I have been looking forward to go here ever since I first noticed it driving by. When I walked in, the room was bright and open because of the abundance of windows. The décor was modern and there were outlets at each booth. They have an extensive menu. Everything I got was really good but the K-pop was the best. I did think the tortillas were kind of thin, but it was still good. They also have so many hot sauces to chose from. The staff was really friendly and helpful. It’s always good to encounter a group of employees that don’t hate their job and the fact that they are serving people. I like the music that was playing. It went with they gypsy theme. There were loud fans though that were a bit destructing, but overall I enjoyed this place.

Didn’t think this place was gonna be big but it def isn’t small. They even have a full bar and the décor is modern which is nice. I ordered the Gypsy Torta and didn’t understand why they chopped their steak into itty bits and top it with an overload of tomatoes. It was not good at all and there was barely any steak on my Torta, if you count the itty bitty bits as steak. The street corn is great! The carnitas bowl is good too and it’s a pretty good size. I will try this place again tho, always give second chances.

Honolulu Baby, K-Pop, Texas Ranger, Barbacoa Street Tacos. Honolulu Baby had very fresh tuna and the seaweed was crunchy and tasty. The K-Pop was a different take on Korean BBQ and the kimchi was delicious. Texas Ranger was straight protein with fried egg, bacon, and steak. Would recommend in the mornings. Presentation was different but nice. Prices were very reasonable considering the high quality of the food. Would recommend all these and can’t wait to try everything on the menu.

I had a massive craving for street tacos the other day when my husband remembered coming here with coworkers. It’s in an area we drive by often, but just far enough off the highway in an awkward facing strip center that it’s easy to miss. It’s surprisingly spacious inside with both booths and tables. They even have a full bar, salsa station, and multiple TVs. The booths each have their own charging outlets which I thought was a cool touch. It would be an ideal place to stop in and get work done as it was fairly quiet even during a prime dinner hour. The first thing I noticed on their menu was that they make their tortillas everyday by hand. The guacamole, pico, and all of their salsas are also scratch made, and they even butcher and trim most of their meats. The prices range from $ 4 – 6 per taco, or you can get 4 street tacos or a burrito bowl for under $ 10. They have sandwiches too between $ 10 – 13 which include fries, and all day breakfast tacos that are under $ 3 each. I like to get a combo of both veggie and meat tacos so I ordered the San Fran(fried avocado, roasted corn salsa, cilantro cream, and cilantro), the Bistec(steak with garlic and onion), and the Barbacoa(Mexican stlye brisket). The last two were street tacos and for those you get to pick what toppings you want so I went with their ‘street style’. That includes grilled onions, cilantro, pico, and limes. All of the meats had great flavor including the carnitas tacos my husband got. The pork was perfectly fried to where the outside was crisp yet the inside remained juicy. And that San Fran taco? YUM!!! Total knockout. More people need to spread the word about this place and amp up their business! The location hurts them but the food makes it worth finding. I can’t wait to soon return and try the breakfast tacos.

Gipsy Lime Taco Lounge is probably Irving’s première non-traditional taco location. The menu is huge, with street tacos featured prominently, and all of the ordering is a la carte — no combo plates to bother with. The space is modern and fun.

My fiancé and I were starving and looking for something new to try, low and behold Gypsy lime pops up on the nearby results. That is where the good news ends. The location is very confusing to get to and that’s saying something because we have lived in the apartments right next to Gypsy lime for the better part of a year now and never even saw the place right there off 635. When you walk into the building for the first time you are left wondering if you should wait to be seated or if you should just sit down or go up to where the employees are gathered. After finding the menu on the wall we put 2 and 2 together. Which leads me to the next topic. THEMENU! It sucks. Plain and simple, it just sucks. Over priced tacos even if you want just a few street tacos. I decided I’d go with a torta because I hadn’t had one since leaving California for Texas. We waited at the register for a minute or two with no employees even acknowledging us. While we waited to be helped both my fiancé and I noticed a few health code violations and decided to forgo the visit. After we both spent years working in low end to high and restaurants in Monterey, CA. We know that food safety isn’t a joke and the owner/operator better pay head to our complaints because we have contacted the city of Irving’s health inspector. We will go back in 3 months to see if the issues have been fixed. I look forward to changing my review to reflect a better experience

