Stay away from this store at all costs! I saw a great lehenga that was a store model and we paid a hefty price for it. After months of waiting, I received a horrible knock off of the store model I once saw. This knock off was poor quality, dingy colors and did not look like the lehenga I had previously tried on. The skirt had gold strings falling off of it– that’s how bad it was. I literally had to hold back tears when I tried on this lehenga. This experience was gut wrenching after spending soo much money. Whats worse is– they said they would charge me extra to change this lehenga to make it look more like the store model. I was so upset and they provided no help at all! I also paid them 100% of the cost of the lehenga upfront (as is there policy) and felt very deceived and taken advantage of. What they are doing at their store is unethical– advertising one thing and then providing something of vast lower quality that doesn’t even look like what was previously shown.
Please go to Nazranaa instead! After my horrible experience with this store, I went to Nazranna. My experience was completely different! Shia was great from the start. After hearing about my experience she was very hands on in helping me. Once I went to her store and found my dream lehenga– she was very communicative throughout the process. She even sent me pictures of the lehenga being created in India, so if it looked different than what I had previously seen I could stop the process earlier on. She told me the model I tried on was the exact piece I would be receiving except altered to my exact size. Once the lehenga came in– it was exactly what I had tried on. There were no surprises or unexpected things in my way. She even let me pay 50% of the lehenga upfront and offered to pay me back that 50% if the lehenga was different than what I had first tried on. (Which it wasn’t!!) I loved my lehenga. It was great quality and I am now a life time customer! My family even bought outfits from her store!
Morale of the story:
Stay away from Maharani Fashions unless you want bad customer service, horrible quality and being taken advantage of. There are other great stores to go to, especially Nazranaa! When you go to Nazranaa, ask for Shia– she will give you the best customer service that you deserve!

My now husband and I wanted to thank you for all of your services during our wedding style needs. From the time I walked in to the store over a year ago, I fell in love with the quality of your collections, and more importantly the service that you provided my family and me.
Being a plus sized bride, the bridal staff was extremely helpful and understanding of what styles and bridal options would be best suited for my body type. Having the opportunity to spend over three weeks shopping in the UK for my bridal needs with no luck, the sole customer service attitude at Maharani make them stand out to the rest.
My family and I had the opportunity to order over ten outfits for my wedding needs, from my engagement party to bridal shower to henna party, to pre-​wedding festivities to our wedding day & reception within the timeline provided, often times much earlier. Throughout the process Maharani was there with me. Step by step we chose outfits to fit my personality. The pieces of art were tailored to fit perfectly. The quality of work was everything I had hoped it would be.
In addition, Ravi uncle was even able to custom make my diamond mangalsutra, designed perfectly based on the two photos of inspiration.
Lastly, both Ravi Uncle and Shashi Auntie were beyond gracious and made us feel at home.

Showed them one picture on a specific dress, they made one that looks the worst version of it! These people are gangsters who get dressed made at a quarter of the price and over charge everyone! They are so nice to you until you give them the money and then they say all sales final, they only show you a drawing of what they «will» do but once we saw the final product we didn’t want it at all, total opposite! The employees are very kind and helpful, but the owner was very disrespectful, yelling, didn’t even look at the picture once he gave us his product which was worse. Also AMERICANS BEWARE: the owner will think your stupid unless you bring someone from India with you that can not just haggle the price but knows the quality. There was an American lady who was quoted $ 1500 and saw that the work required for her dress was insanely less than what we had and we paid the same amount. The lady then was upset and the owner cut the cost by a third! Ridiculous!

I give 0 stars but forced to give it one due to Unilocal– the owners are rude and disrespectful, they’re clothes are nothing special, you can find the same anywhere else and for better prices with better service. This place needs a serious reality check and a lesson in business etiquette. I would never send someone I care about to this place let alone recommend it to anyone in general!

Stay away from this place. Outfits are nice enough, but the owners are dishonest and rude, and the prices are much, much too high. Their mark up is upwards of 200%, whereas you can find the exact same outfits in Jackson Heights for literally half the price (I speak from personal experience).
The owner is extremely rude, is only interested in making money. We had a bridal lengha made from here and tailored, although when we received it LATE, they sent us their stores’ model piece, without alterations or modifications. ONE WEEK BEFORE THE WEDDING!!! Horrid experience. Stay away.

We have been there many times! Purchased clothing for 3 different weddings. Eid celebrations. And more more events! The collections are nice and unique. Prices are reasonably high but the quality of service and material is worth it! I alway left happy dealing with the owner and her staff. all have been there for a long time and are well educated! To visit many more times!

I purchased my engagement outfit from here– they originally had the stones of a different color but as soon as I pointed it out, they were great about it and had a whole new outfit made which I thought was really good of them– 5 stars for the customer service. Also, anytime I had a question or concern, they were very helpful. It is a bit on the pricey side but you can always negotiate on the price with the owner, he’s very good about it.

The owner is very helpful and works with you to give you exactly the type of outfit you want. The outfit was designed using a combination of outfits from the store. The owner travelled to India and got the dress made exactly to our specifications. Excellent customer service!

I’m allergic to silk, which makes buying an Indian bridal outfit a bit tricky! The folks at Maharani were able to make a wedding dress for me, without silk, that looks beautiful. The dress came in on time (actually a few days early!) and it looks great!

My wedding is in August. We went to Maharani in January. We ended up purchasing all three of my wedding outfits, plus the grooms outfits, both of our father’s outfits, and jewelry. We were told that everything would be ready at the end of April. When we went there in April, we only received half of the items. All of my outfits were there, so I was able to try them on. All of the blouses needed to be fixed, so they took measurements and assured me they would fix them and send everything (including the missing items) out the following week. About 3 weeks later I finally received the package. I tried on the blouses, and they were worse than before. Nothing fit right, and it was not due to loosing weight. I ended up having to take them to a local tailor and paying an extra of $ 450. These people are unreliable and unprofessional. Do not trust them. Very disappointed.

