Whiskey Ranch Bar and Grill

We stopped here while in town on family business, using Unilocal to find something local and new to us. I had the smoked turkey wrap and my husband had the Louisiana BBQ sandwich. We both agreed that our food was outstanding. You could taste the separate flavors (smoked turkey, avocado, sauce), but they blended together perfectly. The fries were very crispy and hot. Prices were reasonable, and the menu was extensive. We would certainly go back and try new items!

Yes it’s a bar. But they don’t serve the typical bar food. I had a salmon salad & it was fantastic! Full of lime flavor, avocado, tasty highly seasoned salmon cooked perfectly.
I wanted to indulge in a beer (or three) but it was a business lunch. So. No alcohol this time.
Check them out if you are in the area!!!

We stopped here on the immediate recommendation of the fine ladies of the Janesville Visitors Center. Delicious BBQ brisket salad!

Food is great. The waitress not so much she seemed rushed never ask how are food was she brought one of use a refill but not the other person.

Great food and better service. The walleye is some of the best I have had, large portion also.

Good food, great drinks, awesome service! We loved our server Krista. She was fun & checked on our table just as often as we needed her to.

3 stars… Waffle fries are good, but the loaded fries have way too much cheese, could only eat half. Also, my cousin got the mushroom burger and it definitely was from the can. Burger itself was good. Service was good though… May come again.

While hanging in Janesville I realized that I never had lunch so I jumped on Unilocal and whiskey ranch and grill showed potential. This place was chosen totally out of the blue.
The place is bigger than it looks with a big bar on one side and plenty of table seating on the other side. There is a country bar décor with guitars and signs etc on the walls.
The place was fairly crowded but my service was solid with my menu and my drink served right away. Free peanuts in a tin pale was a nice touch on all the tables. There is about 12 beers on tap so I asked for something dark and I was given some scotch ale that’s not on the menu.
I ordered a bacon cheeseburger rare and it was at my table like with in three sips of my beer and it was bigger than I expected but looked good. My side was the house beans which I didn’t care for because it was too sweet for me and had like a burned BBQ flavor. The burger is 10 ounces of fresh beef which I don’t think is usual because 8oz is usually the big one. The burger smelled char grilled when it hit the table and wow did it have a great char grilled flavor. The burger was cooked perfect rare and juicy.
Overall for not knowing anything about the place that have really good burgers and a nice place to grab a beer.

Great bar. Great food. Great Whiskey. What more can you ask for. Always a good time when I go. Krista is the best bartender ever! Makes it better to visit.

Great bands and an amazing selection of whiskey bourbon, scotch, and Irish whiskey. Krista is an awesome waitress and keeps the night entertaining. Can’t wait for the band to start!

VERY good food! We saw this place advertised on tv and decided to check it out for lunch. The waitress was so friendly and gave us great service. Food was delicious and served up fast. I had the Carolina Brisket sandwich and it was amazing. The tangy mustard sauce on it was off the charts! Good, crispy fries too. Had lots of interesting menu items like fried green tomatoes, loaded fries, etc. We will definitely be back!

Awful bartender. Went for my cousins birthday. She was sweet at first then got awfully rude when we didnt tip her, knowing we were staying and buying more drinks to tip her before we all left (we had a party of 6, plus 4 out 6 of us had already tipped in advice). She made us feel very uncomfortable. then told us we didnt have to go back after we actually tipped her. Trust me we won’t be honey… dont ask for tips.

