I drove past El Taco H for a LONG time. It sits there, so meek and unassuming on the corner of a shopping center. And honestly, there’s a lot of places to get tacos. A friend and I decided to try it, after I saw my wife’s cousin say she liked the Grapevine one. Wow. First, the fountain drinks and agua frescas come in mini pitchers. It’s genius. There are bottled sodas, cokes from mexico and Jarritos, as well as beers. But I always get the horchata. It’s sweet, with the cinnamon just right. Hot Texas summer, i have to tell you, not much is better than the horchata. You get your chips and can go look over the salsa bar. I don’t know what the green sauce is, but that’s good stuff. Hot too. We think there’s jalapenos and avocado, but we’re not sure. Salsas, cilantro, onion, limes, everything you need to dress your tacos. You can get tacos(done street style), burritos, tostadas, some really delicious options. I tried the ceviche tostada the first go round, which was delicious. But I’ve settled on the tacos. And not in a bad way. The al pastor tacos come in a sauce that really makes the tacos fantastic. The carne asada tocaos have the prefect flavor. I haven’t had the burritos, but from what I’ve seen they are big, and full of food. I saw a sign for a new chicken fried steak burrito I’m thinking of trying next time. I do have to say, I’m never sure if I’m supposed to order at the table, or the register, but they get me at the table, so I guess it doesn’t mattter? If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and try some tacos.

DH had been raving about the El Taco H in Grapevine for quite awhile, so we were pleased to see one in Irving, fairly near us. We went on a Saturday afternoon after the lunch rush, but it was still doing a brisk business at 1 p.m. I ordered an al pastor taco as well as carne asada. DH ordered a big fat burrito and it definitely was. I can’t believe he finished the whole thing. He specified no onion, no tomato and it came as ordered. My tacos were really good. Especially liked the al pastor. We sampled all of the salsas and sauces on the salsa bar and all but the creamy green(tomatillo?) were spicy hot. Good, but hot. I enjoyed putting extra cilantro, cabbage and green salsa on my tacos. Really enjoyed them. I was worried when we went in because my shoes stuck to the floor as I walked, but when we got the food, I figured out why people like the place. You order at the register and they bring the food to you. I can see how this can get a little unorganized the way it’s set up. All-in-all, I told DH I would come back any time he wants. I’ve got my eye on the carne asada fries for next time!

Enjoyed the carne asada fries. They were delicious, but nothing special. The guacamole though is amazing! If you eat within the restaurant you get free chips and can enjoy the salsa bar, however the chips are by no means fresh. The environment was extremely cool though and the waitresses were super sweet.

Great lunch spot with reasonable prices and fresh food. The dining area is decorated with a variety of beer taps, but I don’t think they actually have beer on draft. Not that it mattered, as I was there for lunch during the work week. The meal began with chips and an assortment of fresh salsa — the smoky salsa was my favorite, but the verde was a close second. I ordered the elote callejero(Mexican street corn) to start. It looked great, and was probably authentic, but the cheese was a little heavy for my taste. I also enjoyed a couple of street tacos. My favorite featured steak and avocado(on the premium list). The al pastor was decent too, although it was a bit mild and not the best I’ve had. Both were served inside double fresh corn tortillas. The service was friendly and reasonably prompt. Overall, I’ll definitely be back!

Amazing, authentic street tacos. The meat is cooked very well and the tortillas are fresh! You also can’t beat the price! Will be back!!!

I’m not 100% sold on this place. My boyfriend came here a few days ago and said this place reminded him of home. We’re from California where there is lots of fresh Mexican food. Not this Tex-Mex stuff. So you could imagine that when he told me about this place I was eager to try it out. So when you walk in, it’s decorated with luchador masks and loteria cards. I thought it was cute. Very laid back ambience. It’s a taco spot. Nothing fancy. They have a salsa bar. With several different salsas, onions and cilantro toppings. I ordered a super burrito with chicken. It was supposed to come with beams, rice, cheese, meat, sour cream and gauc. Mine was missing the guac and sour cream even though I paid extra for it. My order was to go so when I got home I obviously realized it and I didn’t wanna drive 15 minutes back to the other side of Irving. The burrito itself was good. Huge portions! Like the size of my forearm huge. Haha, next time I know I can share this beast with someone. The chicken had good flame grilled flavor and grill marks. Also, the queso dip was chunky. But not good chunky, chunky like the cheese block didn’t melt properly and also lacking some flavor. The salsas at the bar are disappointing. The chunky red and green one taste straight out of a bottle. The green guacamole salsa has potential to be really good but has little flavor. The red chili salsa is extremely smokey and spicy. I love spicy but this Wasn’t to my taste. All in all the food is pretty good. But the salsa bar really needs to be revamped. I’ll come back and try the tacos next time but it’s not gonna be my first choice when goin out.

Where do I begin? Was it the baja vibe and 80s music? Or the $ 1.70 tacos? Or the tiki bar with 6 different kinds of salsas for every kind of mexican? This place surprised by far! I was looking for a place to meet a friend with some good tacos. This place has a taco or burrito for everyone! I ordered a barbacoa, a desebrada, and a carnitas taco. I was certainly pleased with all of them but the barbacoa was my favorite simply because it sauced just right not too much. Elote is served on the cob and is a great side. They serve drinks by the can and bottle. Beer was available by can, bottle or on draft. Can’t wait to come back!

The staffs are very friendly and patient. Best part is the salsa bar. Its a hole in the wall that’s been open for almost 1.5yrs. Delicious and inexpensive. Taco $ 1.70 no topping or crispy taco for $ 2. They’re known for their large burrito, something I will have to come back to. Don’t forget to request for their VIP punch card. Punch card is good for 8 locations and for different purchases.

