Shalimar Halal Meat & Grocery

This meat market is terrible. I came here with my family member this past July when I summered in New Jersey.
We only came here once and never came back. My family member was in a hurry, and she needed meat right away and so she stopped here. Boy do we regret that!
This place is terrible! It is a pigsty, I am surprised they don’t get shut down by a sanitation commission. There were cobwebs on the wall, there were cracks and holes in the floor, the shelves were disorganized and messy. Worst of all was the terrible smell. The place smelled like rotting meat, or dry animals blood.
I told my family member not to come back here.
I don’t recommend this place at all for meat. This place is filthy and it is not fit for buying meat!

Good pricing and awesome location near oak tree road. Best part it’s found across the free public parking! I would get my hands full with groceries and wouldn’t worry much cause the truck was gonna be close! They have there own parking also. The staff is a bit under-​knowledged, I usually double check there pricing with individual packing vs bulk packaging. strangely the bulk is more?! I thought it would be the other way around. The halal meat prices are good and they are well staffed with a few cutters to cut your meat the way you want it! They have a lot of options. Lamb, goat, beef, chicken. They got it all!

I hate the staff here! They are rude, make the same mistakes constantly and then no acceptance of mistake or apology.
1– My husband works 18 hour shifts everyday and we order our meat from here and get it after a thirty five minute drive to the place on a day he gets off. They have us meat cubes wrong the first time by not dividing them in one pound bags but we let it go because maybe they forgot our instructions
2– Twice they sent us the wrong chicken order and the next day we had to drive all the way to Edison just to return it. They first talk to us on the phone and say ‘You have to come today! Or else we don’t exchange it.’ Fine, we respect the rules but we go there and no manners to be polite. They don’t even realize that it is a difficult trip
3– The second time they make the mistake I call the same day and they checked that I had made them write ‘cubes’ but they gave me mince. First the cashier is like on the phone ‘We gave what is written’, then when he checked his mistake he goes ‘oh yeah’. I said I am coming the next day and when my husband went they say ‘We thought you are only coming to return the meat’. My husband had to stand for 40 minutes for them to exchange, he provided his receipt and everything. Not even once did they apologize or admit their fault.
I hope someone else makes a halal meat store because these rude people least care of their customers and because they are making money their noses are high up in pride and arrogance. I will drive somewhere farther from now to get my halal meat and chicken because I can’t stand being treated this disrespectfully when it isn’t even my fault!
I hope these rude people start having all their customers transfer elsewhere so they learn a lesson and I would avoid saying all this because I am from the same nation as Shalimar people but even though they originate from my country, I have to tell you all these people are PATHETIC!

This was our first time here and had a bad experience as they completely cheated us when we purchased goat meat from them. They insisted we said that we wanted to purchase two goat legs (over 5lbs of meat) when we had requested an additional 2lbs after already purchasing 4 lbs from them. They took advantage of the fact that I made the request and gave the money to my mother while I ran other errands. I strongly believe that this goes beyond a misunderstanding and they were being completely dishonest, further coupled by the fact that they refused to sell us only the 2lbs they asked for. Pls be careful when ordering from these guys.
