Shiny Star Buffet

Pretty good buffet– lots of choices– seafood, veggie, dimsum even dessert. Affordable too!

We were there at 8pm since the buffet line at Jackson Rancheria was crazy and the smoke smell was all over the place– it will kill us!
You should check this out if ever you go to Jackson!

So I want to give them more stars but I just can’t. The food was old and obviously sitting out for a long while. The flavor wasn’t too bad, but honestly I was afraid to try a lot of it because I had no idea of when it had last been changed but I could tell it wasn’t recent.
I’m giving it three stars because while the food wasn’t the greatest the service was. The lovely lady that took care of us was very nice and attentive.
Maybe they just had a bad night?

Found this nice little gem when we were trying to eat at the Lobster buffet in Jackson Rancheria. The wait for lobster was 4 hours which would’ve put us close to 10pm. Since we were already starved but still in need of satisfying our shell fish urge we Unilocaled other buffet places close by that at least offered crab legs. Surprisingly Shiny Star came up and it was only 10 minutes away from the casino. We didn’t want to drive back to Sacramento so we decided to give them a try. As soon as we walked in the lady who greeted was very friendly and she stayed attentive to us throughout our entire stay. As for the food, the choices were limited compared to to other asian buffets I’ve been to before but we also had the option of ordering from their main menu. The crab legs ended up being small and although my husband and his cousin seemed to enjoy them, I opted not to have any because they were too much work for the amount of meat I actually got out of it. But the other food was really good and everything I chose was delicious. I especially liked that the trays weren’t completely filled so they made fresh batches more frequently. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would come back again if we happen to be in the area.

Just came here to eat with my two kids before I had to take my oldest to a school dance and as soon as I walked in I was greeted with a friendly smile! They were very attentive and the food was delicious not too much was in each tray which was fine with me because that means it’s freshly made instead of wasting on big amounts and no one eating it.

We’ve ordered take out several times and were very pleased. Most recently we order the lemon chicken, cashew nut chicken and vegetable chow mein. Everything is fresh and delicious, not heavy and oily like some Chinese take out I’ve had. Good prices, too. I’ll have to do their buffet some time.

Used to go to Golden Wok as it was the semi-​best in town… then SHINY STAR came to town. It is tasty, veggies crisp and by far best in town. Friendly service and they deliver!!!

Friendly staff. Very welcoming and always comes by the table asking if we need anything. Food is fresh and good. Seems like a small family owned business. They have a buffet and a menu order. Buffet for lunch is $ 8.50 and dinner $ 11.50, the cheapest price from other places I’ve been too. Not many buffets in Jackson. They have potential :)

The food is freshly prepared, veggies are crisp, and the meals are delicious, consistently.

The food is fresh and very good .they have seafood for dinner (snow crab, shimp, mussels, and fish).the service is good. they have a big TV, so you can enjoy the football game. And they do delivery also.
