Confetti Cupcakes

You. Will. Crave. These. This place is AMAZING! I have had an assortment of cupcakes and my favorite is the chocolate with buttercream frosting. I’m not normally a sweets person, let alone a cupcake person, but after eating these I found myself wanting more. I have yet to find anything else that compares. There is something about the way they make their frosting that is almost addicting. The balance of the cake and frosting as far as sweetness goes is perfect. I will continue coming here not only for the ridiculously delicious cupcakes, but because the owner is an absolute sweetheart and she went above and beyond for me when placing orders. I would highly recommend stopping by to try one out when you are in the area!

It has been a long time since I’ve been to a cupcake shop and said, «Oh. My God.» I did just that at Confetti Cupcakes.
My husband and I recently moved to Astoria, OR… which is devoid of specialty gourmet cupcake shops. Deciding to visit friends in Issaquah, we were given the suggestion of trying this particular cupcake shop during the Salmon Days festival. The frosting was just the right sweetness (without being overpowering), with amazing standard flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet… while also having some creative ones as well (like maple bacon). My husband is NOT a huge cupcake fan, but LOVED their chocolate cupcake. My friend who had the maple bacon said that it was better than breakfast. And me… because I am a huge cupcake person… had red velvet and a vanilla. Regardless of their simplicity, I feel that both of these flavors are VERY hard to get right. Confetti Cupcakes rose to that challenge though… and I was in love. The red velvet was so moist I could have died. The vanilla… heaven.
On top of that, the service was friendly and fast, while their prices were extremely reasonable. I would 100% recommend this place.
On top of that… I will say that on the same trip (the next day), I hit Seattle proper and tried Royal Cupcakes. Comparing to Confetti… Confetti wins BY FAR.
Astoria is like three and a half hours from Issaquah. It says A LOT that I’m willing to do that drive again, and fairly often, for these cupcakes.

This place by far makes the best cupcakes. There are no words that describe how amazing his place is. This is my first review for anything. That should show you how much I fell in love with this place. It’s so cozy and the service is great. I work in the food/​beverage industry so I know good service when I see it. When you walk in, it smells delicious. I was a little weary on trying the coconut one buy she let me sample it and let me know all you coconut lovers that no joke that was the best one I’ve ever had. It’s not too sweet and you can tell they use real coconut! They offer gluten free cupcakes also! … Can’t wait to go back. It’s a bit of a drive but it is well worth it!

Really good cupcakes and vanilla cake pops. We’ve had their vanilla cake pops and those are really good — finally picked up one of their Minion cake pops and my kiddo can’t wait to dig into it. (Update on that — the Minion cake pop is chocolate on the inside and was rather dry — will stick to the vanilla ones from now on). We also usually get their chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting and I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars! The chocolate frosting is a bit sweet but it’s really fluffy so that helps it out a bit — it would be a bit much if it were dense. I really love the flavor and texture of their chocolate cupcake though — has a darker richer chocolate flavor. Mmmmmm. The cupcake for the cookies n cream cupcake tasted the same as the chocolate one but the frosting was much denser. I preferred the choc one and hubby the cookies n cream so it was a win win for both of us!
Also just noticed today that we had an
coupon so used that for a bigger order today.

My husband and I dropped in one day to taste their cupcakes since we didn’t want a traditional wedding cake. Kilee went above & beyond with samples. We knew right away after meeting her that this was the place for us. Once we tried all of the flavors, she sent us home with more samples for our parents!
Cupcakes can be so heavy at times, but not these! I even ate the frosting, which I tend to lop off the top and throw away. We chose cookies & cream and a salted caramel flavor and they were delicious! She also makes a cutting cake for the reception. If you want tiers, they rent them!
Everything turned out perfect on the day of. If I need a large amount of cupcakes, I won’t hesitate to use Confetti again!

This is a tough review to write because I’ve had great experiences… and now one pretty bad one. I’m actually writing this on behalf of my best friend who just got married; she won’t speak up but someone needs to say something… who better than me, the person who recommended Confetti! First, she was very nervous through the whole ordering process — to the point that she had to go in and have them sit down with her to confirm they knew all of the information and could be trusted. They didn’t write anything down (no order forms), they misplaced her credit card information, and in the end she still didn’t get what she ordered (they either weren’t listening or… didn’t remember since they didn’t write anything down!) On the day of the wedding, the cupcakes were due to be ready by 1PM for pick up. They were not ready at 1PM. They were not ready at 2PM. Her dad had to bring what WAS ready to the location and they delivered the rest (at no point stating, «we’ll bring them to you AT NO CHARGE» so she’s still waiting to see if she’ll get billed. If a bill does come, she’ll have to argue about that). When the cupcakes arrived, the pink color was wrong and she asked for PLAIN cupcakes with just frosting and NO SPRINKLES! Every cupcake was covered in sprinkles. They are lucky she was not the bridezilla-​type.
Now on to the part that was strangest to me… and the most disheartening. I come into the shop 4 times a year to get 4 cupcakes — when each member of our family has a birthday. Every time I get them, they are amazingly delicious! I would not have recommended them if they hadn’t been. And, the bride wouldn’t have ordered them (the ones she had at her tasting were great!). But, the cupcakes they brought that day (in the words of the bride) «tasted like they ran out of time and brought store-​bought cupcakes.» The chocolate was bland, the lemon tasted fake, and the frosting (while it tasted fine) was super greasy! I don’t know if they haven’t mastered mass-​quantity recipes or if they really did give up and go to the store. In the end, there were probably 10 dozen cupcakes they had to send home with people because they didn’t get eaten at the wedding. So sad.
I’ll still come in for small quantities, but they really need to figure things out for event baking!