I went here for the first time last Saturday with a group of friends. We are all in our early 20’s, and have heard that this place has a «younger crowd» which was the main reason we decided to try it. Well, it certainly does not have a younger crowd. Everyone in that bar was at least 30, and most of the people were obviously in their 40’s. We felt very out of place. We were able to get seated quickly, and that was nice, but upon entering we decided pretty quickly that we would leave after our first drinks, and appetizers.
The place was way too loud. I know it’s a bar, but the live band was not good, and they were so loud that we had to literally yell at each other to even have a conversation. Plus the libe band sounded terrible, and clearly their sound equipment was not working correctly.
We got some of the loaded fries to share. They were good, but nothing special and the ingredients did not taste homemade. We also got mozzarella sticks, and they honestly looked and tasted like the kind you could buy at the frozen food section of the grocery store. We all ordered some of their various whiskey drinks and they were just okay as well. Also, if you come here, everyone better like whiskey because that’s all they sell besides beer.
If you are under 30 I really do not recommend coming here. And if you want an atmosphere where you can actually socialize with the people you came with I definitely don’t recommend it.

Good vibe, but had dinner and the «signature brisket» was not edible. Need to seriously re evaluate the smoking situation. I NEVER leave bad reviews and felt it was warranted. Love the group running this place and they’ve always done a great job but this was a big disappointment. Hopefully they get it right. Drinks were good though.

I had heard good things about The Whiskey Ranch’s food, so I fully expected to enjoy my meal when I finally went there for dinner on Tuesday. The interior is pleasant though not scrupulously clean. The wait staff was attentive. Though short, the menu looked a little ambitious.
We ordered three different meals and our food arrived in HUGE, bland portions. I had ordered the pulled pork but all I could taste was the incredibly sweet, bottled Jack Daniels sauce.
I think I accepted the doggie box in hopes that leftovers would taste better later. At home the box popped open on the counter and flipped itself onto my kitchen floor. I wasn’t disappointed and my cat wasn’t interested.
One very bright note: I had ordered a black and tan to try their Chocolate Lab Porter; when it arrived it looked a little strange, which I mentioned to the waitress. A very gracious gentleman from the bar area came over, brought me a small glass of the Chocolate Lab to sample, then re-​mixed the black and tan after explaining about the relative densities and why he would prefer to use Guinness. .. Hard not to like a good guy who speaks Science!
I will probably give the Walworth location a try, but am unlikely to revisit Janesville.

Whiskey Ranch is a great place to stop in and have a drink, be social, get a bite to eat, hang out. The owners are restaurant legends in the area and have done it again, this time turning a place that was sort of skeezy into one thats got great food and service.
The atmosphere is very much country, there’s a real down-​home feel here. Barbecue is a featured item and very tasty. Drinks are reasonable and adequately made.
I will make it a point to come back to visit when I’m in the area.

I went here to celebrate a friends birthday the other night and had a great time. The drinks come in these adorable boot glasses (which you can buy, just ask!) and they are reasonably priced. The food was awesome and comes rather quickly after ordering. I had an avocado chicken sandwich with chipotle and I finished the whole thing.
The bathrooms are tiny. Wait, let me clarify, the bathrooms are big, the stalls are tiny. You barely have enough room to close the door without having the maneuver your way around the toilet.
This was the second time I’ve been here and like it both times. I would recommend it for a night out or an early dinner. Don’t go too late for food since you might not be able to get a table.

What a great place. first of all a fun atmosphere with country music and sports on big screens. Nice selection of draft beer and whiskey. Food was very good at reasonable prices. We recommend the brisket. Service was attentive and very friendly.

My family and I came here for lunch on a Friday around 1 pm. I called to see if they took reservations which they do just not on Fridays or Saturdays.
It was our first time at this restaurant. First impression was that I liked how it looked. They have it set up and decorated very nicely. There are plenty large flat screen TVs throughout the restaurant. Overall it looked like a cool place to hang out.
We were seated near the bar area at a table. Our server was very pleasant and checked in on us frequently.
The food was very good. I had the Louisiana Pulled Pork Sandwich with french fries and my husband had the Taco Burger. Both of which I thought were very good.
The only negative point about our visit was that it was too loud to comfortably carry on a conversation without having to talker louder than usual. The Badger basketball team had been playing so maybe that’s why the volume was up so loud. But even after the badger game the volume was never turned down. Too loud for a lunch visit for me.
