I’m given then a 3 star due to service not the food … The food is excellent but the service is just awful and the waiters are rude and needs to work on having a smile once in a while … They took an hour to bring the food out and I’m sure the food is fresh but how about the drinks they also need to be prepared… Also this restaurant is not big at all so service should go Faster… No matter who is the waiter is always the same story with their nasty attitude!

Recently came here for dinner since a good friend recommended the place. Tucked away in jackson heights, El Sol is a representation of good authentic peruvian food. Interior decór is nice, cozy ambiance. Staff was very friendly. We ordered spicy ceviche mixto and chicken tamal to start. The ceviche was very fresh, flavorful and declicious. Among one of the best ceviches I have had in a while. The tamal was also very good, came wrapped in banana leaves and exposed a tasty peruvian tamal. Definately recommend both dishes. I had the breaded steak with rice and papa ala huancaina, my girlfriend ordered aji de gallina. I wish I could have taken a pic of these entrees but it was so good we couldnt resist digging in. Everything tasted amazing. All ingredients were incorporated well and gave the plates a well rounded burst of flavors on my palate. To drink I had the chicha morada, which was also an accurate representation of how a real good homemade chicha morada is supposed to be. Sweet, slightly tangy, and refreshingly good. I knocked off a star only for two reasons. We had to request for water to be served and when our waiter brought it, he only brought one cup, hence we had to tell him again afterwards to bring another one for myself. Also, just an FYI, this restaurant only accepts mastercard or amex cards. Other than those two things, we had no issues otherwise. Service was great, food delicious, prices very reasonable, what more could you want?

So when haven’t done Peruvian breakfast in some time and this morning was a last minute thing. So my parents wanted to try this place out. Good thing at first was when got there it was quiet we were the 2nd group. The breakfast menu was typically pork, blood sausage, sweet potatoes and egg and sausage combo. They have natural juices and other typical drinks. The negative and almost ruined the morning was we ask the waitress if she could check to see if one little favor could be done. Our son someone’s is picking with Peruvian food so we asked if they could make scrabble eggs with hot dog(in case want to know they have fries with hot dogs so they do have the hot dogs) Well instead of saying let me check she says no after 3 no’s I ask don’t they have the hot dogs for the fries and hot dog? She says yes but they won’t do the favor(also there was only 2 tables so they were not busy) After she left my mother asked another waiter and he said he will ask, but I already knew they will not do it. I don’t know if the experience made us think the food was not as good or if it really wasn’t, but we won’t be back.

The food here is pretty good and at a very reasonable price. The portions are big and i love their ceviche and their beef fried rice with the green sauce! Ive been here many times for many occasions and i was never disappointed. The staff are friendly and at times they have a live band!

Very cute and cozy place, Went there last week, because I was craving green pasta. Upon walking in I liked the interior very much, it screamed«date night». I like that sort of atmosphere. There was live entertainment, a man singing song in the front right by the entrance. he was a bit loud in my opinion but still it can easily be overlooked. the seats were nice with white table cloths and he entire restaurant was nicely lit and had those tree lights around the restaurant and I really liked the sort of lighting effect that added. Our waitress was very friendly and sweet, she brought us our order I ordered green pasta which is basically pasta with pesto sauce with potatoes. You can either order steak or grilled chicken with it(I ordered steak) it was delicious! my friend ordered skirt steak and it came with a side of potatoes with this yellow sauce, very tasty I see myself going back there again. perfect for date nights.

This place has been one of my favorite Peruvian places to go to. The environment of the restaurant is nice and simple. Food is great and moderately priced. I’ve came here multiple times and each time the service has been great. The waiters are very welcoming to the customers and made sure I had a great dine in experience. Only con I would have to say about this place is parking is tough around the area. But if you get lucky to find a spot, definitely check this place out!

Came here with a Groupon, which was no problem at all. No discrimination there. We ordered the fish and seafood ceviche, and a skirt steak platter. The ceviche was served with an extra shot of lemon juice concoction on the side for dipping and was a generous amount(not in a tiny martini cup). The steak was good, not great. The maduros, ceviche and rice were the highlights for me. Our waitress was a one man show-restaurant had about 7 – 8 tables and she was the only one walking around. She was great, would love to return!

This place has one of the best skirt steak around but today I went with a healthier choice grill chicken with salad and my god was it horrible. The chicken wasn’t even grilled it was pan fried. And it wasn’t breast either looks like they just chopped it off of thighs and legs. And seriously one waiter for the whole restaurant. This place is starting to fall off the map.

This place is seriously the main reason I miss Jackson Heights. Why it doesn’t get more love is beyond me. Over the years have been here at least 20 – 30 times and always very good to an excellent. Whatever we order. There is one waiter who makes the bomb pisco sour but if he is not there it is just ok. Luckily not same issue with the food. Favorite apps are mussels and ceviche. Favorite main grilled whole snapper or grilled salmon trout. Mixed meat grill tasty also. Great price point. Great portions. Great romantic Peruvian décor. Don’t know what they put in their plain white rice and I am not a big starch girl but it gets me high. Forget Pio Pio if you want real deal Peruvian get your self over here. Have eaten at most of Peruvian restaurants in JH. It’s the best without question.

