Providing therapeutic skin care therapy and been involved in health and wellness creates the ideal outlet for us to help our guests make the best choices for their skin.

Viola R.

Business Owner

Viola, the founder of Zilpa Spa relocated to Boston from South Africa in 2003. She intiated her studies at the University of Massachusetts. In the years following she relocated once more and now is continuing her undergraduate degree at the University of Washington, ultimately her goal is to be a Dermatologist. Viola’s interest and intrigue with the human self has persuaded her to take on a major in Cultural Anthropology and minor in Religion while completing her Pre — Med program.

Whilst at the University of Washington Viola took on her passion of being a Skin Care Therapist, and now serves as a Washington State Licensed Esthetician. She finds much pleasure in her venture as an Esthetician since it is her passion to help others with their self esteem, quality of life and improving their professional image by targeting their skincare concerns. Upon graduation as an Esthetician Viola launched Zilpa Spa.

Viola is the BEST! I was extremely tentative and very anxious about getting sugaring done last summer. It’s not something I have done often and the very few experiences I had were painful, poor quality, and mediocre service. Her customer service is OUTSTANDING. I felt so comfortable as if it was best friend or sister helping me out. You would be crazy to pass up a treatment from Viola. She is knowledgeable, passionate, creates a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

Viola is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about skin care and that is why I continue to see her on a regular basis. The level of comfort and trust I’ve built with her is unparalleled. I never feel like she’s pushing unnecessary products on me or trying to get me try the latest and greatest new skin care trend. I’ve got extremely oily skin and she’s even recommended low cost organic masks I can do on my own. She’s in it to really help people solve their skin care issues and it’s nice to know you’re speaking with someone with integrity. Within 2 minutes of your first consultation you’ll know you’re speaking with a highly intelligent and experienced skin scare specialist. Viola has been a dream to work in the last few years and I’ve seen great results from her expert care. She’s my go to for all my skin care needs and I can’t rave enough about her!

In need of a facial? Viola is the best! She makes my skin so smooth and it feels amazing. I’m so glad I found her through Unilocal.She recommends skin care products that works best for my skin type (combination and acneic) and is never pushy about selling anything. I especially love the retinol cream. Smells great and does wonder to my skin. I only use it at night.
I also got to try a hydrafacial and boy have I been missing out! My skin feels incredibly babified (just made up that word). You know what baby skin feels like? Yes, that!
I always let her choose which facial to do because she knows my skin best. I will only trust Viola with my facial needs. She is very professional and possess a very loving and caring personality.

I just went to Viola for the first time today, based on the reviews here in Unilocal.I used the ‘glow’ coupon posted here, and Viola customized my treatment with no additional charge. I also had my brows done, and the sugaring was a first for me, and definitely a positive experience. Viola makes you feel right at ease, and lets you know from the get-​go that she will take good care of you!
She was professional, knowledgable and personable (exactly what I was looking for). She clearly knows her business and takes pride in doing an excellent job for her clients, you can tell she looks at you in terms of a client she wants to have return (which I really appreciate)! Her location is crisp and clean and very relaxing. Viola is literally a gem and I’m so grateful to have found her! My skin looks and feels great and I will definitely be going back!

I came here recently because I had bought a LivingSocial deal for a facial. I have to say that this is the best facial I have ever had. Lauren did such an amazing job! She examined my skin so thoroughly and asked me questions about my skin routine which helped her give me such great information on products to use and not to use, as well as, giving me info on how to improve my skin routine. I was so pleased with this appt and can’t wait to go back!

I had a most wonderful facial today with Viola!
Viola is professional, personable, and very good at what she does. She accommodated me with a same-​day appointment pleasantly. She is also a UW medical school student — someone who takes her practice seriously!
Her location in downtown Issaquah provides a clean and relaxing atmosphere. She talked with me about my skin needs and recommended a holistic facial with extraction. The bed is very comfortable, with ergonomic knee angles to support the lower back while laying for 60 – 90 minutes. The bed is warmed and cozy-​comfortable. The room is decorated in a welcoming, pleasantly aesthetic manner. Every detail is relaxing — nothing was distracting from the relaxation experienice in the least.
The facial was delightful! Her products didn’t bother my sensitive skin one bit, and smelled delicious. The facial also included a professional hand, arm, neck, shoulder, scalp, and foot massage. She uses the hydrafacial system for extractions, which was very gentle (pain-​free vacuum-​like tool) and very effective.
I enjoyed myself very much, and will be recommending her to my family and friends. Thank you Viola!