Yum! We had a Groupon and went in just before closing tonight to get our 6 cupcakes. The guy helping us was really great and the cupcakes were amazing! I consider myself a bit of a cupcake connoisseur and have been disappointed by some of the cupcakes places in the area (like the disaster that is Pinka Bella). I love the dense texture of the cake and that they weren’t overly sweet. I’ve tried the lemon and the snickerdoodle so far and both were delicious.

Ohhhhhh yuuuuummmmm. Perfection. My chosen cupcake was vanilla on vanilla with rainbow sprinkles. So pretty and so perfect. :) The cake was just right, I know that what’s just right differs to one person to the next, but I can only say that the cake tasted like… cake. And not sweet hardly at all. Now that is the way it should be, and the frosting, as one would think, would and should be sweeter than the cake. That way as to not over do it.
Now, I have only loved cupcakes for the past couple years, as it was always too much frosting to cake ratio for me. But then I have realized that it wasn’t a non love of cupcakes, it was the particular cupcakes I had tried. Waaaay too sweet. Waaaay too sugary moist cake. Just way too many possible cavities in one sugar intake. But these were just right. You have to try for yourself to understand why.
The place itself was cute and cupcakey. Pink and white. Just a few seats if you choose to stay there to enjoy your cakes if you can’t wait till you get home! I will SO be back!!!

I just recently got married at a venue in Issaquah and wanted to purchase cupcakes and a cake from a bakery closer to the venue to cutdown on the delivery charge. Boy did we get lucky! Kilee, the owner, did everything in her power to try and make my dreams of a blue velvet cake come true. Every other bakery I called just said no, that it wasn’t possible. Kilee tried more than once to find a recipe that worked with the color and for that we are so grateful. Unfortunately, the blue food coloring altered the quality of the cake and we had to go a different route. We ended up purchasing Nutella chocolate cupcakes, vanilla buttercream cupcakes and a red velvet two tier cake. The flavor in each of the three was remarkably moist and delicious! Oh, did I mention I was barely over two weeks out from our wedding date when I came to Kilee? Oops. It often seems as if great customer service can be hard to come by but at Confetti Cupcakes they go above and beyond and absolutely deliver!

These cupcakes are ridiculously dense and the frosting is overpoweringly sweet. I had a stomachache after just a half. It looks like they have several flavors but there were only four total to choose from including chocolate and vanilla. There were only one or two of each flavor too. The guy behind the counter was nice but these are definitely not fluffy or tasty cupcakes, especially for the price!

For my first birthday ever away from my mama she had Kilee, the owner, deliver cupcakes to my work. Not only was this surprise heart warming being 3,000 miles away from my family, but Kilee helped to make our experience so much more personable and friendly. She called me to make sure that I got my delivery and told my mama that she had waited for awhile while I was at lunch to hand deliver them to me. (She even offered to make another flavor off the menu, though I am not sure she would want me to put that on Unilocal… AND put in a delicious bonus birthday girl cupcake and truffles. Very accommodating.)
The actual cupcakes were so hard to share and were all decorated so beautifully. Even my coworkers whom didn’t like cake enjoyed the moist cake and light fluffy icing. Help support local businesses and this sweet new business owner!

The new owner reached out and while it’s taken me some time, I have finally got back in to check out any changes…
Very pleasantly surprised. Open Memorial Day, new vibe entirely, fresh casual fittings and deals going, and a very nice fellow behind the counter. I figured I would try their coffee as I’ve grown fond of coffee but don’t like having to travel so far to my favorite Starbucks. Regrettably couldn’t try today as machine down (lost a star) but thanks to the friendly conversation and no pressure vibe and willingness to help (I asked a flavor and instead of making me ask for each one, which happened previously, he took the initiative and volunteered each one) I bought one. Wow. So much better than my last experience. This one was moist and rich without being overpowering, and clearly never frozen. And had less icing than cake!!! Yay!!!
I was going to save half to go with my coffee later but wasn’t to be…

The best cupcake I’ve ever had! Went in this morning and the lady working was extremely friendly and helpful. I am super picky too! The frosting was absolutely amazing I got the vanilla and I will definitely come back! What a cute little cupcake shop!

Too expensive. Not that great except for the Snickerdoodle cupcakes. Service is snobbish. Sad really… Great idea and location. Get your service act together… And lower your prices!!!

Beautiful and yummy cupcakes! They were very creative in helping to come up with the colors I needed for a baby shower. The flavors they picked for the assortment were perfect and the guests of the shower loved them all!

Totally put the frosting on my cousin’s 18^th bday!
The cupcakes were not only gorgeous but were delicious as well. We got a mixed bag that were devoured! Packed super well so that they didn’t get smashed. Would highly recommend!

So it’s been four years since I first tried this place. And I still love them and their pumpkin spice cupcake!
I have a tradition that I go to salmon days every year and stop here and get a delicious cupcake!
Every cupcake has been yummy. The cake moist and flavorful. With the frosting just being the right amount. Their frosting is a bit sweeter then most. And it stays on the cupcake (no sticky fingers).
The staff is super sweet and helpful. Handing me lots of napkins to go with my daughters cupcake! Which I ended up not needing, my daughter devoured her strawberry frosted vanilla cupcake and wasted none!
I will say that by far their pumpkin spice cake is my all time favorite! The cake is super rich with pumpkin flavor!!! Perfect for fall!
And they had 6 flavor options which I think is pretty decent for such a small shop. Some flavors only had one left. So I would say if picky about flavors try to get there early!
