot full when it’s open, but there was no wait since there are plenty of tables. BBQ, chicken, and hush puppies were delicious. Fine southern cooking! Make sure you have cash or check, no cards accepted.

Can’t believe it took me so long to go to the redd house seeing I live less than 2 miles from there. My only complaints arw the price is a little much, I’ll explain more about that, and they do not accept credit/debt cards. That’s not really a big deal since they do accept checks lol. The price is steep but the quality of food more than makes up for it to me. I didn’t go expecting a cheap meal so I was not upset when the check came. I went with my wife and daughter and we all got the buffet. Everything I got was got like it was fresh from the kitchen. I think the only thing I was not to thrilled with was the hot wings but they are not what I went there for. I just saw them and tried them. Everything else was delicious and impressive. I’m a meat eater so I devoured the ribs and fried shrimp. I was pleasantly surprised to see the all the options of different types of seafood as well. I did not expect there to be much since this is I the middle of lil Olé Jackson county! We will be going back again and I would definitely suggest it to others.

So my cousin had a wedding dinner at this place on August 22, 2014. First problem driveway unpaved. Luckily a section was reserved for her guest because the place was crowded. The waitress was prompt about getting your drinks I asked for sweet tea that wasn’t. I ate from the buffet food was fair, but the problem was since we didn’t eat ALL our food some folks asked for a take out container. Can you believe we were told well you have to leave your plate at the front for take out so you wont add nothing else to the box. Also since I didn’t have any food left I asked for a small dessert box to get some wedding cake and I be darn if the waitress didn’t say the dessert box is 50 cents. Really lady bring the darn box. 1st and last visit. This takes the cake cash or check really get a credit card machine darn it.

Good country style seafood and other vittles. The BBQ was outstanding but the sauce, I think was average. It may have even been store-bought hickory flavored high fructose corn syrup. Green beans were good as was the burled schrimps. Scott said the sweet tea was good. I had water. It was good too. Be warned… They do not take credit cards. If you show up unprepared, expect to leave some of your party there as «ransom» while you drive 4.5 miles to the nearest ATM. All of the staff was friendly and helpful.

My parents moved our family from Atlanta to Jefferson around 1990. I, of coarse, found Jefferson lame as hell. We went to the Redd House very often. Back then I thought there was nothing special about this place. Just another run of the mill country diner, no better than Bruce’s(for those old enough to remember the resteraunt owned by Byrd Bruce, the mayor of Jefferson). I left Jefferson for the bright lights if Atlanta as soon as I could. Fast forward to today. It is almost impossible to find good country cooking in Atlanta. Either it is a crappy diner owned by foreigners or its some bold new chef trying to make my beloved southern cuisine into something new and flashy that I cannot or will not afford. That is fine, but its just not for me. The Redd house does southern cuisine the old fashioned way. Fresh vegetables. Man, these are the best greens outside of what I make at home. The fried chicken? Super crispy without being at all greasy. I hurt myself every time I eat here. And the price is not to shabby either. I don’t even mind that they don’t take credit cards. The staff is friendly, and the sweet tea is not hyper sweet like it is at other places, thank God. This is hands down my favorite country cooking resteraunt of all time. Luckily my mother still lives in Jefferson, so I have a reason to go often. But even if she didn’t, I would gladly drive the 75 miles from my house to go eat here. So in summation… Jefferson, ga is still lame. Redd House on the other hand, completely dilutes this lameness and makes it worth the drive up. After dinner, go get lost on the back roads and you will see some very pretty country. You’ll be glad you did.

Went last night for the Thursday night buffet and I wasn’t dissaponted. The service and food were all excellent. This place gets very busy but it is never too long of a wait for me as there are lots of tables. The bill was $ 11.24 for the buffet including a beverage and it was well worth it. I encourage everyone looking for southern cuisine to make a trip out there.

Very good southern seafood buffet; some things a little over-salted at times. If you don’t plan the trip to get there early, you’re going to wait in line. Pricy, but not at all out of line for what you get. As noted, do make sure you have some folding money with you, they don’t take cards.

The Redd House has incredible food and the perfect«not too fancy» atmosphere. I started dining there when I was a little kid after church on Sundays. Now 20 years later, it’s the food I dream of when I can get back to my hometown. Drew’s Tips: No credit cards, so bring cash /check. No matter how long the line is, it’s worth it. Don’t leave without trying the hushpuppies, fried squash, and cherry cobbler… wait…just try everything, it’s all great. Crap, I just started drooling.

Drove 40 miles to eat here based on other reviews. Not disappointed! Veggies cooked like Mamma did, pole beans, sweet potatoes, creamed corn, pork chops & fried fat back. Cornbread muffins & hush puppies were great. Fresh salad bar with home-made Chow-Chow. Dessert bar with apple, peach & blackberry cobbler … YUMMY!

Man, this place if off the charts! If you like your seafood fried then this place is a mecca. You will pretty much experience among the best you have at Redd House. Their fried catfish will rival your grandma’s, their fried oysters are outstanding and the hush-puppies are equal to or possibly better than Hymen’s in Charleston, SC. Why not 5 out of 5? A big no no in my opinion, they are cash only. We all know why some restaurants choose not to take credit cards and it’s not a good thing. An iPad is $ 300 and a Square is free with a small transaction fee. Raise your prices 2% and offer a cash discount if the 2% is the issue, which it isn’t. But to expect customers to walk around with cash in 2013 to me is always a ding, no matter what.

Worth the drive. We had chicken, fried catfish, delicious tender moist pork chops and streak o lean. The home made salads and veggies were delicious. The place is full and the food turns over quickly. All inclusive with tea for $ 10. Service was outstandingly friendly. This will be in our plans when we travel that way.

Great food and it’s just around the corner from Nicholson! Awesome seafood and such a great selection that IF something is weak on the bar, there is always something else great waiting to be sampled. I’ve been vising the Redd House for over six years now and I have NEVER been disappointed.

Who would have thought you could find a great seafood restaurant and buffet in the middle of the woods? This place blew me away with awesomeness. The all you can eat seafood buffet spans from crab legs, fried oysters, catfish, craw fish, chowder, shrimp in various styles, and more and more! Redd House has the best hushpuppies that I have ever had. And if the bar doesn’t have enough or your just not that into seafood, they do have a full menu with steaks, ribs, ect. The service is also excellent with a extremely friendly and helpful staff really driving home that down home feel to it all.
