JFK Airport Terminal 7

Nice, small terminal. Quick walk to gate from lounge, which is a plus. Going through Cathay business class security is super fast and convenient.
For regular security (BA), there is no pre-​check and the security process leaves a bit to be desired. Benefit is small terminal, but when there are breakdowns in security process (I.e. High traffic time), a few delays due to first time flyers, wheelchair/​opt-​outs/​strollers/​etc. Get really backed up and not efficient at all.

So we just got back from Japan and I’m missing everything already. Especially how clean the bathrooms are. Even the busiest train station (shinjuku) had a cleaner bathroom than this. So sad :(

There’s nothing to do here and the seats are really hard.
Try not to come too early.

This review is for terminal 7 Qantas… just like the pecks review said… was really friendly, knowledgable and was able to quiet our nerves about the flight being delayed. We took the time to check in online and get our seat numbers and passes printed. Why? Apparently, just to waste our time because there was no bag drop off and we still had to stand in line with everyone else who needed tickets. Boo to qantas for having the option to check in online, but not following through.
The seating around gate 3 is very small and there are sections by the window that are quite hot and have limited air circulation. I wanted to get a seat by there to watch the planes, but it was just very stuffy and I ran away to the AC-​ed section. As far as the shopping, they have more high-​end stores than other terminals we’ve travelled through. They have auntie Anne’s pretzels!!! Love those. A little British pub is also situated there… a really cool touch and looks very authentic! That’s the extra star. Soon to see how the boarding process will be…

The staff at qantas and overall, are friendly and helpful. There is no charging station at gates 3 – 4 and not enough seating. This was actually quite horrible considering these days you need your phone for everything. In addition, it is quite abysmal looking. Definitely needs an overhaul despite having a bar lounge for drinks.

Fail. Nowhere near enough seats in the terminal for all the people who are passing through.
Food options are also abysmal.
Infrastructure is probably 20 years behind the times.

I don’t remember much of my time in Terminal 7– I was too busy staring at my Iberia Airlines ticket to Spain for my first time in Europe. Seating was comfortable for an airport and we were aple to get fruit and chips for the plane. Did I mention I was taking a plane to Europe? Who can complain.

I quite like this as airport terminals go! In fact, although it doesn’t have anywhere near the shops or restaurants that Terminal 5 in Heathrow has, I appreciate the fact that it takes 3 minutes to get from the BA lounge to the gate. No sodding trains to catch here that go wrong and make you run for your plane (oh yes, bitter experience talking there!).
There is a newsagents, a small duty free shop selling fragrances, make up, alcohol and cigarettes. There is a Brookstone so that you can buy the headphones you forgot to bring and inexplicably, a Tumi luggage shop that sells full size cases, even though at that point you can only take hand luggage on with you.
There is also an Xpress massage place that I have wiled away many hours being pampered in!
It’s big enough to have the stuff it needs, yet small enough not to induce heart attacks from running to the gate.

The MCdonald’s in this terminal had no manager. The employes were taking their sweet time and didn’t even address the mounting crowd. It was only 5 am but nothing was open except a news stand that sold sandwiches and the Mc Donald’s which people waited a half hour with out even being addressed.
In most major airports they have realized that its 2013 and that people need some where to charge their phones after a weary day of traveling. Nope. Not Terminal 7.
There is only one wall out let. I got lucky and spotted it. A million others came looking for a place to change their devices but my device and someone elses had first dibs.
When I’, in LAX or Charlotte I have free wi-​fi. Nope not at JFK. They’re old school and they just can’t bother to upgrade stuff just to convenience the travelers.
I’m a constant traveler. I’ve been to a lot of airports. The worst airports in the nation are LaGuardia, John F Kennedy and then Newark. In that order. After that every single airport in the country is a HUGE step up.
These three airports also have MUCH MUCH MUCH longer TSA lines than ANYWHERE else. Anything associated with JFK airport amounts to a miserable experience.

The «self service’ check in is anything but self service for people checking in bags. Its complete chaos, and people frequently cut each other off as the overworked attendants assist the self service customers with baggage stickers & the general mayhem resulting from their self service methodology.

I was just dropping someone off. There was no line to park and let people out.

