Hawaiian Nail Bar

I went to Hawaiian Nail Bar because it was nearby and I wanted to try NexGen and I heard they did it here. They did have a very large color selection. It was my first time getting NexGen, and I didn’t know what to expect. The technician told me to «relax» my hand at least 15 times, even though I told her it was as relaxed as it could go. I will say I enjoyed the way it came out and it lasted me four weeks, and probably would have lasted longer if I hadn’t of picked at it out of boredom towards the end. But the technician sanded my nails so hard and ripped a piece of skin off. I was bleeding a lot and she never said a word. I didn’t know if it was usual for my nail beds to hurt and be scratched after I got it done, so I didn’t say anything. Now that I have gotten it done somewhere else and had a MUCH better experience, I will not be back here.

You always take a chance when going into a nail salon. After investing so much time in the chair, you want to ensure it wasn’t time lost. With that being said, I feel like I may have lost some time here… That I’ll never get back…
Went in with my girlfriend for mani/​pedi. While I can appreciate the sterile environment… Plastic bags in the pedi bowl, new sterile tools being used for mani/​pedi… The water was lukewarm at best and the jets must have been broken or nonexistent. The «massage chair» was barely even a nudge. I think I’d compare it to being in line and having someone behind you who needs to get by but doesn’t want to startle or disturb you. They gently tap you on the back or shoulder and you aren’t sure if you felt something or not… Is it your imagination? Yea that’s what the chair was like.
The individuals working on our pedis had no bowl-​side manner as they went about working and pulling/​pushing our feet and legs around. There were no smiles or pleasantries throughout the whole process. We each chose a specialty pedi and while they sounded good on paper, they didn’t amount to much.
The gentleman working on my mani was nice and energetic. He suggested the dip/​powder and I took his advice. While the finished product was nice enough, I had to ask him to shape and file my nails twice. The whole… One of these things is not like the other… Nothing worse than having nails that are all different lengths.
Lastly, we were told to wait thirty minutes before putting our shoes on — in what world does it take thirty minutes for a pedi to dry? I went the extra mile and waited forty-​five minutes before donning my footwear and STILL when I removed my shoes the polish was askew on all toes. I would imagine this comes from watering down your product which is a foul. Two disappointed thumbs down…

Not the friendliest service, not the best prices, nor the best quality nail place in the area, but they always seem to be open when other places nearby are not, so I keep coming back. They do usually offer you a drink while getting your service. its not that good, but I appreciate the effort.

I used to come here when I lived in Las
Colinas, back when they were new and everyone would go here. Now they have moved over to a smaller location that does not seem to be doing well. And I see why. Since the last couple years, the service just keeps getting worse each time I return. But it was so close to my parents, I’d go back. this was the last time I ever do.
In the past I’ve had problems from my cuticles nipped too short that they bleed to bad pedicure massage experience to terrible customer service.
I had heard and read bad reviews recently also. I stopped going because I’ve found several better spots that are 10x better.
I went in last weekend on a Friday evening; there were only 2 people total that came in within the hour I was there and at one point I was the only one.
Typically I get gel nails but this time they weren’t long enough and I wanted something different for NYE so I decided on a full set, claws. How hard can that be?
I’m sure we all know that these nail salons try to up sell but it gets really old really fast when they are constantly trying to change your mind to something more than what you want. The man that did my nails (wish I had gotten his name) couldn’t even shape my nails to look like they were done professionally. But he kept insisting I do gel or powder on acrylic. I had to say NO about 5 – 6 times before he stopped. At this point he’s starting to get upset. I asked him to fix one nail because it wasn’t well rounded and to my liking, and he threw a fit.
After that, it was all bad. He suggested if I don’t like it I can take them all off. Worst customer service ever! Instead of trying to fix my nail, he got upset and basically told me to go elsewhere. I was pretty pissed because I wasted my time and nothing else was open at this point. Because I didn’t have much of a choice– I ended up wasting my money also just to get the most unprofessional, ugly set I’ve ever gotten.
Wish I was able to give 0 stars. It’s bad when they are unprofessional at their work and lack customer service skills.

