History

Established in 1991.

Fleming & Fleming, P.C. was started by James B. Fleming in 1991. Mr. Fleming, a native of Jackson, had worked for both a large-​size Detroit law firm and a mid-​size Grand Rapids law firm, and wanted to bring his knowledge and his commitment to the law to his hometown. He was joined by his father, James G. Fleming, in 1993. The senior Mr. Fleming was Judge of the 4^th Circuit Court from 1975 to 1993 and served the 19^th District on the Michigan State Senate from 1967 to 1974.

James B. Fleming’s wife, Anne D. Fleming, replaced his father when she joined the practice in 1995.

James B. Fleming graduated from Albion College in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in Professional Management. He received a Juris Doctorate in 1989 from the University of Detroit School of Law where he was a member of the Order of Barristers and the Corporate and Tax Journal. He was an instrumental member in the University of Detroit Law Review, University of Detroit Moot Court and the National Moot Court Trial Team. He received the American Jurisprudence Award in both Real Estate Transactions and Constitutional Law​.Mr. Fleming concentrates on Civil Litigation, Corporate Law, Commercial Litigation, Real Estate and Personal Injury. He has handled thousands of cases, many of them involving difficult and complex issues at the district and circuit court levels. He has appeared before and won cases in both the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. He is a member of the Jackson Country Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan and more.