My Unilocal map seems increasingly Rife with boutique, branded tacquerias. Enter Gipsy Lime, a new-ish, hipster-ish, pretty good if not-too-original in the current taco landscape, taco café and bar. If Fuzzies opened the floodgates to the big concept chain, cafeteria line, custom taco movement, Torchy’s has since owned the game, in my humble opinion. I’m not much of a chain restaurant connoisseur, I prefer the single-owner, hole-in-the-wall find. But I seem to always find something new to appreciate about Torchy’s. But, this is a review of Gipsy Lime and perhaps the amount of time I’ve spent writing about other restaurants suggests how I feel about this place. The food was pretty good, the salsa choices were pretty good, and the tacos held up, if they did not surpass the quality or variety I’ve had other places. I give Gipsy Lime its highest marks for being open till midnight, which I greatly appreciated as I met my friends there after 10PM. Also the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Gypsy Lime’s most interesting offering is a selection of street tacos, four for $ 10. Two of us split four street tacos, one custom taco, and some chips and salsa. With no drinks the ticket was $ 24. The tacos were tasty, warm, and the meat flavorful, though I could easily have finished all four tacos myself and still consumed the whole chip basket. The salsa is stupid overpriced. $ 5 bought us a bottomless basket of chips and 8 oz of salsa in a paper cup. Seriously, WTH? We opted for salsa because the queso was $ 8 for the same 8 oz container. The chips are homemade and interesting in that they resembled pita chips more than tortilla chips. I enjoyed the difference for the first few bites, but soon was wishing for salty, crispy tortilla chips. A variety of taco sauces are available, including tomatillo, roasted salsa, and some others I sampled. The cups provided for the salsas are tiny, either to limit consumption or perhaps because the sauces are meant to go on the tacos and not for chip dipping. But with salsa such an overrunning commodity in most Mexican restaurants it’s hard not to feel ripped off. A creative piece of signage might have clarified the sauce sitch. So, not a bad place but not somewhere I’d go out of my way for again. Fuzzies and Torchy’s are not far. And, if you want amazing salsa choices, Mijo’s in Arlington cannot be beat. And they let you self-serve as much as you want.

Gipsy Lime? You bet! We’re talking about a taco taste sensation here! My only regret is that I could not try more than three… I was stuffed. These are generously filled tacos. My three… Mad Moby Dick– Adobo grilled shark and cilantro cream. Yes, please. K-Pop– Korean Bulgogi Beef and Kimchi goodness! Red Scorpion Sting– Shrimp, very spicy scorpion pepper sauce, carribean salsa and coconut mango crema! Are you kidding me?! Crazy delicious flavor combinations. My favorite! I want more. Must stretch stomach and go back soon. Oh, cool vibe to the place too. Dig it.

Ambiance/décor: artsy contemporary décor that fits the name of the establishment. What I ate/recommendations: — Bistec(tender steak taco) –spicy shrimp tacos –chicken tinga(chipotle seasoned chicken) All of the tacos I had were very flavorful. And the habenero hot sauce made them taste even better. They should sell it by the bottle. Noteworthy: –The ingredients are fresh. Lots of different hot sauces to choose from. The Habenero was my favorite. –Outlets at every booths. –Giant mirrors: –2 large tvs, good for watching tv — all day breakfast! Bar/wine: –Full bar with Dos Equis on tap! Places never have this on tap The bad/not so great: –The fans were kind of loud; loud enough for me to notice them. –there was a large spider who one of the employees was nice enough to carry outside without killing. Better a spider than a roach! Customer service: –The guy who gave me my beer was so excited because we we’r the first customer he legally served alcohol. Over all I have no complaints about the service. It’s the pay at the counter type of set up that I expect from a taco spot.

For the most part, I like this place. Tacos are good, and they have a bar. I’ve had several of their tacos. All were pretty good. But beer prices were insane. I got a draft beer, during happy hour, and it was just under $ 9! I believe this place has won the gold medal for highest priced happy hour beer. The beer cost more than two tacos and half a guac and chips. I’ll probably come back for the tacos, but never for the beer.

I am really surprised at some of the reviews I see. This place is awesome if you like to be treated to unique flavor combinations and a very cool atmosphere. If your lunch budget is 5 bucks a day, go get a happy meal. You aren’t going to get this level of quality ingredients and perfect preparation at a fast-food joint. Today I tried a tacos made from smoked brisket, an awesome BBQ sauce and the TX garnishes you want — awesome artisan pickles, mild jalepeno slices and just a touch of sweet onion. Terrific, lean & tender brisket — tender and smoky. I checked out the bar. Great local brews from Revolver, Rahr, Lakewood and others and a nice bar selection. Gotta come in some evening to give a full review. True — the lunch crowd weekdays is wall-to-wall. A testament to the great food. People vote with their feet and Gipsy Taco is getting a lot of votes!

