Their slave practices are shameful. You have people working their butts off yet they dont give any of the employees the tips that come in. I find it unjustful and morally incorrect. Maybe they should have a social audit conducted at this place im sure it will fail. For it being a «family» business you would think things will be all set. On the other hand, The only thing ive tasted that actually taste good is the arroz con leche(desert), pastelitos de pollo(ive tasted better) and that is it. The Quipes have little to no meat inside and the dough doesnt taste that good. the oatmeal drink is awesome though !

I though the whole overprice thing for the cake was due to the merengue frosting being requested for $ 50.00 on a 12 inch cake. And it was a let down being ive purchased 3 cakes in the past 3 months from them, I hoped for a better deal and i got a 10 inch birthday cake for $ 47.00 really? For a 10 inch? When down in lawrence ive been to old school dominican bakeries where the neutral frosting for every cake was merengue unless requested otherwise, and these shops price about 25 – 30 bucks for a 10′ inch 35 – 45 for a 12… It was a princess cake and they didnt have the toy set so i asked for just the picture to be printed on and they charged $ 47.00 for everything. The next day I was woken up from a call at 9:00 am asking how the cake was, it seemed little attention was given to the cake and when I saw it, it wasnt the same picture I hand picked. I was charged 20 bucks off my card and had a balance of 27.00. When i went to pick it up it wasnt ready at 4:30pm eventhough they called at 9:00am so I left the 27.00 bucks and saw the guy write it down but when my mom went to pick it up at 6:30pm they charged her the 27.00 again I don’t know how they had the mix up if it was already marked paid for on the note under my name. Come on Guys pick it up, Hope you improove your prices this is coming from a customer that would stop by all the time and pick up 6 birthday cakes per year, Dont think ill be paying Close to 50 bucks for a small cake anytime soon and goodbye empanadas too if you can’t consider a regular custy…

Busy family owned bakery with a café feel. It’s small but their array of Dominican delicacies makes up for roominess. Gondres’ tres leches cake is made with love!

In all reality, while the sandwich is unequivocally good, I don’t know that it is spectacular, when I step back and think about it. But my experience with the people in this bakery has been spectacular. They are so kind and willing to converse and give suggestions. These people seem so genuinely friendly that I really want the sandwich to be spectacular. And as a result, I pay more attention to it, and notice that the pulled pork has really impressive flavor. It does not seem particularly seasoned; there is no sauce on it(other than the sandwich condiments already described); and yet it is very flavorful and rich. Read my full review on my blog:

I found this place on Unilocal… I love this place! I’ve become addicted! The staff is super friendly and kind. They serve oatmeal to go… avena Delish!!! Amazing! There breakfast sandwiches are so good. Let’s not even mention their freshly squeezed oj juice! I get mine with no sugar, you don’t need it at all. It’s like the pick the perfect oranges to make it. Pricing is beyond affordable! This is clearly my morning pit stop

The guy who owns this place is the sweetest, most sincere person– I love going in there just to see him. I always get a little cup of hot coffee and an empanada(or rice pudding if I’m in the mood– soooo delicious!) Gondres bakery is definitely one of those places that I always feel happy to go into.

I adore this place. I used to love going to Washington Heights in NYC just to get a taste of some Dominican pastries and avena. Luckily, I pass by this bakery every weekday morning. I stop by often and get a cup of avena(oatmeal) and sip it while commuting to work. The arepa is tasty and so is the mangu, although I don’t eat that too often otherwise my pants would no longer fit me :) The owner is such a sweet guy too! Always makes my mornings a little better. They accept credit cards which is always a plus!

This place is amazing!!! They are very reliable and punctual with every order. There cakes are very good, I once was running out of time for my moms birthday party and I came across them the night before and they assured me that by the next day they would have a cake ready for me bright and early. As so they did and it was so cheep!

I go here maybe once a week or so for breakfast to take a break from my everyday cereal. The sandwiches are yummy, the muffins are SOFLUFFY and delicious, their choc chip cookies are crunchy and sweet, and their oatmeal, although a tad sweet is just what you need on a cold winter’s walk to the Jackson Square T stop. The staff are incredibly friendly and willing to suit whatever your needs. Go check this place out if you’re in the area!

Everyone is so very friendly!!! Love this place, pastelitos are delicious and corn pudding is my FAVORITE! I order pastelitos for job events here, always hot and ready when I pick it up at 8 in the morning. I never had the cake but I’m sure its as good. And if you go in the morning make sure to grab some freshly brewed Bustelo coffee.

This is definitely the place to go for birthday cakes, meat turnover or just some corn pudding. Everything I’ve bought from them has been delicious and I’m definitely a satisfied customer. Speaking of a satisfied customer, I’m on my way to pick up a cake for my sissie’s bday!!! =) Love them & they are all so FRIENDLY!!!

Favorite place for cheap and tasty sweets in JP. Bring cash, but they have an ATM if you forget. The bilingual staff are really friendly, and can explain anything you have questions about. I like to go here for milkshakes, especially. They only have three flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and papaya. I’ve only had the last two but I have never been disappointed. I’ve had each more times than I should admit publicly. For those with savory preferences, they do have meat and potato concoctions that fit the bill nicely. Also they have some fried empanadas that are tasty– ham and cheese is my favorite for lunch snacks. I’d you’re feeling flan or corn pudding, this is the only place in JP that I like. I’d love to hear of other places to try, too, but hey– this place does them very well. Sweet but not too sweet.
