Old Hickory Mall

Nothing to write home about. I grew up in the Jackson area and I can say that this place has seen better days. The outside is pretty bland and boxy looking and the store facades are dated and in need of maintenance. The parking lot needs repaving. Seriously, you can’t see the lines in several spots. It would be nice if they could plant some more trees and flowers to spruce up the place both inside and out.
Inside is also bland and dated. Lots of empty store fronts and not a lot of variety of stores to chose from. It seems like all of the good stores have moved over to the Vann Drive area.
The mall is mostly boxed in by two very busy streets on one side and a cemetery on the other. They cannot expand not even by building a second floor because as some one explained to me, any additional retail space would require extra parking spaces to be built. They can’t pave over a cemetery and a parking garage would probably be too expensive.
Sad. I remember when this place was the THE place to go for shopping for Madison and all the surrounding counties.