service was fine.
the lady that did my nails was nice but didnt pay much attention to me when doing my nails — she was too busy talking with other coworkers.
i got my nails done (nexgen) on 1218 and came back today (1228) so its been about 10days because it chipped off already — store manager says sorry cant fix it because its over a week. i told her i wont come back and manager just shrugs it off. great customer service you have (if you cant tell my sarcasim) wtf seriously???
wont be coming back here.

Service and quality are inconsistent at best, and prices are HIGH. I was happy with the mani pedi the first time I came in, which was around 11 am on a Tuesday. After I got a job, though, I found that after 5 no one is on who can do the job or gives a. ..

Rude. Impatient. Worst Manicure I’ve ever gotten and way overpriced.
My nails look worse than when I came in. Looks like I’ve been chewing on my fingers like a wolverine.

Seriously this place is a crap shoot. Toes? Beautiful. Hands? Hot mess and not in a good way.
Hawaiian Nail Bar in Irving is like that horrible ex-​boyfriend you keep allowing to hang around. Sometimes the reminiscing is great and you feel awesome; then other times you’re reminded why you shouldn’t ever be together. Today was the latter.
I gave two stars because the technician «Mary» who did my pedicure was fine. Granted I asked for an herbal pedicure but I got the strawberry lime — either way it’s the same difference as they both reference food and they’re the same price. There was a serious language barrier so I just let it be.
«Yen» did the manicure. Awful. What’s another word for awful because it was that? Her disposition was the love child of indifference and regret of occupational choice. I’m fortunate I don’t have to deal with the general public for my profession. However, there was a time I did and even I know compensation can be dependent upon at least feigning a friendly attitude. After I pointed out there was still remnants of cuticle tissue and sediment from the buffer showing underneath a layer of polish the quality went down hill real fast.
She insisted a second layer would cover it all. How she came to that I don’t know. The polish job is awful. She kept trying to paint layer after layer to cover up the mistake of not properly preparing the nail bed to be smooth. Then she would literally scrape off the wet polish with her fingernail and start over. Finally she gives up and scrubs it off with a dry towel and can’t figure out why it isn’t coming off cleanly. Then she gets acetone and scrapes and scrapes and scrubs. I had to ask her to just leave it alone and accept the less than mediocre results. My skin is raw, it’s completely dried out from the acetone and stained from all the polish she scraped off my nail and onto my finger.
The pictures speak for themselves. Thank goodness I have an extra day before the holiday to fix these things before I leave town.

customer service is horrible! My husband purchased me a gift card from the Southlake location and because I work over in Irving, I thought I’d use it at this location (which is on the gift card as a valid spot to use it). I handed the lady my gift card after my service was over and they said it shows $ 0, which is impossible because I haven’t used it yet. They said their manager wasn’t available and that I needed to pay cash. I called Southlake and explained the situation to the manager. He said that they should have taken the gift card because they’re the same owner. He actually cared about the customer unlike the store in Irving that clearly only cares about getting paid. I will not be returning to the Irving location.

I just tried to get pedi. This is supposed to be a soothing, relaxing experience.
First they turn on football, loudly. I’m led to a chair, start to soak my feet. Then my person came and put her kit down, left and went to the back, came back and removed the nail polish from one foot while talking on the phone, left, exchanged some money with someone, chatted with a co-​worker while he was working, removed the polish from my other foot while talking on the phone, left and went outside. After a few minutes I decided to leave, and I started to put my sandals on. The girl rushed back to tell me she was getting something for her friend waiting outside and since he drove here she couldn’t leave him waiting for her.
I left anyway. Honestly, if she had explained or excused herself I could deal with it, but she just kept leaving. I didn’t even feel like going somewhere else after that.
Awful experience. They are always busy and usually have something irritating on TV but I had other things to do in the area so I tried again … for the last time.

