Our restaurant is family owned, and I have been in the business for over 15 years. We took over management in January of 2011 at Smugglers Cove and are bringing out its full potential. We treat everyone like a big family here, we all get along and have a great time. Life is all about having fun and enjoying it and since work is a part of life why not bring that here too!

We stayed in this hotel on 5⁄5 for one night and we were very disappointed we stayed here.
The hotel or what looks more like a cheap motel is way over priced. The rooms might be OK for an $ 80 a night, but they charged us double that price: $ 160.
We had a really bad experience here, my wife left behind her new favorite bra behind and when we called right after we checked out, they told us they had it. We tried to arrange for somebody to pick it up a few days later. When we called again a week later to pick it up, they told us they lost it and that they were not responsible for items left behind.

Place is a complete dump… save your 223 dollars a night for the house boat… no running water, toilet seat was not screwed on, sliding glass door which was the only entrance had no lock, ants crawling all over the place on the beds and futon, futon was filled with crumps, trash in bathroom didn’t even have a trash bag, 1 window had no blinds and the other window had half a blind… unless you like to stay in a filthy place stay clear from here… called to complain to Becky the «manager» and she can’t give me a partial refund because I didn’t go earlier, mind you front desk closes at 8pm… we checked in around 5pm, left to get something to eat and by the time we got back and settled in, was when we uncovered all of this… place was just purely disgusting please save your money and go else where… and after complaining to the «manager» Becky she rudely hung up on me… maybe she is someone who thinks this roach infested motel is to her standards, however it certainly isn’t to mines…

This place was overall decent. When we went to check in they took forever, which they blamed their system. Once they found a room for us they couldn’t find the key to our room. They switched our room after spending approx. 30 mins in the office. Our room was decent. We all brought our own towels from home because it was suggested in a review so we didn’t take any chances. The best part of this place was the outside area & the fact that we got to dock the boat in front of our room in visible sight. Would return in the future.

Stopped on the way down to Key West for lunch and a few beers. Our bartender was really friendly and introduced us to the local beers. Very much appreciated and I’m officially hooked on Islamorada Beer Company! Large portions of food. We’ll definitely stop back on our way back to Miami!

This is a review of the hotel only, and a case where there is the need for a ½ star in Unilocal.Would have given 3 stars but went with 4 because this was a good value for the room, considering other prices in the area.
Well maintained and basic room, 2 beds, mini-​fridge, micro and coffee pot. Coffee was in the room but just the plain, flavorless kind; not good unless you are really hard up for coffee.
Marina view. Restaurant and bar on site, can’t comment on either.

One star is a bit generous considering my overall experience at Smuggler’s cove. Not an honest person in the entire place, not to mention the drug abuse conducted on premises. Does not feel safe, and has a threatening atmosphere. Food at the restaurant is bland and over priced. Terri, the bartender, is the best thing going, heavy handed pourer. Although still considerably over priced. They also do not charge everyone the same price. Dirty bathrooms and bar area, don’t even bother.

My family and I stayed here for a night before heading down to Grassy Key. It was a fun place but fun for one night. I would not recommend staying here for an entire vacation. Our room was spacious and clean but for $ 300/​night I had higher expectations of the attention to detail in the room– for example, some of the paint was chipping.
The bar here has good drinks and they are friendly. I am giving this review 3 stars instead of 2 stars due to the fact that the food was excellent and everyone in our family enjoyed it. The fish tacos were especially a hit.
We won’t be back but all in all, we had a fine time.

This place blows. If I could give zero stars, I would! Never have I seen such a joke of customer service before. Super rude and unattentive bartenders, smoking cigarettes behind the bar and doing anything but serving the 8 people sitting waiting to be served. What a joke! The place smells like shit too. Dirty. When we finally flagged our bartender down, after we had empty drinks for too long she cut us off and rudely says «I’m leaving, so you need to close out. You can get whatever you need from someone else.» We ask the new chick, who is also rude if we could please have some drinks. Her response is, «you got cash out?» Are you kidding me? This is why your bar is dead. Learn how to work! Avoid this place at all costs.

