I just want to bring something to your attention. I am a GM of a company and I appreciate good customer service. These days it’s very hard to hire and keep good people because there aren’t many good ones left. I work right next to a shop rite but because of the experience I have when going to your establishment in Jackson NJ I choose to go there. A young lady by the name of Chelsea always goes above and beyond. She is always so nice and helps me find what I need without any hesitation or annoyance in her voice. I want to commend you on such an excellent employee on your staff and I will continue to give you my business as long as you continue to have people like Chelsea working at your store.

My complaint is about Stop & Shops PeaPod Grocery delivery service. I’m not sure if the order comes from the Jackson NJ store or not but it is the closest location to my current address. The customer service department who was no help at all, is located in NC according to the phone number. I’ve been using peapod for several years now and have had no problem with the orders, product, website or the delivery people. What I do have a problem with is their billing practices. As most of us are aware when placing an internet order, the company sometimes put a hold charge on the CC or bank. Twice now I’ve had PeaPods hold go though as real charges. the first time was on my AMX card a few months ago. At that time PeaPod had no explanation for the 2 charges on one order. American Express listed the first charge as fraud, cancelled my card and sent me another. Ok, we’re all used to occasional fraud so I didn’t blame PeaPod at the time. Today I think different. For this order I used my debit card. I just got off the line with PeaPod customer service who claimed the first charge was just their usual hold and would not have actually been charged to my bank. My bank disagrees, just as AMX stated that both were charged to my account. This time I didn’t have enough to cover both charges in excess of a combined $ 300 when I only expected to be charged for my under $ 200 order. So now the bank has charged me a $ 35 overdraft fee. Both of these charges yesterday were evidently received by the bank as real and separate. PeaPod customer service just kept saying I wasn’t charged that first fee. Then why is my bank charging me for both plus an overdraft fee since I didn’t have enough to cover 2 charges? Now I have to go through the aggravation of listing it as fraud with the bank and attempt to recover the 1st charged fee plus the subsequent overdraft fee. I will never do business with PeaPod again.

While the prices here are sometimes not as good as Shoprite they are usually very competitive and occasionally even better. Stop & Shop has a very good specialty food section. Lots of gluten free foods that you cannot find at Shoprite. For those on a budget Stop & Shop has also carries a budget bargain brand«Guaranteed Value» which is by far the cheapest price you will find on many staples. they have breakfast cereal box for $ 1, box of pasta $ 1, 32oz can of Pasta Sauce $ 1. Can of vegetables $ 1, 2 liter bottle of cola $ 1. If you are going through a tough time then you need to check out this stuff. You could literally feed your family for close to nothing. Stop & Shop also has online ordering and delivery using their peapod service. Delivery fee is very affordable $ 6.75

I usually avoid this supermarket. It’s dark and kind of dingy. Prices are decent. Selection is too. Would much rather go to Shop Rite in Jackson over this any day.
