This place could not be better. The food was fantastic, the wait staff was friendly and extremely knowledgable and the food was PHENOMENAL. Best Chinese/Cantonese in town by far, and possibly best place overall in town.

I’m all for authentic Chinese food, especially after spending a majority of my childhood with my grandparents’ cooking and dining at numerous varieties of Chinese restaurants in Chinatown and Flushing, Queens in NY. So naturally, I’d be picky. But after having the pleasure of eating lunch at Hong Kong Tea House last Friday(for the first time), I was so happy to have a place like that near me in Jackson! First, I had the hot and sour soup, it was not too salty and it had just the right amount of heat(heat meaning spicy). Then, I had the steamed bbq pork buns served in a bamboo steamer. absolutely delicious. They were fluffy and the inner filling was full of flavor. Last, I had the steamed Shanghai style dumplings stuffed with pork and ginger(also served in a bamboo steamer). They were divine as well, especially with the vinegar dipping sauce they came with. The only issue I may have is the length of time it took for the Shanghai dumplings to be ready(the other dishes were fairly quick). My friend who was with me had the same issue with the sushi rolls he ordered. But other than those two menu items, the rest were fast and there were hardly any waiting involved. So if you’re in a rush, I’d recommend ordering from the Lunch Specials section of the menu. My friends ordered from that, and the dishes arrived quickly.(I don’t know about dinner though, I haven’t had a supper experience there yet.) But if you’re not in a rush, I personally find the food worth the wait. :) Very happy with it. Reasonable prices and wonderful service too.

They have dim sum and plate options. Well prepared, good service. If you don’t eat pork, be sure to ask if there is pork in every dish(you might order, for example, fish with tofu and finds that it’s cooked with pork strips). That said, lots of tasty vegetarian options for dim sum and plates, including vegetarian buns. True to its name, loose leaf tea is served by the kettle for a great price. I like the Jasmine green.

They have a wide variety of options to please any palate. The sashimi and dim sum were awesome. The mango pudding for dessert is refreshing and delicious.

I’ve been hearing great things about this new spot in NE Jackson. Some friends had brought in lunch specials at work, so I decided to try it out. I went with a lunch special — Schezwan Combo. It came with 2 large crab/cream cheese wontons, an egg roll, and fried rice. Very generous sized lunch for $ 8.75, and the other specials were in the $ 7 – 8 range and equally large. I went during rush hour, and the food took a little longer than they had estimated, which was no big deal — but if you’re in a rush, plan ahead. The wontons and egg roll were fine and freshly made. The fried rice was seasoned rice, no vegetables, eggs, etc. The entrée had large pieces of fresh onion, peppers, water chestnuts, carrots, and broccoli in a dark sauce, with several pieces each of beef, chicken and shrimp. It all tasted fresh and good. I don’t generally order this dish, so I can’t compare it to others but it was good — I just wish I’d had something a little more exotic. Note: it is marked as spicy, and I asked for extra heat. It was spicy but not too much — I’d give it a 1.5 or 2⁄5 peppers on a Thai rating scale(lol). My take away from this is go eat in and try the dim sum or sushi(there’s a sushi lump special too). What I had was good but nothing particularly special. From friends I have heard the dim sum and some of the more unusual items are what makes this place unique. I’ll be back and trying something less routine than what I ordered. I noticed they have a dim sum cart on Fri and Sat evenings — that would be fun to try.

LOVELOVELOVE! Best Chinese restaurant in Jackson, MS – hands down! Food is authentic, and the service is great! Dim sum carts go around on the weekends, but its still available to order off the menu all week long. I grew up in an asian household and in a big city, so dim sum on sunday mornings was a tradition. Since moving to MS, this has been harder to keep up – but HK Teahouse will be our new hotspot for sure!

Best sushi in Jackson. Awesome tea. Fresh ingredients. They have live seafood in tanks. Doesn’t get much fresher than that.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hot and sour soup is my favorite, possibly that I’ve ever had. They also have authentic Chinese dim sum, which is hard to find. I keep coming back and the food is always consistent.

