Went to Marker 88 at the recommendation of a buddy of mine. Arrived around 8pm and parking was easy in their spacious lot. We walked up to the hostess stand and were greeted by a polite young lady that asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We opted for outside since the air was cool and a nice breeze out of the north. We bounced around a few tables trying to find the perfect one for us. Seated right next to the water with the perfect balance of light to provide dim lighting and a little ambience we were set. While waiting for someone to take a drink order I glanced around and noticed the place was half empty. Finally a waitress pops over to take our drink orders, my wife a white zin to which she replies«I don’t think we have that» to which I took she had no clue because you just dropped off a 4 page wine listing as thick as an old Sears catalog. For me, a Miller light in a frosted mug. This is where the first signs of trouble set in. She disappeared for 20 minutes and meanwhile other guests arrived and got drink orders before us. One waitress sensed my frustration and offered assistance nut to no avail, she said she already rang your order so in other words we were stuck with her. There were 3 waitresses handling 5 tables and only ours seemed to struggle to keep up. For the next 20 minutes we reminisced about our mini vacation to the Keys and how relaxing and enjoying it had been. Finally our drinks arrived and we got to put our orders in. For wifey, a Mahi Ceasar salad and for me the Admirals platter which was grilled lobster, shrimp and Mahi served with mash potatoes and I added a small Ceasar salad. Yep, I was starving since I biked 12 miles earlier and didn’t have lunch. My salad came out pretty quickly and looked and tasted great. Shortly thereafter the entrees came out. Wifey loved her salad, said it was exactly what she wanted and delicious. My seafood platter was also appealing and quite tasty. The 2 stars again came from poor service. As a standard practice, I always tip a minimum of 20%, you have to really go out of your way to earn much less. When I get great service the tip goes to 25 or 30%. She finished her night with continued slow right up to the point of handling our check. I’ll leave it to your imagination what she got for a tip as a sign of my total dissatisfaction. I will be back because the setting was beautiful and the food was great.

We just walked out! Worst server in the world. Stopped here on our way to the keys. Server was a complete ding dong. Brought us wrong app, table behind us got their food before us after ordering after us, waited 25 minutes for our iced tea… insane! Just got up and left to end the frustration.

Food was good but service was very slow. Not very attentive at all but the sunset view made up for all of it. The crab cake app was delicious.

Marker 88 has a beautiful location but the food was not nearly impressive enough to justify the high prices. I guess they are charging extra for the view. It is a nice place to hang out and there is a nice outdoor bar. The menu choices they’ve taken your average local choices of seafood and added extensive preparation and sauces, then marked up the prices 30%. Our meal was good but you can get similar elsewhere for much less. For us, it just didn’t meet up to the expectation or price. I’ll skip Marker 88 except to stop for a drink and sunset.

Great food and atmosphere. Mahi tuna sandwich with sweet potato fries, tender, juicy and blackened. Took off a star for so-so key lime pie. Just back from Key West and the Two Friends café slice I had was much better. This one lacked tang!

Outside sunset and bar area are perfect for a date night. Best food in the Keys and the best cracked conch I’ve ever tasted. Thanks for being the best date night place!

LOVEIT! We spent a week in Islamorada recently and visited several restaurants. Marker 88 was HANDSDOWN the best! Best food, wine list, service, and sunset view. Will absolutely go back on our next visit.

Wy wife and I went there Saturday, March 1, 2014 for an outdoor cocktail and a sunset. We arrived and it was not crowded. However, about 15 yards from the outside bar was a large charter bus/motor home with its diesel engine running spewing noise and fumes. Went to bar to order and ask them to turn the bus off. After 5 minutes with no service we left. If you see a bus there, drive on!

If the sunset doesn’t wow you, the food and service will. My wife and I(celebrating our 20th) call this a «happy» accident. We drove in at about 4pm with the intention of having a quick drink and a nosh. Being so impressed with the service AND the food, we made the choice to stay put, watch the magnificent sunset, and enjoy what we can only describe as simply THE best meal we’ve ever had in the Keys. Worth every penny… but be sure to arrive early… the prime sunset seating goes fast. Marker 88 is a now a must stop for us on every future visit to the Keys. Thanks guys for making our 20th anniversary even more special! Be back soon…

We had a pre– wedding party at Marker 88 and it was a great time! The food was too good and we ran out! The staff and service was fantastic. The person in charge was knowledgeable, polite, and very responsive to our needs. The food was brought on time and freshly prepared, extremely tasty! I loved the mini beef Wellingtons. The local dishes were great and the conch fritters were a favorite as were the mini key lime pies. They even decorated the tables for us! The down side was something out of their control… it was a bit hot and muggy, so surprising for the Florida Keys in June. When we asked to set aside a table in the AC inside, for our elderly guests to get relief from the heat, they gave us one of their best tables inside. They gave a corner that we could have fun and even had a slide show despite the many other guests in the outdoor restaurant area. It was a great time and the staff made it memorable for all of us. I can’t wait to go back and have dinner there our next visit to Islamorada.
