A.S.A.P. Cab Company

ASAP is hit and miss. Sometimes they are on time, sometimes 20 minutes late, and sometimes over an hour late. They just aren’t consistent. However, I would probably recommend them instead of some of the other taxi services in Ithaca like Collegetown Cab.

I just moved here and heard all the cab companies were pretty bad so went with the one with the best reviews. Called dispatcher at 7:30AM for 9:15AM flight hoping they could pick me up by 8:00. Cab showed up at 8:30. Missed flight. Super pissed.
In hindsight, should have booked the day before, but then they shouldn’t have told me «no problem» when I called the morning of. Otherwise, I would have made other arrangements and not missed my flight.

I’d like to give ASAP five stars because they are by far the best, most reliable, and courteous cab company in the Ithaca area. I’ve had horrible experiences with both Collegetown Cab and Cayuga dispatch. Four times (FOUR!) I’ve called Cayuga dispatch to take me to the airport – sometimes calling ten hours in advance – and they’ve either never shown up or shown up EXTREMELY late. If I hadn’t hopped into another passing cab, I would have missed my flight every single time I relied on them. Horrible. Collegetown Cab, while better, has never picked up their phone for me when I called. And I’ve tried many times.
Getting a cab with ASAP is so easy. The dispatcher is polite and friendly and never gets my info wrong. The cabs are always 5 minutes early, waiting in the right spot, and the drivers are pleasant. For this, I gladly say that they’ve earned my loyalty when I need a cab. They are also slightly cheaper than the other cab companies and will give you slack on luggage fees.
I do knock off one star because their taxis are in disrepair. They’re beat-​up old vans with dented fenders and doors that stick and are hard to open. The insides are clean but they’re just really old, clunky cars. Once, the engine even stalled a few times before starting, which made me nervous. But other than that, they are definitely the best cab company in Ithaca. Thank you ASAP for being a godsend.

I called them to see if they had any cabs in the area and got lucky since they were in the middle of a shift change. I took off one star since the dispatcher didn’t call me back once she confirmed the driver could come. It was a pretty quick and inexpensive ride.

How about cleaning up your yard? And the drive that goes from 13A to your business? There’s garbage strewn all the way down the drive and in and around the parking lot. You recently moved in and are not presenting yourselves as very good neighbors. Come on people — used McDonalds cups and wrappers, plastic water bottles, soda bottles, beer cans, etc. Haven’t you ever heard of garbage cans? Do you just barrel down that road and toss stuff out the window?

The absolute worst. I called an hour and a half before I needed to be picked up and they took my info and said it would be here. I called to confirm 10 minutes before I needed to go and they had no record of me, and there was an hour wait, then the operated hung up on me… most likely before I could tell her how unfair that was. Don’t use them if you actually need to be somewhere and don’t have an hour to wait for their schedule to open up.

As an seasoned cab user in Ithaca, I can say with experience that ALL of the cab companies serving this town suck! For the most part ASAP drivers are courteous and competent, and the dispatchers aren’t the bold faced liars of Ithaca Dispatch, but they aren’t very accurate or helpful either. I don’t recommend this company any higher than the others. Place your call and take your chances.

I have to say, for being called A.S.A.P. Cab Company, A.S.A.P is not very fast. Over the summer I have dabbled with a few cab companies. I think I may have called just about every cab company in the area. With each call I always look for the fastest and the cheapest option. A.S.A.P is always the cheapest but they take forever and they are rarely on time. Whenever they give you a time I would add 20 to 30 more minutes to it. So I wouldn’t call them unless I was not in a rush. I would also expect to pay more after I got in the cab. When you call them they will give you one price but the driver always charges more after you got in the cab. Double check how much it will be BEFORE you get in the cab.
For a faster option I would call CollegeTown Cab. They are a little more expensive and they are a few minutes late sometimes but they are faster then A.S.A.P. But they are not perfect. They have a lot of new drivers who don’t really know the campus a lot but they are nice. So the choice is really up to you in the end.

I saw a cab driving on I-​80, had to be going 100+ up a curvy stretch of road climbing the Pocono Plateau. Driver had two hands on coffee when I saw him, just after he came within inches of running my car off the side of the road. I could only imagine how terrifying it would be to be driven by a maniac like that.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY– DO NOT RELY ON THEM. I am genuinely flabbergasted by this cab company’s rudeness, inefficiency, and disrespect. The woman on the phone confirmed that a cab would come in 15 minutes. 20 minutes later, I called & she said I hadn’t provided enough info. I gave her my location, but I ended up having to call another company & wait for them to come. Absolutely horrible experience. Never again.

I needed a cab and was skeptical about this company due to previous ratings, but decided to give them a try. I’m glad I did. The evening they were supposed to arrive, they couldn’t find me and thus I ended up getting a ride from a friend. I was more than just a little irritated.
The next day I needed a cab again and called A.S.A.P. again. Everyone deserves a second chance… The dispatcher who answered the phone remembered me and apologized up & down for missing me the night before. He offered to give me a free ride this round to make up for it.
Everyone makes mistakes but this customer service was outstanding. The driver that picked me up was chatty and pleasant. He was also very apologetic, though he really didn’t have anything to do with the situation the previous night. People make mistakes and you can’t please all of the people all of the time.
I wanted to commend ASAP Cab Company for their superb customer service and let them know I will be calling again. I have told several people about my experience and that is ultimately worth more than a Unilocal!review anyway. Keep up the good work guys.

This cab service is very prompt and professional. They are always there when you book them and courteous as well. My son books them every time he needs to go to Rochester or Syracuse airport to come home to California. He used another cab company before this company existed. He said that other company was rude and never on time. We have yet to have a problem with ASAP and have been using them ever since the car service we used before went out of business. Highly recommend to anyone requiring great and dependable cab service!

Completely unreliable. Showed up 20 minutes late once for arranged ride to airport. Second tine more than 1.5 hours late! Use someone else.

GREAT. I think Ithaca had only one cab company before ASAP. Ithaca dispatch/​university taxi/​IDI courier/​Cayuga tax/​ithaca taxi are all the same company; they all have the same website and business address. And they’d charge ridiculously high prices ($ 30 PER PERSON to get to the airport with 2 people in the cab). I paid $ 17 to get to the airport ($ 15 flat fee, $ 2 luggage charge, tip not incl) with ASAP and I was the only passenger. I think they let you share rates to the airport too instead of each individual being charged separately for the cab ride. The only negative is that they’re a small fleet since they’re so new.

This is the fastest cab service in Ithaca, end of story. Forget Collegetown Cabs, forget University Taxi, forget them all. The fact that A.S.A.P.‘s prices are also the lowest in town is icing on the cake. Clean cabs, friendly drivers. Professional in every way.
