Sal’s is unbeatable. I’ve been getting my haircut there ever since moving to JP. My son had his first haircut there and is as big a fan as myself. They know men’s hair and I don’t have to do a lot of explaining to get the cut I want. The cut is fast but not rushed. I try to avoid the line on Saturday but if I’m there right when they open I can usually be out in 30 minutes. I can recommend Sal’s without hesitation.

Been getting my hair cut here for 20 years. Great cut, friendly service, nice price. Milad is the master barber in this joint, and you’ll probably have to wait extra long to get him, but all the other guys do good work too. Cash only, and there will be a wait on Saturday morning.

I needed a hair cut and looking in Unilocal Sal’s was one of the closest and Werth best reference. So i went and it’s an old barbershop with great guys thar cut your hair as you want. Also i didn’t have to wait so much and the price is good. They have earned a new client

This was my barbershop for 2 years. Good cuts. Good price. First come first serve. Don’t skip the line. Efficient and fast. Limited small talk. Only one TV playing the back ground at low volume. These guys are awesome!

Least attentive barber I’ve ever been to. I asked him to take about an inch off because I’m heading out of the country for a month and I wanted it a bit shorter than normal. He seemed like he was in a huge rush the whole time… in 5 minutes, he cut about an inch and a half. I was a little concerned that it was a bit too short, but what are you gonna do? He put some gel in my hair and as I was coming to terms with my already short cut, he just chopped off the last inch without even saying anything. Now I have no hair.

Got a great summer cut here, and didn’t have to wait. Friendly, and figured out what I wanted. I would go back if I lived here.

Had over a dozen great cuts here(the guys are very enjoyable too) until one day a new barber took off what I thought was *way* too much. Back home I was told that it looked really good and I should go back to that guy next time. Instead I bought my own electric razor at CVS and have been producing similar results ever since. Still, 5 stars!

WOW I JUSTFELLHEADOVERHEELSFORMYNEWBARBER. Seriously, I just got the best haircut of my life. Plain and simple, these guys know how to cut hair. I came in looking for a change of style and briefly described what I was thinking– very short on the sides, 2 – 3 inches on the top and brushed backwards. Slightly messy. The barber immediately understood and in about 12 minutes served me up a look that I absolutely loved. Exactly what I had in mind. Fit my hair type and face perfectly. I’m a student so at this point my future residency in JP is unknown — but Sal’s Barbershop may just keep me here forever.

Looking for a hip barber to send my husband too… We spend half our year in Provincetown, and always get a hip, tight cut .no problem.
Read reviews because we still have not found a good cut in the $ 20. to 25 dollar world Tried Sal’s.sorry basic chop shop. came back with a bald, buzz… No thought at all into the cut. Help…

I used to go to salons to get my hair cut, but Sal’s is so much better for those of us who sport a classic, short hairstyle. They listen to what you want and always give precise, consistent results. You’re only going to spend about 20 minutes in the chair, and they’re happy to clean up the back of your hair with a straight razor to give it that nice, clean feel. The barbers are always friendly, and the cost is very reasonable. Also in contrast to salons, no one’s going to try to sell you fancy hair gunk at the end of the cut. Highest recommendations. Oh, and no appointment is required, but be prepared to wait 15 minutes or so during the busy parts of the day.

The man friend gets his hair cut here and loves it. I can vouch for the fact he always looks very handsome when he’s all done. Nice local barbershop. They trim eyebrows, beards, the whole deal for $ 16

Skilled haircut in a very cool old-school barber shop. Got the recommendation from a well-groomed gentleman in an elevator in Jamaica Plain.

Ever been away from a place for four years, and walk back in to be recognized right off the bat? Well, that’s the kind of service you get here. Walking in, I saw the barber I used for years here in JP. He recognized me, and it was like I had not left. A perfect haircut. Making the drive from Watertown to see this maestro of the cut.

I’ve been coming here for about a year now. Nice guys with really interesting backgrounds, one guy even escaped from Iraq during Saddam time. Anyway, great haircut for $ 16. Plus, the warm shaving cream for the back of the neck shave at the end was awesome. I’ll definitely be back again and again.

Standard, run of the mill barber. Like noted here, your experience greatly shifts depending on who you get. I came in on a Saturday around noon getting a pretty simple shave — I showed him a photo of what I shooting for and he went work. He was a man with few words, which was unfortunate, as it was hard to make conversation, and we never even exchanged names. also there were a couple details of my hair that weren’t as in sync with the reference photo that I had hoped. The quality wasn’t bad, and for the price I paid completely worth it. I’ll be back, hopefully to a different barber next time.

No nonsense, no b.s. These guys really know what they’re doing and won’t rake you over the coals. $ 15 for a quick cut gets you a neck shave as well. Yeah, the place looks like shit and maybe you’ll never have a meaningful conversation with your barber, but what do you want in a 20 minute visit? Nope, not that kind of place… I used to pay anywhere between $ 25-$ 60 and while some deserved it, some definitely did not, but these guys are worth every penny.

My nape, the back… Snip my sideburns and add wax. I just summed up the experience. Yes, that right there. Dont bother calling ahead, its walk in only, you will only bother them and they will give you a SNIPPY attitude. When you get there, take notice of everyone already there, they will all go before you, dont attempt to CUT any of them. The wait time can be a little CHOPPY, best to go not on weekends or closer to opening time if youre in a hurry. The guys are all nice once you get in the seat, your relationship is a SPLIT, so lend them your EAR and the experience will be GELly. The smell was good. The place felt clean. Definitely going back for the next time.