I found Zilpa Spa from Urban Delight. I have read and gone to its website. I bought the Facial deal and i am so glad I did. Viola the owner of Zilpa Spa was amazing… She’s not only friendly and kind but she knows her business very well. She makes her customer feel at home and comfortable while she is doing facial on my face, in addition to that she massages my arms, shoulders and foot. She explains in detail what she was doing, what she was applying and what would work best in my face after the facial. It was so relaxing. The heated table feel so good and relaxes your whole body.
That was my first time to try out Zilpa Spa and I am very satisfied with the service I received. I will recommend her to all my friends and family as she is a very charming.

As with most places I try, I found Zilpa through a daily deal and have now been 3 separate times: once for a wrap with Viola and twice for 90-​minute massages with Elizabeth. There’s just one way to summarize my experiences: FABULOUS!
The first time I went was for a massage. The place is a tad hard to find the first time if their sign isn’t on the sidewalk, because the small building is a bit unassuming. However, inside is both small and charming.
The massage table is luxurious — cushy, elegant covers and a nice warm heating pad to make you feel incredibly pampered. Elizabeth is simply a gift from God — 90 minutes go far too quickly, and you feel positively incredible afterward! I loved my first massage with her so much that I took them up on a special to pre-​pay another 90-​minute massage at a discount. (Let me just say that I NEVER take people up on those offers, but I just couldn’t resist!) A month or so later I cashed in on massage #2 and was not disappointed!
I also had my first wrap ever with Viola, and it was also a very pleasant experience. Besides being funny and friendly, Viola is extremely knowledgeable. She explains what is and will be done, provides advice for what to do to continue the path to best results, and also provides helpful suggestions for any other skincare issues she notices as she’s working on you. I felt completely comfortable and in great hands the whole time — even if it’s not quite the pampering of their luxurious massages!
Overall, I’ve visited countless day spas and masseuses in the Seattle/​Eastside area since moving here 2 years ago. I was consistently being disappointed until I found this place, and now I wouldn’t hesitate to make an appointment here — discount or not!

Better than I thought! I had bought a groupon deal and had expected these deals to kinda hoaxy.
However, the Spa was lovely, the service amazing and my face feels great. First Facial I was not pushed to buy a million things.
It’s very quiet too. Just thought I should mention that because I have had many facials before where the spa was horribly noisey.

Came in for a last-​minute sugaring appointment, first time sugaring!
Viola was friendly and very warm and her space is cozy and has a great sense of style. She did a little explanation of sugaring, the ingredients in the sugaring formula, and explained how she uses the high frequency tool to help counter any potential for post-​treatment breakouts. Usually I stick with threading on my face because waxing has ALWAYS yielded breakouts, but with her routine of cleansing before and after the sugaring and the high-​frequency after, I am thrilled to report that nary a bump has shown up. The high-​frequency device does give off a bit of an ozone-​y smell, but quickly dissipated and IMO was totally worth dealing with for 30 min for not having any breakouts.
While she did her sugaring magic we discussed various hair removal methods and she even gave me referrals to two other businesses for things I was interested in. It’s a rare business owner that will willingly refer their clients elsewhere for competing services (threading and electrolysis when she does sugaring and waxing) but I really appreciated her understanding that the different methods all have their merits and not being afraid to recommend something even if she might lose business for it.
That said, even if my defuzzing dollars go elsewhere, I know just the spot for awesome skin treatments that incorporate clinical-​grade know-​how with deliciously natural products. Clinical and holistic menu look great, so I will be coming back for sure!

Just went here yesterday for a sugaring treatment. Truth be told — I wasn’t too excited at the prospect of what I was about to get done (ladies, you know what I’m talking about) but come my vacation I wanted to be ready. Needless to say, I had nothing and I mean nothing to worry about. Viola was awesome. She was super fast and a lot less painful then treatments I have had in the past. It was a breeze to get an appointment that worked around my schedule and she makes you feel totally comfortable. Before you know, you’re all done and looking perfect!
I will be back and I will tell all my friends!
