Our focus is on high grade, highly figured domestic hardwoods. We carry figured Western Big leaf maple, Western Claro walnut, myrtlewood, and curly Eastern cherry. All are exceptional tone woods used for instruments but are often used to add flavor and spice to custom built furniture.

History

Established in 1976.

Northwest Timber, a hardwood company is nestled in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

Owner Lewis Judy has been working with woods, on this very site, for over 35 years. In the 70’s Lewis, and his designer wife Toni, began building custom furniture. This furniture making period lasted for 20 years. During that time, Lewis began to harvest local walnut trees for use in their work. He also sold to the local woodworking community. In 1992, Lewis decided that selling wood was more enjoyable and easier on his body than woodworking so he and Toni sold his tools, closed their gallery and renamed the business.

Because of his woodworking connections he was able to acquire sources for myrtlewood, Oregon black walnut, figured Western maple, and Port Orford white cedar. At that time, Lewis made the decision to focus on a graded figured lumber product, which seemed to fill a need in the market. His business began to grow and by1995 he had launched a basic web site.