Don’t come here if you are larger than a US size 10. I’m a US size 12. The first time I visited the store, they looked me up and down and clearly dismissed me since they had nothing in my size. I inquired what sizes they carried and they clearly stated «standard size».
The second time I visited (hoping the first time was a fluke), it was not much better. They clearly did not have anything that I could remotely try on. When looking at new styles we were told that we can customize anything however did not help us determine what work we would or would not like.
This place is basically the Abercrombie and Fitch of Indian bridal wear. They have not interest in working with someone who is a little heavier, i.e., average American size.

I was looking for readymade anarkalis and Nehru collar suits this weekend. I had a friend who recommended this store so I was disappointed to walk in and find so little that interested me. Their selection just wasn’t that great. It is clear that they have a large showroom with lots of stuff, so maybe their lehengas or saris or kurta pajamas or sherwanis are better, but I wasn’t so impressed with the anarkalis or the men’s suits. The quality was not great, and the taste was lacking. The prices were pretty high, but I’m sure they would bargain with you if you were interested in some of their stuff. I would probably stop by again if I was in the area and needed to do some Indian shopping, but I wouldn’t have high hopes of finding something awesome.

My wedding was November 3. Maharani Fashions delivered everything promised, and all my clothes were beautifully crafted and fit perfectly! I recommend anyone to go there for bridal (or anytime) Indian fashion!

The good the bad and the ugly I thought was reserved just for movie titles, however Maharani takes this to a new level. I’ll start with the good as that is the easiest and shortest aspect to comment on. The have an enormous selection. Now for the rest of the bad and ugly. The bad is the fact that they can’t stick to any dates they commit to and they always will blame you (the customer) as why there is a delay or why they delivered the incorrect item. They had the gall to tell my fiancé that she was too picky (on items they agreed on) and the reason that the lengha she was getting was too short because she had lost weight!!! I didnt realize that height was proportional to weight gain, and if anything losing weight would make things fall lower not increase in height. That was a direct quote and this was the Saturday before our wedding. We went back and forth to their store probably 10 – 15 times after we had chosen our clothes only to be disappointed time and time again with the delivery and the outcome of what they had promised. I actually got into a yelling match in the middle of the store with the owner about my frustration. At a time when more stress is the last thing you need they only contributed angst. I would not recommend them unless you have unlimited patience and no deadlines.

STAY AWAY from this place!!! I am getting married on July 15^th and I went to this place to find my bridemaid’s sarees. The first time you go there they attend to with good customer service only to get you in the door. After, they are the worst. I went to them well over a year in advance for 8 outfits, brought all my girls to get fitted and paid full in advance (DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE). After they have your money they don’t care about what you need. They were 3 weeks late with the first fitting of the sarees, the blouses were hideous and needed to be taken in, they lost 2 of my girls measurements and then tried to be nasty about it. They were not even sorry for all the trouble they caused. Their tailors suck and I had to take the saree blouse to fixed by another tailor in Queen, NY. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! Don’t waste your money here!

DO NOT GO HERE! I fell in love with a dress from here for my wedding reception, and decided to give it a shot, even though I had heard horror stories about them. I should’ve listened to those with experience about this place. The sales people are RUDE and condescending. I had initially walked in and told them my wedding was in 6 months, but I fell in love with a dress and they didn’t want me to even try it on because they didn’t think I was seriously looking to buy yet. Once we agreed to purchase, the people demanded cash on the spot. Who carries $ 2,000 cash with them!!! The final straw is that when I went to pick up the dress after they had «altered» it, there were loose strings EVERYWHERE, they didn’t fix what they were supposed to fix and tried to cover it up by using mismatched stones. It’s my wedding and I will NOT wear anything with mismatched stones. Eventually we just left the store because they were so rude. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!!

They have quite a few nice pieces and tell you B. S, about how they specifically custom make each outfit for you, because their factory is in India. We flew in form N.C. and spent over 20K for the bride, grooms, and many of the other families outfits. They told us everything would be ready in Dec, so after calling to make sure it was ready, booked out tickets and flew there. Nothing fit right, and some of the pieces were still in India! We were a little more than pissed. They said they would fix it and to come back in Jan otherwise they would mail it to us. Well we werent willing to take the chance, and after flying back in Jan, only half the stuff fit! Of course no compensation for flying in, and the added stress. Save a lot of stress and anger and go to the 30 other places in Edison/​Iselin, even if it costs a little more!

Although I got my wedding and reception dresses here for my wedding, I can understand and see how it can be one of those hit or miss type of places. If you are seriously looking for an outfit for an event, I would keep these things in mind when visiting this place:
1.) Plan to be here a while. I was here 3 hours looking at dresses, trying them on and then finally purchasing them. They have a lot of inventory to look through and it will take you a while to get through them.
2.) They don’t allow you to take pictures (as most places in Edison don’t). So don’t expect to.
3.) Make sure the sales person working with you gets a good read for your taste or find another one. I was lucky when I went and she quickly caught on to what I was looking for.
4.) Negotiate, Negotiate, Negotiate! They will start very high on the dresses. If you’re a serious buyer and really want the outfit, keep at them. We walked out of the store twice, before being called back. I’m sure we still paid a lot of the dresses, but it was better than the first quote they gave us.
5.) Have plenty of cash on hand. They may say they take credit cards, but you’ll win more favor from the owners and maybe even a better discount, by paying cash.
I’ve recommended other people go to this place and they’ve also been happy with their experience.