This is for the Irving location. I’m new to the area and get a gel mani/​pedi every other week. I loved this place at first because they do both services at the same time so you’re not there forever and pricing wasn’t terrible. However I have noticed that the quality of service has decreased significantly with each visit.
Kelly is the good for manis — I haven’t experienced a good pedicure here though. They don’t cut/​shape the nails properly so when they grow in, they’re sharp. This last time I received a gel mani, which Chi did. Two of my nails chipped by the next day. So I went back and had her fix them. Here we are the next day and the polish on my thumb has chipped… again. Not to mention I have polish all over my surrounding skin and cuticle, on more than one finger. I’m not going back to have it fixed.
I don’t know who did my pedicure this last time, but the next day, the polish rubbed off both of my big toes. Granted, this is likely from my work shoes, which I wear regularly, but this has never ever happened before. Also my nails are all uneven.
I can’t stand looking at the «quality» of both my gel mani and pedi so I will be going somewhere else this weekend (after just getting this done a few days ago) to have it all changed. Obviously, I won’t be returning to this business for any service, and do not recommend it at all. I only gave it two stars (instead of 1) because I like Kelly and everyone there is generally very nice, they offer various drinks (which I’ve never had), and it’s a cool atmosphere. That’s all I can say though.

I went in for a mani. I’m a barista, so I’m constantly washing my hands or they are in water throughout the day. They suggested i get the nextgen powder. This would be my first one, and I was super excited. I got it, nail chipped after a week (which is still fantastic for me bc gel chips in two days and regular polish, HA! Never has a chance) I went in the next day after the god awful chip to get it fixed, it was free! Kelly is awesome and she does a good job. She even filed the rest down so they would last longer. They lasted a total of 2 weeks! I’m sure if I wasn’t so rough and didn’t have my hands submerged in water so much they would last much longer. I will definitely be back (just not often $ 40 is steep)
Décor is cute, complimentary wine is always a PLUS! Clean business!

I used to love this place!
The employees were nice and friendly.
But these past few months it hasn’t been what it used to be.
The employees are there anymore to make the clients happy, they seem to just want to take our money. Every time I walk in, the place is a mess the employees don’t even say a word when you walk in. They look at each other to see who is the next to help.
Also lately every time I have gone in they give me a different and higher price for the same nails I had gotten 2 weeks prior.
Don’t let Sheryl do your nails she doesn’t know what she’s doing. And if you do go before you sit down make sure you ask them how much it will be or else they will try to charge you a lot more than what it really is !

I came here once before and they did a a pretty good job. The second time I came for a fill and it was horrible. The nail tech was rude because I asked her to do one thing, she then insisted on not doing it. She then continued to talk about me and rushed me out the door when my nails weren’t even dry. I won’t come back here again.

Irving location:
Overall I will give it a 4 because 95% of the time my experience is good. I also find someone good and stick with them and have learned not to just let the next available tech do my nails.
My bad visits had my cuticles looking terrible or my polish looking messy. I think there’s still 1 or 2 people that were bad that still work there. I always get them redone and ask for a discount on my next visit if they want me to return. So I will say that they will try to remedy.
My great visits are with Tracy (Ben’s wife). Both Ben and Tracy are really good.
A long time ago Chi Chi did my nails and I was truly sad that she apparently went back to her home and didn’t come back to the US.
So anyway, be selective when you go. When you have someone that does a good job, get their name and stick with them.

