Sued for a Unilocal review by this store who also has a history of unpaid taxes, tax liens, and now felony theft charges. My case was just dismissed after a long 10 months and continuance after continuance. A recap of the last 10 months: The owner of this store filed papers with the Missouri Courts early February for my original review but they were unable to serve me the summons on several occasions. I got an attorney anyway and found out it it was not about the review per se, rather about my reference to sales tax. The summons said I claimed the store collected sales tax on purpose in a grand attempt to defraud the government(of about $ 10). Damages were unspecified but were to be less than $ 25,000. Sound stupid to you also? If you read my review, I was in no way suggesting they did it on purpose. In retrospect, I wish I was just that smart because apparently there is a history of doing just that… collecting taxes and not paying them to the government. The history of unpaid taxes is real and goes back years. As of today, there is over $ 50,000+ in tax liens against the store, a history of petty lawsuits, and let’s not forget the grand jury indictment of the store owner for felony theft stemming from a 2011 case and undercover bust of the store. The store owner allegedly stole merchandise from another store and that drove them out of business. Yep — this is the person who sued me and tattled on me to my mother in law in an attempt to get me to drop the review. The case is blowing up in the news right now and you can find the latest details in Missouri Casenet by looking up the store name. You will also see my case was dismissed on 11÷17÷14.
