Happy to be back. Food still delicious and staff still fantastic. This has proven to be our Go to Spot when traveling on Jet Blue.

It was pricey, and it was slow. Came here with a bunch of friends before our flight departure; and have been kept waiting for a longggggg time. Apparently the sangria was way too sweet that I could barely finish…

My annual pilgrimage to the easy coast always include a breakfast here. Better than usual this time. Enjoyed the French toast and how can you need up eggs, really?

I always dread having to pick a place to have dinner in airports before a flight since most food in terminals is overpriced and mediocre, but once again the selection at JFK Terminal 5 comes through with some pleasant surprises. I have tried a few other restaurants in this terminal but never 5ive Steak so I thought I’d give it a shot. I stopped in before my flight on a recent Friday evening and found a not-too-crowded restaurant with reasonably fast, approachable service and a pretty typical offering of steakhouse fare and the like. I ordered a burger with au poivre sauce on the side, which came with fries, and a glass of red wine to finish the meal. Overall, the burger was good — I ordered it medium-rare and it was served as such though I found the patty a little on the cool side. The only miss was the au poivre sauce which was this weirdly tepid, unctuous and not-too-flavorful affair(not what I expected). The restaurant offers a more expensive menu than most in the terminal with some high priced cuts of meat, but I’d steer clear since they can’t give you real knives here(!). Imagine ordering a $ 45 porterhouse and then being handed a plastic knife — nope! That said, 5ive Steak is a fine option in JFK’s wonderful T5 and a sure bet for a very passable burger and beverage before that flight.

As cliché as it sounds, one must normalize expectations when dining in a place like JFK. With that said, I’ve been hitting this«steak joint» up many times during business travel because it’s consistent enough, never that crowded(for a number of reasons), and I think their steaks receive a passing grade. Think about a thawed USDA Choice cut from your local chain grocery store cooked by someone who has a clue. Eating a decent slab-o-beef with a plastic knife takes a little getting used to, but these are all #firstworldproblems. And yes, yes, not the best value at over $ 100 a head for a basic NY Strip, drinks, and appetizers — but again, you have to remember where this is, your other options, and how often you need to foot the bill.

In order to dine at 5ive steak, you must be elite, you must be the crem de la crem; OR, you just have to fly Jet Blue @ JFK. This chiq urban steakhouse has an inspiring menu… until you see the prices. Good spot though, with interesting choices for quality burgers and great truffled fries when in the mood for something a step or two above«airport food.» I doubt I’d ever order a steak, seeing as how you’d have to eat with a plastic knife and I’m sure a burger is the best bet. Friendly service and a full bar. Happy Flying

We only had an hour to get to the next leg of our trip and we informed our server that we needed to be out of there fast. My husband and I both ordered medium rare filet mignon and guess what? From placing our order to the end of our meal, we were out of there in 25 minutes!!! Our steaks were perfect. We were skeptical about the plastic knives, but it didn’t even matter because the steaks were tender. Ask for the check when your food arrives and you’re out of there in no time. Their name lived up to their food and service. 5 star steaks in 5 minutes!

It’s fine. Maybe slightly above average for airport dining. I liked my French fries. My diet coke was flat. My burger was okay. I only ate half but it wasn’t bad. My server was very sweet and seemed to care about doing her job well which was nice considering the bad reviews related to service on here. I was probably here for 20 minutes overall but they smartly warn people before seating that they should account 30 minutes for the meal(which I think is obvious but some people seemed baffled by this).

Not bad for an airport! The service was very nice and accommodating, also very fast which I appreciate in an airport. The server immediately brought me water and got me a drink and filled it twice without me asking. The salad I ordered was surprisingly good. I got the strawberry and chicken salad. The chicken was obviously fresh and hot-which kind of killed the cold salad thing, but overall not too bad. I would go back and be more daring and order something better!

We discovered this place sometime ago and love it. The utensils, cups, and plates are spotless. Team members are warm and attentive. The food is fantastic. Many times I forget I am at an airport terminal. Special thanks to Angie for great service. My son loved the small bottle of ketchup. We often reflect on our trips after we get back but he is already speaking about the ketchup and his new friend Angie.