I was STOKED to hear that Jackson finally got a dim sum restaurant. Growing up in a Chinese household in a big city, dim sum was always part of our weekly routine. I never imagined a life without it until I moved to Jackson! This is definitely quality stuff. I love that they have a friendly, knowledgable staff that walks people(who aren’t as verse in dim sum) through the process because it can definitely be overwhelming. Most dim sum restaurants in big cities assume that people know what they are doing and don’t typically have the friendliest service. Food is fresh, authentic, and brings back so much childhood nostalgia. I definitely recommend anyone trying dim sum for the first time to try their Baked BBQ bun(good segway from Southern food to authentic Chinese food), Sui Mai(chicken and shrimp dumpling) and egg custard. Those are always delicious choices for the beginner. Then if you want to be adventurous, I recommend trying the chicken feet, pork ribs, and any of their rice noodle rolls. So their dim sum definitely gets a 5⁄5 from me! As for their lunch and dinner entrees, I didn’t think they were too different from any of the other local Chinese restaurants. Still delicious, but if you come here just for their entrees, you are missing out! We tried their General Tso chicken(which is slightly different from the typical General Tso, it has vegetables and isn’t spicy) and the King Du pork(authentic fried pork dish with a sweet red sauce). Both made our tummies very happy. Our first time dining in for dinner, we didn’t realize that we were supposed to go pay the check ourselves at the front. Our server forgot to mention that to us, so we wasted a bit of time just sitting around waiting for her to come pick up our check. That’s okay though. Restaurant is new, kinks are expected. Overall, I am super excited about this restaurant and I hope to see it grow and continue to add more culture to Jackson, MS!

I was pretty excited to try this place since I had heard such great reviews, but sadly I wasn’t very impressed. I went with a few co-workers for our lunch break and we all ordered a few things to share. The jasmine tea was delicious, but I didn’t realize there’s no filter for the leaves. So we just had to watch each sip. No big deal. Our food took such a long time though, and even when the waitress did bring food it was only one little plate at a time with 10 to 15 minutes between each plate. In total it probably took us an hour and half to get food when the restaurant was barely half full. The food was… Meh. I tried the shrimp noodles, pork noodles, shrimp bell pepper, and stripe with chives and none of it was particularly good. The stripe was overly fishy tasting, and everything else has little to no flavor. The staff was very nice though, and most of their seafood is brought in fresh each day and kept in small tanks towards the back. I’m glad I tried it, but I most likely won’t go again.

We stopped at Jackson for only one night and really feel like some Chinese food, and we came back hotel with great satisfaction. The service was kinda of slow for a half empty restaurant, but the food was authentic. Try scallion chicken if you can eat chicken with bones.

Extra large portions on the lunch specials. Dim sum was authentic, fresh, and flavorful. Sushi roll presentation was impressive. Dim Sum chef from San Francisco and Sushi chef from Manhattan and it shows.