Had a similar experience to Kayla L. with how they removed the shellac from my previous manicure using a filing machine /​drill. I had asked for them to take off my old gel manicure which by then was done. It was probably 3 weeks old or so. I was ready to give my nails a break from the shellac and just do some normal nail polish to just let it be natural for while and give me a break. But when he used the drill machine on my nails, it really messed up the surface my natural nails. They looked uneven and scuffed and especially under the normal nail polish they looked bumpy and NOT smooth or natural. It was pretty awful, I was livid.
I can say it took at least 4 – 5 months for my nails to grow out again and get rid of the uneven surface. I have never gone back since that experience. Maybe it depends on the technician. I have had decent manicures there before and no one had ever used a drill to file the gel off my nails (those are for ACRYLIC /​FAKE nails, geez!) before in my LIFE and I have gotten plenty of gel manicures at many locations including this one — and all those times they used the soak /​remover /​foil to remove the old gel. Anyway, I didn’t know the technicians name, it was a man, but NEVER let them do that because it was terrible.
Otherwise I’ve had some normal gel manicure experiences at this location and otherwise would have given this place a 3 star rating. The «complementary» drinks are nothing that exciting, and the other technicians seem pretty nice but they are pretty rushed all the time and don’t always do a really quality job. For the price of $ 40 – 45 for a gel manicure /​french it is too expensive to risk getting a lousy manicure.

HORRIBLE! Monday at 2:30, walk in. Raymond sat down to do my nails but it became obvious he was much more interested in the soccer game on tv. Once he greeted me he never said another word to me. He filed the old shellac on my nails, put remover on each nail and left me. After awhile I had a creepy feeling and started looking around. Men behind me watching the game, another two males working and the women were at the end of the shop on iPads and phones.
Raymond comes back and starts scraping the old shellac off. Then when he starts to file my nails I asked if he would use the clippers to cut them. He said no he would file them. He said cutting would make them short (what I wanted) and I might not like them. I told him I wanted them short but now I don’t trust him to cut them.
This made him mad and he said maybe somebody else should work on me. He spoke to the other employees in their language and stood up. I told him I could tell he would prefer to watch the soccer game anyway. I stood up and asked how much I owed. I was told $ 5 so I put the five down and walked out.
This place put out a weird vibe and I couldn’t get out fast enough.

They deserve NO STAR — They have the Worse service EVER! I went in there to get a basic pedicure $ 25 but it was about an hour long because she kept talking to her co worker and laughing than would come back and keep going. I had to actually tell her that I had to go. So she didn’t even try to finish I had to tell her to clean up around the toes that MESSSY! nail polish that she spread. I also heard the girl next to me complain to her mom about how her nails were coming out. Also the place is very crowded chairs are too close to each other. I will never be back I have received better service and for less $ but it is not about the price it is about the work and service they gave. So far they lost a customer here.

This place I actually liked because I actually had the time to sit and enjoy! They are going to give you an few sugguestions. First they will ask if you are in a hurry because if so they will get you in and out! But if you have the time to sit and relax, then please do! I did a full set first! They have a small bar here so you can get wine or whatever they where mixing together. When I finished my first glass they had a second right there. The lady took her time because she new I was not in a hurry! My nails came out great! While they were drying she have me a small back masage! Which felt amazing! After that I then went for my pedicure! I had this mint pedicure which smelled and felt so relaxing! I enjoyed my spa day here. Its very costly! However if you are trying to get a spa relaxed not rushed time of feel, come here. I would sugguest going during there week. Not on the weekends where it will be busy! Thats to be expected of any nail place! So come ready to spend, relax, and enjoy!

Had a shitty pedicure here. Paint ended up all over my toes and cuticles, another employee tried to clean it up, but it looked awful. In the end, I had to have someone REPAINT my toes completely. For 38 $ I was NOT happy to say the least. Second paint job was better. (Ask for Raymond if you go!) But the trimming, filing, cuticle cutting was awful and now my nails are uneven.
had an «OK» shellac. Looked good when I left — chipped 3 days later & then started chipping in the center of the nail… HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE. I’m not even hard on my hands. Oh well, just a waste of 30 $. By day 5 every nail was peeling. They also use a machine to drill off previous shellac, rather than the foil & soak method which is HARMFUL for your nails. Should have ran out the door :(