The place sucked. We spent $ 212 for one night and stayed in room #12. We have NEVER in our lives so quickly checked out at 10am just to get out of there. There was no beach, pool, or lobby. It is basically a semi-​abandoned building that employs carnies.
Some reasons not to stay there:
–bathroom tiles were chipped and dirty
–no central AC, only a wall unit
–shower had mold growing
–bathroom is extremely hot due to no AC and no curtains
–rooms are tiny
–our door could barely open or close
Some positives:
–sheets were visibly clean
–there was a microwave and refrigerator in the room

Hey stopped in on a whime on our way down to Key West and you were booked up. Called on our way back was promised a room thanks Rochelle for hooking us up. Enjoyed our stay. Juanita was our bartender and she talked us into eating there. No regrets everything thing she recommended was fantastic. She made us feel right at home. Very attentive bartender with a lot of knowledge of the area. Between Juanita and Rochelle making our stay so enjoyable we will be back to see there smiling faces.

I would stick with the 4 stars the other posters are issuing. The food was good at lunch, but nothing that left me dying to come back. Service was alright and the setting was laid back. Not so kid friendly. More of a bat atmosphere. We could use a high chair but all the tables are bar height so she was well below us. Cool view of the draw bridge! Their salsa was delicious!

The service was amazing: Teri rocks and helped us plan our entire week vacation in Islamorada! Unfortunately, they were out of everything we tried to order, so landed on tuna poke and chips with mango salsa. Food was great, I just wish they would have had what I wanted in stock.

Dolphin Appetizer tasted like it wasn’t fresh which was unfortunate because I really wanted a dolphin sandwich so instead I went with a YellowTail Snapper Sandwich that was tasty. Also they had 2 – 1 happy hour which is very good. Also the bottle beers are ice cold.

We went to Smugglers on a tip from a local that there would be a great jazz band playing that night and boy did it not disappoint.
Our server/​bartender Teri was fantastic. The best we had on our trip by far!
We ordered the tuna appetizer and it was delicious! We went back the next day to get it again but they were out of tuna and out server (not as good as Teri) recommended the conch fritters which we thought were just okay.
Great view from the bar as you can watch the boats roll in with their daily catch!
Overall, we enjoyed our time and will try to come back for that tuna again!

This place receives only one star and that’s for our waiter who was very attentive. I have seen this place packed before, we spend a lot of time in the keys. So I was beyond disappointed. We spent the day on the boat and we were starving so we decided to stop. I honestly don’t know where to begin. We ordered the salsa. It was water, literally a bowl of liquid. Then fish tacos, they smelled. The burger and fries we by far the most disgusting thing i have ever seen. It’s like the plate was frozen and then warmed in the microwave.
After all the beer was good. Thank god because it was from tap. I couldn’t believe how bad it was I called over the waiter and let them know how terrible it was. No restaurant should ever produce food like that or receive a bad review. But this place just had a redo with new management. So I’m baffled.

I recently stopped here for lunch and I was very impressed! The fish tacos were AMAZING, the service was great and the view can’t be beat. It is immediately evident that the management is focused on having a friendly staff. Additionally, the ingredients were extremely fresh
If you are looking for high end-​style food without the high end prices or stuffy atmosphere, this place can’t be beat. My one complaint (if you can even call it a complaint) is that there were blatantly too many servers working. At one point there were more servers than guests. In my experience, over staffing can lead to bigger issues than understaffing.

Wo auf der Welt kann man sonst so schön auf dem Bootssteg sitzen, einen Cocktail schlürfen, dazu einen Snack genießen und auch noch der Livemusik der Band lauschen? Da fällt mir nur Smuggler’s Cove auf der Islamorada ein. Einfach unvergesslich !!!