This place used to be a great Peruvian restaurant. However, not sure if new management took over or what, but this place stinks. The waitress was so rude. Me and my parents went to eat here since it’s been years since our last visit and we had to wait to 15 minutes before being serviced. She would take orders from bigger parties before us, which was uncalled for. Maybe she was trying to work hard for her tips, but she certainly didn’t deserve one from us. She had an annoyed facial expression when she finally came to take our order. The food was very mediocre as well. You’re better off going to another restaurant that has employees that understand the meaning of treating everyone equally with respect.

I went yesterday with my family 12 people total for a celebration. The food came out fast and was good no complains on the food. We ordered ceviches, jaleas, soups, lomo saltado and so much more. However the waitress really sucked! She was rude nasty and had this attitude as soon as we walked through the door! Sucks for them because we had lots of cash to spend on food drinks and tips. She didn’t deserve it. We spend total $ 240 that was so little for us considering when we go out on special occasions we spend anywhere from $ 590-$ 800. The point is having nasty rude people working in a customer service industry will mess up your business! We have been going there for years and sadly everyone is right it takes one bad thing to happen for it to really make you not want to go back! Never again! Three stars for the food that’s it!

Yummiest Peruvian food ever. Me and my friends ordered ceviche con camarrones, tacu tacu bistec encebollado and Lomo saltado from grill. Everything was very fresh and cooked to a yummy perfection. I am definitely coming back here again. The waiter was very polite and attentive. The only«but» there was the espresso, no foam… I tried this sweet burgundy colored, non alcoholic drink, chicha morada, that I really liked, tasted like non alcoholic sangria. The interior was very authentic. Our bill was $ 76 without tips. So you get great food, big portions for a good price.

Been here multiple times and I always get the Lomo Saltado and the Pisco drink. Delicious can’t forget to add the green sauce to this perfect dish. I also get the potatoes with the yellow sauce. Not sure of the name but is sooooo yummy. I need to get the ceviche next time I am there. But, everytime I go I always get the same thing yummy!

El Sol it’s my second home away from home, we almost share the same zipcode but these border lines are keeping us apart. Anyways i have been a loyal customer since back when el sol used to be called sunrise(bad joke). Seriously though i have introduced many of my family members and friends to this spot whenever they ask me where to go for some good olé inca food, mis paisanos at el sol have never let me down, representing us well. I have tried many of their dishes and they all have been delicious/exquisite but as I have mentioned on other reviews, I stick to what works. Kind of like if it ain’t broken then why fix it, ya feels me. We decided to pay another visit today with my wife and daughter, my lil one being 6 loves ceviche and is not picky when it comes to peruvian cuisine, real recognizes real. We started with the queso and choclo as well as ceviche mixto for starters, then we all got a plate, wife got un bistec a lo pobre, i got the arroz chaufa special and daughter tallarines verdes with bistec, oh yeah she doesnt play and orders typical salchipapa or something off the kiddie menu, her tastebuds fully developed. Ceviche had the amount of pica and the fish was fresh as always, bistec a lo pobre based on what wifey mentioned was very good and a huge amount of food, tallarines verdes didnt disappoint as my chuckyface went in and got rid of I would say 60% of a growns serving, our dry cleaning lady is gonna have fun removing those green stains from her uniform and finally the arroz chaufa, one of my favorites, has everything you could think of to make ur life just a little better than what already is, highly recommend this spot. Reason why I gave it a four star review its because they started adding tips automatically to the bill, even when it was only 3 of us. I was going to give additional tip on top of that but thankfully wife checked before paying and noticed the tip included, very slick el sol even after I asked our waitress to get me change for tip, well played well played but not on my watch, gotta love my peruvian people and their hustle if you can call it that.
Best entrana(skirt steak) in the neighborhood. Make sure to stress the temperature to your server if you want anything less than Well or Med Well. Honestly, everything is so fresh and properly seasoned that its hard not to gush about the entire menu. The ceviche mixto is really the standout though. One order is big enough for two people or one person’s entrée. Each ceviche is served peruvian style– meaning with sweet potato, regular potato and hominy. Yum. Wine is priced reasonably although it’s mostly reds– so so reds at that– which seems to be typical for most of the Spanish speaking establishments in this area. Really wish they would add some Albariño or prosecco– would pair great with the seafood!!!

Judging from the outside, you wouldn’t expect such a cute place inside. As far as the food, service was pretty descent. The ceviche was delicious. I asked for spicy but I didn’t get my ceviche as spicy as I would have wanted it but good flavors and a good portion too. The waiter was nice enough to not charge us a corkage fee for our bottle of wine. Gratuity is already included in the bill which is fine by me but my Peruvian family was not too happy about that. My husband had the seco de Cabrito and the meat was nice and tender. My sister had the salmon and it was tasty and a good portion too. Overall good dinner experience, will consider it next time I’m looking for my Peruvian food fix.