Happiness comes in the form of dim sum for the Jackson area and I hope others will enjoy the food as much as I did on my visit. At the recommendation of a friend, I decided to try this new restaurant. Walking in, you can clearly see that the restaurant is spacious, clean, and inviting. The hostess and waitress were very welcoming and friendly. However, service was slow even with it being in between lunch/dinner, and hopefully this will improve with time. Aside from dim sum, I had my sights set on ordering the salt and peppered crabs but alas, it was not meant to be because they did not receive their crab delivery. I looked over and saw live lobster and tilapia in the fish tanks. The waitress suggested the salt and peppered lobster as an alternative and I was quick to oblige. I was optimistic seeing that this was going to be freshly prepared lobster– surely the food fairies would be kind to me. Guess what?! The salt and peppered lobster was so delicious that we devoured it all(all $ 25 for 1 lb of lobster). The lobster meat was tender and juicy. Each bite left me wanting more. The claw was my favorite part because the meat was the most tender and full of sweet lobster flavor. The lobster was lightly breaded, not too salty and tossed in a medley of diced green bell peppers, jalapeños, garlic and onions. I can only imagine how equally delicious the crabs would have been. Go ahead, splurge, and get the salt and peppered lobster!!! I ordered dim sum items a la carte from the menu. They are prepared fresh and tasted average overall. Don’t forget to order the hot Chrysanthemum tea to complete your dim sum experience. My favorites were: 1) Steamed sticky rice in lotus leaf: filled with ground pork and a small piece of Chinese sausage 2) Steamed Shanghai style dumplings: good dumpling texture and ground pork filling was seasoned well 3) BBQ buns: sweet and savory = delish 4) Chinese Yu Choy greens: steamed perfectly, stalks still retained some crunch I’m happy and excited to have a dim sum restaurant in the area. I would definitely return for dim sum, salt and peppered lobsters/crabs, and try out their other Chinese food fares(seafood, clay hot pot, Chow fun and noodles, soups, chicken, beef, pork, veggies, egg foo yong) and even sushi. In addition to dim sum, Hong Kong Tea House would be a good choice for family style dining so that you can happily explore all the food options.

We at dim sum here today and it was fantastic. They only recently opened, less than 2 weeks ago, but word must spread fast because it was quite busy during the lunch hours today. Luckily, service did not suffer despite the crowd. The food was excellent and authentic, and there was certainly no shortage of options. It was all flavorful and yummy. We loved that their chicken feet had some kick to it(pun intended). They had 2 carts constantly going throughout the restaurant so you did not have to wait long for additional dishes. We like the BBQ pork buns and egg custard. The staff was very attentive and the manager was very involved. The location is very convenient and I hope they continue to do so well. We will definitely be returning for dim sum again in the near future.

ps. this place is a bit overprice, you can find more variety of dim sum in LA/SF/NY with more reasonable price. Yet this is the only option in Jackson, MS and the quality is outstanding!(but less options available) It defiantly a good place to come with group of friends. Important: make sure you match what you order vs. on the check, sometimes they make mistake and charge you extra! I enjoyed their food except their service that still need to improve(but that’s in general all Asian restaurants). The young lady who pull carts is very nice and polite which I’m pretty impressed, but the rest are slow when it isn’t busy at all. For instance, asking for chopstick and cup of tea. Coming form an Asian perspective, and lived in LA for at least 10 years, I highly recommend this restaurant and definitely will come back again. And I know who I can ask and who to ignore. Thanks for opening a dim sum place, I’ve been craving for a longest time!

Pretty excited to have a dim sum place here in Jackson that hand makes their dim sum fresh daily. I can tell it’s not frozen dim sum that’s been re-steamed like the other Chinese restaurants around here. I enjoyed everything that we got other than the scallop dumplings, I didn’t care for the texture of it. The seafood hot pot and crispy fried seafood noodle were a bit pricey, portion was small and taste was okay. I gave it a 4 because the service was slow due to communication between our server and the cook. Once they get that part down, I think they’ll be good to go.

Best dim sum in the city. They are brand new and working out kinks but the service was super friendly and food was spectacular. We had BBQ pork steam bun, pot stickers, steamed scallops, peanut and pork dumplings, and shrimp and chive dumplings. Topped everything off with the baked pineapple egg custard bun. Could’ve eaten my weight in dim sum. It was so good. Come hungry. Leave happy. Super affordable and authentic for sure. Pro tip: apparently they do the full presentation of dim sum on Saturdays and Sunday’s. Next trip will be one if those days.

Ok, my first time here and I was alone so didn’t get to try much. That having been said, what I did have(beef chow fun and egg drop soup) were the most«Americanized» things on the menu and both were wonderful! This isn’t really a place that you should come to alone– they have many great looking menu items, and from what I could tell, most were designed to be shared family style. This was especially true of the soups– four or five different styles for groups and an additional two that came in single serving portions. But the really interesting thing on the menu was all of the dim sum! I didn’t get to try any this trip but will be back!
