History
Established in 2006.
A historical property that was previously known as the Rose Inn. This property was purchased by John and Elizabeth Hamilton and rebuilt after a fire and abandonment had devastated the property in March of 2004. The restaurant was built as a carriage house in 1852 and all of the beams and wood work are original to the building. The property was renovated and the Inn was completely rebuilt in an Italianate Mansion style of the original building that was built in 1851. The Hamiltons have also completely renovated the restaurant, rebuilt the barn, and brought the 80 year old orchard and english gardens back to their glory. Once an impressive gentleman’s farm, the Hamiltons have continued this presence with returning to raising rare breed Clun Forest Sheep for meat and cheese production on the 13.5 acre property. The John Joseph Inn and Elizabeth Restaurant is a gorgeous historical property that offers memorable dinning experiences and fine lodging year round. Thank you.

Business Owner
Both John and Elizabeth Hamilton attended the renowned Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY where they received their Associates and Bachelors degrees. After graduating from the C.I.A. they traveled the country opening restaurants and consulting from Washington D.C. to Napa Valley to return to Ithaca NY where they were both born and raised to rebuild the historical Rose Inn property. They live in the area with their four sons and daughter, are thrilled to return to this magnificent region to add to the culinary splendor that is rapidly growing in the Finger Lakes region.