It’s not gourmet. It’s better than food in a lot of other airports. The chili had all the imagination and artistry of a Denny’s, while the carpaccio was drowned in a mustard sauce. Someone call Law & Order CCU(Culinary Crimes Unit). There are better places in this terminal

3+ hour layover at JetBlue terminal, wanted to sit and enjoy dinner versus battling through the lines at the food court and limited seating. I had the steak sandwich(asked for med rare, came out med well, but still tasty with the horseradish sauce on a baguette), my wife had the wagyu beef & blue cheese sliders(asked for med well, came out barely rare, but again still very tasty), my daughter had the California sushi roll(awful). Service was fairly prompt, both hostess and server were friendly and attentive. Fairly expensive meal, but would visit again.

I was so hoping that I would be impressed enough to give a five star review — especially because of the cost, but sadly I can only give three stars. The cost and service here were three star at best — should have been so much better. The place was EMPTY and yet everything took forever and my server had to have been the worst. Would I go back — perhaps if I forgot about the service and the price — otherwise I’d check out another place first!

Unfortunately not worth the money. Too long of a wait for food or service. The employees can really care less and are not afraid to show it. What a shame… Go buy a slice of pizza from Sabarro, some cupcakes from Baked by Melissa and actually enjoy your meal.

This isn’t typical airport food in the gorgeous Terminal 5. Its a good option when waiting for your Jet Blue flight. I loved the interesting décor of the place. I was a little disappointed in the burger. It was good, but a little dry. They do have a nice variety of cheese to chose from for your burger and if you are looking for a steak, this is the place to go. Service was really good. I appreciated the great servers!

Almost $ 20 for an apetizer where the only edible part was the cheese and the rest seemed like a culinary student’s experimental period. Tired travelers will probably not enjoy the low backed barstools which are also placed in two related restaurants in the terminal. Jet Blue has made travel a lot comfier, but what you’re saving on your flight, you’re basically making up in the cost of your meal. Pack trail mix and hang in there until you’re airborne.

I ordered a burger medium rare– more on the rare side, and it came out medium– well done. I prefer blood on almost everything, therefore I’m giving it a decent rating rather than what they deserve, which is four stars– as the service was impeccable and I wasn’t even able to detect my server serving me wine when I turned around to grab my wallet from my jacket. It was amazing how quiet he was. Either way, Get the burger. Ask for it rare. Bet.

I had the Blue cheese burger with blue potato chips. It was great. Very juicy, extra large portion and great presentation. The fries were just ok. Tasted like frozen food. I thought the price, for being an airport in NY, wasn’t too steep. Would recommend the burgers for anyone passing by.

Alright for airport food and drinks during a three-hour layover. Pricey, but to be expected. We both had a burger and fries. Burger was ok quality — a little gristly and overcooked, but I liked the smoked Gouda and chipotle mayo on mine. The fries were of the frozen variety and tasted a little freezer burnt. Service was quick, but they weren’t too busy. There are better options in this terminal.

Decent place, but very pricey.(I know… airport…) We had crab and corn chowder(surprisingly good), sliders(ok.some were soggy), crabcakes(not bad) and 2 white sangrias. The bill with tax and tip was almost $ 100. The service was good and the seating was spacious, but I would try something else(4 other restaurants) before running back to this place.

A perfectly adequate middle-of-the-road beef barn that really dabbles more in the apps and burger space than actual cuts of steak. Sure, you’d find them on the menu, but do even the layover elite choose to fine dine beside an interactive model of a jet engine, sipping poorly made Manhattans whilst hacking their filets with transparent flatware? Methinks not. She ordered a perfectly adequate bacon cheeseburger, and I, the sloppy, umami-rich ribeye sandwich(promised cooked to order, slice and stacked; served in one hunk) which oozed flavor, along with all of its innards. The ciabatta didn’t stand a cohesive chance. The much lauded truffle fries proved to be their regular ol’ fries with a bath of truffled oil and a heavy hand of parmesan. How so? She ordered them to side her burger, and when regular fries came, the server apologized, disappeard for 15 seconds, and returned with an identical plate… boasting a heap of truffle fries, where their previous iteration sat unmoved. Normally, I wouldn’t mind, but the actually truffle flavor was muted, and all we got was extra salt from the cheese, and pungency from the chives. Cool. I’m still baffled how two sandwiches, one cocktail and two glasses of wines eclipsed the $ 100 mark, but they did. Maybe it’s the generous grape juice pours(which they cleverly call«a glass and a half») or maybe it’s the expected JFK tax, but to overcharge on a mediocre meal because, hey Joe Traveler, you kind of have to, just rubs grated Parm in the plastic knife wound. 2.5 stars.