I feel two stars is pretty generous. One star for friendly staff, especially the people who bring your food and bus the tables. One star for the salsa bar, nice heat levels, nice variety, but no free chips to go with it. The main complaint with this place is the food just isn’t up to par. Most of the meats are dry and not very flavorful, and I’ve been here 4 – 5 times trying to like the place. They serve a crispy taco shell for one taco, but if you attempt to put any other of the meats in that shell they won’t do it, makes no sense. They are obviously very proud of the food as the prices are out of this world for a taco joint. This is no velvet taco, the only taco joint I am willing to pay these prices at, and it sure is not even in the same league of Torchy’s, somewhere with 5x better food for a good amount less money. $ 5 for a small, 3 – 4 ounce queso with chips? Go across the parking lot to Taco cabana and get it for under $ 2. 4 street tacos for $ 10? When you overcharge at this level the food needs to amaze to make up for the price, and it just falls flat. Forgot to mention that when ordering sour cream on all 4 tacos, 2 got sour cream, and 2 got onions… I honestly don’t understand how you mess that up. I won’t be back.

The tacos are good, the place is clean and hip, but it is way too expensive for what you get. I would recommend going to Torchy’s Tacos. The food is just as good, if not better and much less expensive. I had 3 tacos, beans, a drink, and a side of salsa — it was $ 24 with tax. Ouch. They don’t have fresh tea, it all comes from the soda dispenser… very uncommon in Dallas. I’ve only seen places up north that serve tea this way. None of the food is very spicy… which is a must have for me when eating tacos. For the price, having to stand in line and then carry your stuff to the table, I would much rather have a steak at Saltgrass for $ 24, then 3 tacos.

After visiting this location five or six times, the service and food are constant and enjoyable. There are many Taco shops in the DFW area, but this has been a great experience. Make sure you grab a few sauces from the bar area to try with your food. My office is relocating to this area in the near future and this will be a go to spot. The bar area is not open yet, but indications is it will open soon. Make sure you stop by and try them out. 9 and 11 are two of my favorite tacos. Would be nice if they brewed their tea vs the dispensed type.

Unfortunately, I did not have a great first experience. Went during lunch time with a friend and it was packed full with people. Ordered the Al Pastor salad and it was over seasoned with something I didn’t particularly care for and drenched my salad in wetness. It ended up a soggy mess. While eating, my friend finally decides to tell me this is her second time and she didn’t care for the food either the first time or this time. I always give a restaurant a second try so I will be going back to try the tacos. I bet it’s way better. For tacos, it’s a little pricey but if the flavor is on point I usually don’t mind the cost. I really want to like this place. It’s super cute inside and nicely decorated. I ended up at Jack in the Box next door after my visit.

I have only been here for lunch, but the concept and structure of this place is definitely hip and cool for evening casual scene. Tacos are pricey but filling and creative. I will return if in the area.

I went during brunch time on a Saturday(2pm), and even though their menu stated that they were serving brunch at that time, the guy taking my order said that they weren’t! Boo, because I love brunch. So, I took advantage of their 4 street tacos for $ 10 deal. The tacos were actually pretty large. I was expecting to get itty bitty corn tortillas, but it came on flour tortillas. The meat was a bit dry though. I also liked their salsa station, although their mild salsa was very spicy in my opinion.

Meh is right. I did love the side salad, though. Pretty big for the price I also ordered the Kpop taco and the meat was dry and not flavorful. The tiny cup they give you for water is pretty ridic too. Cute space, but the place is so big and open that it’s hard to hear the people at your table talk. Or maybe I’m just getting old. Either way pass on this place.

I went here in the Unofficial Unilocal Event with a few other fellow Unilocalers. I am saddened to say that I did not enjoy the restaurant. However, I did get to meet a few cool people here. Some people in my group agreed with me that the flour tortilla tasted store-bought. I ordered the K-Pop, which is a Korean-inspired taco. The filling was overwhelmed with kimchi, and had sparing amounts of bulgogi. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a problem with kimchi, but if you’re going to sell a taco with the intent of making it «Korean», at least give me more than 2 pieces of bulgogi beef. Please! I was very disappointed. I should have known better that Mexican and Korean don’t mend very well. It should take some culinary genius to wing this. At $ 4.50 for this ONE taco, I could’ve had a much better experience at Taco Bell, and I don’t even like Taco Bell. This was the only thing I ordered. I was a little tempted on ordering other things, but I think a bad experience with one taco says enough. The restaurant interior is large and can accommodate large groups, however, it was causing conversations to echo. I had a hard time hearing people close to me… or maybe I’m just deaf.

This Fort Worth Unilocaler had lunch with a few Dallas Unilocalers yesterday. The tacos weren’t bad, but the company was better! Gipsy is much like Velvet taco and Torchy’s. I ordered the Kpop and the Carne asada street taco. I guess they got the order mixed up and I ended up with a vegetarian taco and a Unilocal buddy got my street taco. I didn’t notice until I took a bite! This is a funny tasting Carne Asada taco, I thought. Fried avocado with corn. I must say the vegetarian taco was better than the Kpop and I was looking forward to the Kpop. A korean variation of the taco. I could’ve done without the big chunks of red cabbage. The salads looked good. I don’t think I would make the drive to Gipsy on my own. However, if there was another uye there again I would.
