Saffee’s Ladies Apparel

Saffee’s is special. It’s old school — very old school. And I love this place! Think… town square, the old «dress shop,» «charge it to my account,» etc. The shop’s décor/​design and inventory presentation borders on being a mess, lol. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fairly organized, but it’s jammed with stuff, and there is something in every corner, shelf and hook. I guess if it were streamlined and renovated, it would lose some the vintage-​dress-​shop atmosphere I like so much. Fyi, pack a lunch to access the restroom – up the old staircase, step around where the bomb of new stock went off, and keep walking to the other side of the shop.
I will not cross their threshold without mentally letting go of $ 100+. Their buyers do a fabulous job of offering something for everyone (ages 15 – 95). If you lost everything you owned and needed to get to the ball tonight, this would be one-​stop shopping from head to toe. They have lingerie and purses/​shoes to jewelry and gowns. I get so many compliments on a necklace I bought for $ 18 (regular price) but I also splurged on an indie artist’s bracelet for my daughter-​in-​law. They carry standard designers but the brands that are much harder to find is the main reasons I shop here. Another reason: if there is some kind of inventory theme going on, it’s colorful and/​or embellished. I wish they stocked more of the Adore brand! They’re almost always sold out of Adore items. I was in Jeff City for a conference a few weeks ago, and I set aside 4 hours to shop here. Their other shop in Columbia is apparently smaller. I have already allowed for extra time during my next trip to KC to stop at one of them.

I have been shopping at Saffee’s my entire life, and I can tell you that there is no place I would rather shop in the entire world. My first job was actually there years ago, but they just keep improving. It is a 4^th generation family business, and I believe that is the secret to their success.
I live in Cali and do the Rodeo drive thing now and then, but I can honestly tell you you have never had service or quality like you will have at Saffee’s.
They carry some high end brands for great prices, and they love to help you put together entire outfits for special occasions. I love that I can literally walk in, and walk out completely dressed, from head to toe to fingertip, ready to go to any style event. And it is a relaxing experience, much like having a personal shopper in the most upscale couture boutiques.
I am so happy when I am there that my husband literally takes photos of me there just smiling, because I am having such a great time!

Walked in after seeing their window display. They have beautiful women’s clothes for downtown Jeff City, and all women in the store were very friendly and helpful. I didn’t buy anything, just window shopping, but will be back for sure!