Terrible terminal to arrive at from a foreign country. I was picking up a friend who came in from Iceland. Her flight arrived at 7:30pm, and she did not come out the immigration doors until 11:30pm. She said that they had multiple officers for citizens, but only two lines for foreigners. Multiple flights landed at about the same time that night. You’d think immigration officers would have enough brains to open up more lines. Apparently not though. They’d rather make people wait in line for 4 hours, after having flown in from a foreign country.

This terminal isn’t as bad as some of the others I have been in at JFK. The staff was very friendly and we moved through security fairly easily. There’s a food court, places to buy duty free products, get a massage, a Brookstone, and souvenir shops. The staff actually seem to care about what they’re doing more so than at some other terminals where the staff is lots of times speaking impolitely or act like they don’t give a damn.

SO not a fan of JFK, or this terminal. This was my first trip in and out of JFK and the security line was a disaster. I get that this an international airport but the line was a mess, people cutting (which I realize isn’t the terminal’s fault) — the line attendants were rude, and line was slow.

generally speaking, i don’t have any issues with this terminal. the main occupant is united airlines, so if i’m flying to dc, sf, la or anywhere across the atlantic, i’ll be flying out of this terminal. there are several shops to keep me entertained and a good number of restaurants and bars to grab some food. a little smaller than the other terminals, and easier to navigate, in my opinion.

All in all, a nice terminal with friendly people working here. Nice selection of shops and food stands and the TSA people weren’t too obnoxious.
It’s an airport so don’t get too excited or have too high of expectations and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what a nice terminal Terminal 7 really is.

Terminal 7 at JFK Airport is not a prime destination for domestic travelers, but if you’re headed to Dulles it’s a necessary access point. Body scanners are in place here and security goes smoothly for the most part. The only slowdown occurs when distracted TSA employees chatting together miss nudging along slowed bins of scanned items.
The terminal shopping is definitely geared toward international tourists. Lots of upscale name brands glitter from beautiful duty free shops. The eateries (like McDonald’s, a gelato counter, and a pretzel stand) were just adequate.
The United seating in the terminal was a miserable, shabby, cramped space. Ceiling speakers relentlessly broadcast a television interview show few passengers were in a position to watch. The ladies restroom was partially blocked off due to plumbing problems, and even more weird: Every passenger was privy to «private» cell phone conversations other passengers were having because of the confined space. It was actually embarrassing! Boarding the regional jets you have to step outside onto the tarmac. The trip itself went off without a hitch.

Home of the illustrious Cathay Pacific Airways. If you’ve never flown Cathay Pacific, then know this, they’ve consistently ranked in the top 5 in all major categories of hospitality, service, and comfort of every major organization that measures value for all airlines.
Terminal 7 is also home to United Airlines. If you’ve ever flown United, then you know that they are very lax with who they hire as flight attendants. Professionalism is not a requirement, but breathing is. Of all the flights I’ve had with United into or out of Terminal 7, I’ve only had one positive experience.
The services offered at Terminal 7 are geared toward international flyers. You’ll find an Armani store, and a large Duty Free store. What’s weird is that there’s also a McDonald’s. But not to worry, there’s also a Wolfgang Puck Gourmet Express up and running.

We had a connecting flight to PR here.
It was way too crowded, there wasn’t even anywhere for us to sit and wait at our gate. I suggest if you have a flight leaving from here you arrive very early. Food selection around was o-​k. I didn’t see too many options.

Having spend 20+ hours in this Terminal, waiting standby, I think I was able to get a pretty good grasp of it.
They have some nice shops and an OK selection of food stops, but nothing that tasted that great. It is quite large with plenty of seating that looks like it was pulled from the 60’s. The seats were only comfortable for a little bit though, and after the first 5 or so hours it just wasn’t working out for me.
I did LOVE the fact that they had the Samsung charging stations though. That came in EXTREMELY handy, you have no idea. Other then that, it isn’t anything great … other Terminals are better, nicer, newer, etc.
But I do have to say that there is this one staff member at this Terminal, who asked us to leave the Terminal after the last flight got in, who was very funny. He asked us to leave around 4am, but told us where we could stay till the Terminal reopened at 6am. It was much needed kindness and humor after being at the airport for 14+ hours at that point already.
Yep, I know this Terminal like the back of my hand. lol … how pathetic.

This Terminal appears remodeled for a modern look to fit the demands of the industry. There are very limited Samsung Charging Stations for mobile phones; iPad; iPod; laptop among other tech gadgets on the go which is a great benefit to serve travelers.
