Captains On Long Lake

This place mostly has it’s location going for it. Kinda of a biker bar, sorta. If I had more nice things to say I would.

My family has lived on the lake for 10 years. We have never been happy. The food is ok and the service is terrible. Once again, tonight we wanted to order food and bring it on our boat for dinner. The website did not have a menu. When I called the guy said «hello», I had to ask if it was Captains. Then he couldn’t take my order and I think he gave the phone to the cook. The cook was rude. I asked what burgers they had, he said a lot and he couldn’t list them all. And told me to hurry up. So, I decided I wasn’t going to spend my money there. We went home for dinner.

I live on the lake and frequent the bar all the time, and have had radically different experiences every time. The bar has changed hands a few times which explains the inconsistency, in addition to the fact that an event (wedding, snow mobile racing, or sports) can quickly change the bar’s demographic.
The food I would say is consistently a 3 our of 5 — if you like simple bar food you are in luck.
The wait staff has been beyond horrible over the past year, however over the past few months has been very good — I see this improving quickly.
Lastly, the men’s bathroom is still a wreck, but it appears this is finally getting fixed. In the event that this does get fixed I will change my rating, but for now I need to give it a 3 out of 5.
I really really want to give it a 4 or 5, but the last few visits just haven’t gotten me there yet.

Got a Groupon. Ate a burger. Waitress didn’t like my tip so she added $ 10 to my otherwise generous tip. Over 3 months called twice to straighten it out. Was told both times they would call me back.
Since I gave them the benefit of the doubt all the way I did not file a complaint with my credit card company.
Thieving employees. I don’t care about $ 10 but when they show up to the table with 1 copy of the receipt that says «customer copy» and don’t even give you the «store copy» original that was meant to be filled out by me, you have to become suspicious.
Since the pre-​discounted tip of 25% was not enough, I will never go back here and will tell anyone who will listen that an extra pack of cigarettes was worth more to a crooked waitress than a damning review of her bosses restaurant.
I will never go back. Neither will my children, and hopefully someday neither will my children’s children.

Ugh.
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat while wandering thru the neighborhood. Service was initially absent, and then just absent-​minded. They have a huge patio, but appear to only have a large enough kitchen to serve a third of it. It took an hour and half for some burned cheese curds to arrive at the same time as our BLT/​tots and burger/​sweet potato fries. The tots and fries were undercooked, the blt was limp, though my burger was decent.
The atmosphere was explained by the first song the karaōke dj played (at 8pm on a Thursday, no less) — ‘Hillbilly Deluxe’. Lifted trucks, lots of biker /​pirate costumes, including one lady with an American flag tank and bandana paired with a comical leather vest/​boot situation. Some pencildick did a huge burnout in the parking lot on his open – piped Harley when he left. That ended all conversation for a minute or two. If that’s your kind of crowd, then go for it. I prefer to eat without the odor of molten rubber.
Slow service, marginal food, management that doesn’t bother to dial back their loud, inconsiderate patrons. I’ll pass.

Not impressed. The mothers day buffet was mostly empty. What they had was cold. The wait staff was good.
