Specialties
For many, Nandy’s Candy means chocolate and traditional handmade candy. Since 1980, we have used only Peter’s™ Chocolate, a Swiss formula perfected by Daniel Peter in the 1800s. Starting with wonderful chocolate, we make the truffles, assorted creams, nut clusters, chips, melt-aways, treats, and molds that please discriminating taste buds. Whether biting into an American truffle, our best-selling concoction of light and dark chocolate with hazelnut, or a solid chocolate molded letter of the alphabet, chocolate lovers know the experience will always be exactly what they remember from the last time.
Traditional Southern favorites from our kitchen include hand-dipped chocolate strawberries, pralines, chocolate cherry cordials, chocolate-coated artisan-whipped marshmallows, fudge, and divinity.
We also hand package high quality candies that are longtime favorites, including Jelly Belly® jelly beans in 50 flavors, Haribo® Gummi Bears, rock candy, fruit slices and many others.
History
Established in 1980.
«Not just a candy store; a part of best memories and everyday special moments.»
Made in small batches in copper pots, in the kitchen of the cheerful store at Maywood Mart, Nandy’s Candy does more than satisfy a sweet tooth’s craving. It creates fond traditions and strong relationships. And that’s exactly what founder Nancy King set out to do as she opened the bright red doors of Jackson’s first premium handmade candy store in 1980. The rest, as they say, is history.
Today, Nandy’s Candy is not just a candy store. It’s a must-visit place for kids in town staying with grandma. It’s a first stop for those who’ve moved away and missed their American truffles or fudge. It’s a bag of Jelly Belly’s in every possible flavor, a Snoball in July, chocolate-dipped strawberries from the one you love.
Meet the Business Owner
Nancy K.
Business Owner
My passion for candy sparked as a child in Hutchinson, Kansas. There was a little candy store next to the movie theater called the Caramel Corn Shop. They sold penny candy. I would save up my dimes or 15 cents, and after a movie I’d get a bag of candy. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought I’d be in the business some day!
In 1980, my dreams of owning my own business came true. I opened my own store in Jackson, MS, October 1980.
For 35 years, I’ve made quality handmade candies, chocolates, and confections. Starting from scratch in our small copper pot. Always fresh and no preservatives or artificial flavorings. Presentation, consistency, and courteous customer service guide us daily.
My daughter, Emmie King now runs the day to day operations. She continues the tradition of making high quality handmade confections and running a small family business that brings JOY to all.
Everyone should experience «being a kid in our candy store» now matter their age.
