Fine market on 37th but prices are steeper than they should be for what’s available.

City grocery stores are a necessity but not necessarily a pleasure. However, if they function, I can’t complain too much so that’s why I’m giving Global Supermarket three stars. I stopped by here to pick up some seltzer and this place is laid out in the funkiest of ways! There are little nooks and crannies all over the place, so if you’re walking down the front, looking down each aisle to see what you want but you can’t find it, don’t fret! Walk towards the back of the store and check in some of the side aisles. During my wanderings through the store, I did see that they were fully stocked and had a lot of items that I would buy if this were my neighborhood store. Thumbs up for having a well stocked place! Overall, the place was worn but not too dirty. There was a guy mopping the floor by the dairy case when I was there so they do take cleaning seriously. Checkout was fast and the cashier looked at me(not at her phone) while checking out so that alone with worth a couple of stars. I don’t know how it compares to the Food Town across the street, but for a cramped store in a high –density area, I’ve seen a lot worse(like the Key Food in LIC).

This was trade fair before and was well managed. then the new owners came and things changed. The bread is not baked there anymore. The prices went up and service on the floor is missing. The young BANGLA manager is a good guy but the bosses need to get the train back on the track.

I do not understand why anyone would shop here They fired all of the union employees and opened under a different name. Willard says they have mice now. What needs to happen for you people to stop shopping here? Suzy, you must be very selfish to shop at a store like this.

A small store. The meat section is poor and overpriced. Nothing ever looks fresh. The rest of the store is a good place to purchase cooking needs for the diversity of cultures in the neighborhood. The problem is the current management and the employees. Check out lines according to which of the cashiers are in the mood. Dead mice in the dried chile spice box. The’vr since cleaned AFTER I told them. I’m not going to buy possibly mouse feces and dried chile peppers for dinner. All indicative of a manager who doesn’t have the time or inclination to manage. The employees do as they please and it shows. The store isn’t clean and has mice. I say all this and yet its better then the MET across the street. Where customers come last and the service is even worse.

The layout is still a maze, everything is counter intuitive! The check out is great though, there is usually no line or a short line. That is the main reason i come here, it’s a very fast shopping trip for me. It used to be 24 hours and now it’s closed at 12, which is fine for me. The check out staff are usually really nice and friendly, even at 12: am.

The people are polite and do their job well. They aisles are neater than I’ve every seen them and the produce section is easier to manage than when it was a Trade Fair. What I like best about this place is that under new management they have started to sell more locally grown/manufactured items. Today I saw locally grown greens(baby spinach, arugala, etc.) on sale for only $ 2. They have peaches from Jersey and apples from NY for only $ 1 lb. I also bought some delicious bread made in astoria for only $ 3. It was tasty and had seed that I could both see and taste. The best part was that it has absolutely NOPRESERVATIVES. I could read all of the ingredients and they were all things that should go into a loaf of bread. It’s called«Signature blends» and it’s affordable, hand made bread. Seeing as comparable breads can go for $ 6 at some other places, I was very happy to find this little gem. However, it was tucked away to the side and I would not have found it had I not gone looking for it. This place has vastly improved since it was a Trade Fair. It is cleaner, the selection is better, and the prices are just as affordable. I am giving this five star because while the aisles are cramped, there is a limited amount of space in the store and I don’t see how the new owners could have done much about that. I have a feeling that if they just advertise their selection of organic and local products better they would have a lot more business.

This place took over the Trade Fair that ran here. It’s really a 1 star, but the fact that it’s 24⁄7 is great, except for when they’re not actually 24÷7… I’m not sure whether they don’t run through the night on certain days of the week or whether they are just spontaneously closing when the owner feels like it. Either way if you advertise yourself as 24/7, why can’t you actually be 24⁄7??? Hence the 2 stars… The aisles are difficult to navigate. Yea you’ll find what you need, but it doesn’t have the rigid structure of a good supermarket. For example if I’m looking for a brand of potato chips in the snack aisle, I don’t have that confidence that it will either be here or not. I get that feeling like it might be in some random aisle elsewhere. These new workers that Global brought along are aright. They just do their job. Meat section is ok, haven’t seen much quality beef here, oh well. I was hoping the change of ownership would bring this place some shine but i guess not. I don’t really care since all supermarkets around here kinda suck. I’ll stick with the much better Foodtown a block over.

Prices are fair and decent. The price of bread crumbs was $ 1.29. Pretty affordable. I also purchased about half a pound of ground beef for something close to $ 1.50. There was whole grain pita bread for just 99 cents. The staff is okay, and the lines are not really that long. I came around 6:30 pm, and it was easy to locate the items.
