recycle!!!

Texans don’t seem to care much about recycling, in fact I often think we go out of our way NOT to recycle, but Irving makes it easy. In Georgia, I have to take my recycling to 3 different places to get it all done– paper at work, aluminum & plastic a local spot, cardboard & glass at (of all places) an Ikea. The full service drop off centers in Irving handle everything, plastics 1 – 7, aluminum & steel cans, glass of all different colors, papers, magazines, cardboard, plastics bags, old clothes, electronics — the whole 9 yards.
The attendant is there during the day everyday except Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She’ll help you sort items and keep the piles under control. After hours you can dump paper and glass products, but everything should wait until someone’s around, if only to make the attendant’s life easier. Also, they’ll tell you that they can’t take plastic bottles with caps on them, so ditch them before you throw things in your recycle bin (this is evidently true of most all recycling centers, those caps are useless).
Since using this place, I’ve really upped the kinds of thing I recycle, and gone a long way to reducing my trips to the trash bin. I’m not sure if there’s anything comparable in Dallas. Anyone know?
