We have been going to the Carriage House for at least thirteen years now. It’s the classic«place where everybody knows your name.» Dawn, the owner, and the servers are very welcoming, friendly, and genuinely interested in having a friendly exchange of conversational wit. As the quotation marks above indicate — I always think of Cheers as I am driving the 20 miles to get there; and I’m never disappointed.

Great value and customer service. I got the one egg combo which comes with an egg, prepared as requested. I chose scrambled and it was light, fluffy, and fresh. I chose bacon over sausage. The only thing wrong with this bacon was that it was a bit too thick than I would like. I like my bacon very thin and crispy… not thick and crunchy. Instead of bread, I asked if I can get fruit substituted. The waitress was very accommodating. Lastly, potatoes. I couldn’t ask it to be any more softer. It was perfect! It was lightly stir fried so there was an element of crispy on the outside. It was also seasoned enough to not have those flavors distract from the natural flavor of the potato! All this for $ 6! The $ 9 combo comes with two eggs. It looked like there was slightly more potatoes. I also tried the sausage link(can choose this our sausage patty), and it did not disappoint. It is hard to mess up sausage. I preferred this over the bacon. Even though I’m sensitive to sweet things, I thought the sweet tea was just perfect in sweetness. It was not too sweet at all.

Ok lunch, we were hungry. They were out of all burger and beef but we did get there late and they closed at 2. I wanted a salad but iceberg really? That water in a bowl… expected higher end greens for the price.

During a visit to the area, we decided to drive into beautiful downtown Jasper. It really is a wonderful town center reminiscent of something you saw in Groundhog Day. At least it was for a couple big city people like us. We saw the Carriage House and decided to drop in for a cup of coffee. We were met by the owner who knew everybody inside and made us feel like she knew us too. I had probably one of the best cappuccinos ever and my girlfriend and I shared a piece of apple cake. It was like a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, but it had huge chunks of moist apple. For anyone that might be staying in a cabin somewhere nearby, I recommend taking a stroll through Jasper’s beautiful town center and stopping by the Carriage House for some great coffee and food.

Very pleasant lunch. I enjoyed a grilled, homemade pimento cheese sandwich on sourdough while my husband had the grilled meatloaf sandwich. Both were good and the service was quick and proficient. The décor was interesting and cozy — loved the antique rolling pins. We really wanted to sample a dessert but were too stuffed!

Driving through Jasper and happened upon it. Owner was nice and involved. Food was great. Atmosphere was even better. Would definitely recommend… wish we had a place like this near home. Teen boys had a full breakfast that didn’t break the bank!

From Quiche to Mom’s meatloaf had variety of selections for the entire family. Today is vegetable quiche but I love their burgers and meatloaf. Set in a historic building in downtown jasper ga. It has a quaint feel and friendly local folks. The wait staff is very good and friendly. Recommend for a great breakfast or lunch.

I’m giving this place 5 stars because they have the best oatmeal in the world. When I sleep in on Saturday morning and can’t make it there in time for breakfast I am totally bummed out for a couple of hours. I do really like oatmeal, so if you don’t then I’m not confident it’s going to change your life… but if you do, then it may. I’m a really big fan of the oatmeal they serve on Royal Caribbean cruises, and this is comparable. So, $ 400 for a cruise or $ 4 from Carriage House oatmeal… I recommend both. :) They also have good flavored coffee.

Old fashioned, small town restaurant with good food and great, friendly service. Good place for lunch or breakfast. Had the Cobb salad and chocolate fudge pie. Cobb salad had nice chunks of avocado and bacon on it, and pie was homemade and great. Worth the stop for the homemade desserts alone if you are in the area.
