Seaside Inn

BLACK MOLD! I hate bashing businesses on the internet but this was BAD. We had to stay at this hotel for a few days. Once we got there we saw how TINY and NASTY the room was but couldn’t make other arrangements. There was BLACK MOLD on the AC vent so we had to sleep with the window open. There’s NO VENTILATION. Take one shower and your room is a jungle for the rest of your stay, unless you prop the door open and babysit your room. The doors STICK!!! Thank God there wasn’t a fire! The room smelled of old people and dusty books and there was a thick layer of dust on the blinds. Breakfast always ran out 2 hours early. The towels were old and worn out, the shower curtain was all torn up, there was more MOLD in the shower and the bathroom vent fan was broken and dirty. The toilet kept running, every time you turn on a fan or a blow drier the bathroom exhaust strains and the TV gets grainy which is a sign of bad wiring. I’m shocked that this place hasn’t gone up in flames. Housekeeping came and only made 1 of the 2 beds on only 1 day out of 4. The only good part? Being directly ON the beach and the staff is ok. Don’t stay here. Book a nice hotel and drive to the beach. Ps. I Have photos to prove my accusations.

I think this review would be much different if I didn’t pay $ 300+ for one night in something that I would consider to be more of a motel (don’t go mid-​July on a weekend!). If you can get a good price for this, go for it. It’s right on the beach and convenient to most places. It’s definitely more motel-​ish than I would have expected though. The bathroom was upgraded, but still super small (old and kind of worn-​in) feeling. There were two double beds that were transported from the 1980s/​early 90’s into present-​day, and I felt like I needed to wear flip flops on the carpeted ground. It’s ok though. I would go back if I didn’t have to pay that kind of money for it and didn’t have anywhere else in that area to stay for a night (I assume this will happen)!

I have no choice but to give a star. This hotel charged my Credit Card when I did not even stay here. The Manager is flaky with a lack of desire to contact me regarding these charges. Thank goodness I caught it the very day it went thru. What kind of scam is this place running? DO NOT STAY HERE!

How this place has even three stars, I will never understand. Just left after checking in. No way we were staying in a room with dirty sheets and filthy walls. The only good this g we can say is that the desk person didn’t hesitate to refund our weeks rental after seeing the photos I took of the beds. IMHO the health dept should look into this dump.

We stayed at Isle of Palms as a change from the crazy Myrtle Beach for a weekend trip with our family. We picked this place primarily for its location. They’d just finish a big renovation. But the place still looks run down like beach hotels usually do at the end of the season. Overlooking that and the noisy air-​conditioning unit, the room had an overpowering, horrible musty smell. We switched rooms in the other room had the same problem. We just dealt with it for the night, turning off the air conditioner made it a little better — but it was so much worse turning it on again in the am. If it wasn’t for the odor we would stay here again not expecting much, otherwise stay very far away.

The best part about this hotel or motel was the location. Everything else was mediocre. The website says the rooms are renovated which is partially true, our room was about 75% renovated. The breakfast was not great, I went for an Apple and the apples they had looked sickly. Although they did have fruit punch and I did like that. The staff seemed friendly enough. I had a complaint the manager acted like he didn’t really want to help me but he did give me something for my inconvenience. The room was tiny! It is probably suitable for two adults, but not a family of 3 (like us). The door to the room was lopsided, it kept getting stuck. The pool is more of a Jacuzzi size, it’s very small. Will not stay here again. Like I said it wasn’t great but it wasn’t the worst it could be. The seaside inn is definitely not about details.

I don’t have much good to say. We booked a queen room, got here and they overbooked so made us go to a double full size room. When you open the door it hits the bedframe! The wallpaper is peeling off, door frames are rusted, and our door lock is about to fall off. The only compensation given by the hotel was free parking ($ 15)
The room is clean and it is right on the beach.
parking is a joke! There are maybe 4 spots under the hotel the rest are across 2 streets in a gravel parking lot.

Stayed here for the weekend of Sol Slam, a great two day music festival right next door at The Windjammer. Seaside Inn was one of the sponsors and offered a special festival rate. No brainer booking a room there when you know you are going to be up late watching live music and drinking some Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka.
No complaints with the room, it had a nice big walk in shower, plenty of towels and a comfy enough bed with three pillows, so somebody/​not me, got stuck with one pillow…
They had breakfast in the lobby, cereal, grits, toast, juice and coffee but we walked to The Sea Biscuit for a more substantial breakfast.
Staff was super friendly, from the desk clerk who played in one of the bands we saw (Fowlers Mustache) to the nice ladies cleaning rooms.
We’ll stay there again next year when we go to Sol Slam.

Stayed here for our one year wedding anniversary. Beware the parking signs pointing you under the building! If you don’t find a spot, there is no way out other than to backup the entire length of the building. Once we found a spot, the wait to check into our room took forever. We were then directed to park across the street. When we got into the room, the cleaning staff was still there. The sliding glass door was so foggy, you couldn’t see out of it to see the beautiful ocean. The balcony is shared with everyone on the floor so keeping the glass door open to enjoy the sound of the waves is a little risky. We took the risk, no problems, but it still took away from the romance a little bit. Overall, it wasn’t the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in but I would be hard pressed to recommend this place to anyone. I will say, the reason for the five stars is the view from our room. Beautiful. We also were able to walk to dinner, have a few too many drinks, and walk back.

Total Dump! Musty, damp, dirty, narsty place. Several of us came down for a wedding in Charleston — we all had different rooms and everyone had the same opinion. Bathrooms were moldy, carpet was gross and our clothes were damp from the humidity. I do not recommend this place at all. Seaside Inn, spend some money and upgrade. Its time!

We stayed for 3 nights including Christmas, very happy with facilities and service.

If you’re on a budget and want to be right on the beach, this is the perfect place! The rooms are a bit small, but my 2 kids and I fit fine for the short time we spent in the room. The rooms were clean and had been updated. Breakfast was included. Most of the parking is across the street, which didn’t bother us.

Room was clean but tiny. One bed was against the wall, so I had to slide down the bed to get out. Noise from the bar next door was pretty bad at night. It was a decent place for being right on the beach, but definitely not for someone looking for a nicer hotel. Wish there were more places to eat on the island. Staff didn’t tell us we needed a late check-​in, so we were taken out of the system. Overall ok experience.

I was wavering between a 3 and a 4 and I decided to round up.
My stay at the Seaside in was pleasant. It was right on the beach, right next to my destination (the Windjammer). The staff were super friendly, beds were comfy and the shower and A/​C were great. My room was clean (minus one bug that found its way into my bed).
I had a non-​ocean-​view room and it didn’t matter one bit… the weather was perfect so who’d want to sit inside and look out? Breakfast was so/​so (cold cereal, cold bagels, juice), but it served its purpose.
Drawbacks: The room was TINY, the beds are dangerous (both my friend and I hurt ourselves on the sharp corners), and the price was HIGH (about $ 470 for 2 nights in late August for a non-​view room). The room was on the first floor and since all patrons had to walk by to get to the entrance, privacy was an issue.
The hotel options on the IOP were very limited, but for a short stay, I definitely think the Seaside met my needs and expectations.

Normally we stay at the Wild Dunes Resort but they were booked so we stayed at the Seaside Inn. We enjoyed our stay at the Seaside Inn. The rooms although small are nicely appointed and staff super friendly. The Continental breakfast was good in the AM — just cereal, bagels, juices, coffee and the like. It is right on the beach which is nice. Parking is in the lot not directly across the street but across the street and over. Some people may be disappointed by this motel but we were happy with our stay. It is not a hotel or a resort… think a nice beach motel that can be found anywhere up and down the Eastern coastline. There were two huge Palmetto bugs in our room but there were bugs at the Boardwalk Inn at Wild Dunes Resort too. I lived in FL so these did not bother us but people not use to it might be upset. If you are traveling adults or traveling with small children, you would probably prefer the Wild Dunes Resort. Families with children ages 6 yo and up would probably enjoy the Seaside Inn over the Wild Dunes. A lot of the activities at Wild Dunes such as dolphin cruises or blue crabbing excursions can be booked at the Marina. I think the waves for boogie boarding and surfing were better at the Seaside Inn than at Wild Dunes. I would recommend the Seaside Inn and would stay again since it is budget friendly.