I ordered two tacos, brisket and pork. I attempted to add elote but they said they couldn’t sell it because they had the corn but not the stick that goes into the end for you to be able to hold it.(That was weird, and random…) So none the less, two tacos. The pork was amazingly tender and very flavorful. Seasoned to perfection. The brisket or barbacoa is always my «go to» favorite but this time I wasn’t rockin with it. It was bland — maybe they forgot to season it? I’m not sure. It wasn’t horrible but I wouldn’t order it again.(Taco snob here.) My girlfriend ordered the carne asada fries and omg they were so worth it. If your wanting to eat something that will have you feeling completely guilty afterwards — this is it. Its french fries covered in queso, steak, jalapenos, guacamole and sour cream. Its so worth it. I also loved the fixings bar. You help yourself to various salsa, jalapenos, cilantro, onions, etc. The cashier. She was… nice. When we got there she told us to wait so she could go clean a table, but there were plenty of empty tables that were clean there was only one other family in there so I thought that could have waited. She also kept answering the phone in the middle of our order which I thought was rude. There were other people there that I feel could have answered for her or she could have waited a total of 2 minutes for us to complete the order. All in all the seating area is really cute, reminds me of Denton/Austin style restuarants. And the prices you cant beat. Yes, I will return for the elote update and the guiltyyyyyy fries!

Pretty good, but not the best authentic Mexican tacos I’ve had. The fish taco just sucked but the carnitas, el pastor, barbacoa were all good. Very cramped area. Stupid app wants a longer review, don’t really know what else to say so now I’m just writing whatever comes to mind in order to make this review long enough.

The food is sub-par but the portion size and price made me give it 2 stars. DONOTEATTHECHIPS. They’re very dirty and that vat has never been cleaned out from what I’ve seen.

This was my first time visiting this place, but it won’t be my last. I’ve had it bookmarked for quite some time now and happened to be in the area tonight so decided to drop in. Ordered to go. Customer service was excellent and the turn around time was fast. Also very good prices for the portions and authenticity that you get. Tacos are 1.70 each. Homemade and authentic. I always wonder why people eat fast food when places like this exist and are cheaper and better in quality. Anyway, I ordered 3 tacos and beans and rice. The rice was amazing in flavor. The beans were just okay, but I could tell they were homemade. They were missing a pinch of salt or something to add more flavor. I got the al pastor taco, which is grilled pork with adobo sauce. It was absolutely delicious! I totally recommend this one and next time I go back, I’m getting three of them, alone. I also tried the desebrada taco, which is shredded brisket. The flavor of the brisket was very good, but the brisket was slightly dry. I would try this one again because the flavor is good. Finally, I tried the carne asada, which is marinated steak. It was good, but not as good as I expected. Steak tacos as usually my fave if I’m eating a variety of them. I was surprised that the pork was my fave. Overall, I really enjoyed my dinner and look forward to going back soon. They have a salsa bar consisting of 4 or more salsas of various variations and heat levels. The salsa verde ended up being my fave of all. But all were very good.

Super flavorful tacos at a great price! The service was wonderful and the establishment is really clean. They’re menu is simple but the food was great. You’re served chips as you wait and you can help yourself to their delicious salsa bar. All the salsas pack a good amount of heat(which I personally love) so be careful. What I ordered: 3 Tacos — Carne Asada, Al Pastor and Barbacoa + corn Carne Asada– looked dry at first but it was actually very flavorful! Al Pastor– super tender and tasted great Barbacoa– very juicy and fatty, but kinda lacked all other flavor. The corn on the cob– definitely get one! The topping can be a little decadent but it was really good. After I few bites I ended up scraping off the topping and it tasted just fine. I’m definitely coming back for more!

Was here for the first time last night and I really enjoyed it. It’s a small place but beautifully decorated. Ordered some tacos and the carne asada fries and was not disappointed at all. The service was great and the food was served quick and tasted great! Definitely will come back :)

Wow! I was not expecting the flavor and fantastic taste of the Carnita Gringo Taco and the Surf and Turf Taco! The meat was very juicy and the flavor was outstanding I just had to order another one! Round two day two! Tacos are fantastic! I was going to order the corn(Elote Callejero) however I am not a fan of spicy foods, so I asked if it was spicy. The waiter said a little bit, I chickened out and did not order it. After receiving my tacos and getting ready to eat them they brought out the corn for me to try… man I made a bad decision, the Elote Callejero was fantastic! Lots of flavor, juicy, and not too much spice, it was just right! Thank You El Taco. H you made my day! Next time I am back near DFW I will be back!

This place is a total gem! The al pastor tacos are the best tacos I’ve eaten thus far. It is very very meaty and juicy, drenched in some sort of intimidating red sauce, which is actually not spicy at all so don’t freak out like I did! Your mouth won’t burn like Hell broke loose in it, trust me. You be aight. And with the onions and cilantro, the flavor is definitely brought out to life. Al pastor tacos has some fatty meats in it, though, so if you don’t like that then this one isn’t for you. My other two were the marinated steak tacos. These ones were too salty in my opinion, and the meat was on the dry side. Because it was so salty, I couldn’t even taste the onions or cilantro that I added in. I’m so glad I only got two of the steak tacos, because my other half with the two al pastor tacos made up for these for sure. Also on the side were spicy spicy sauces and some spicy thin onion slices which resemble kimchi but sike because it’ll tear your mouth apart. Their super burrito is indeed SUPER sized! You can ask for it to come with everything and they’ll stuff it with your choice of meat, guacamole, rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, etc. I thought Chipotle had huge burritos, but man. If there was ever a burrito fight, my money is gonna be on El Taco H Super Burrito, hands down. This will fill you up like no other. My older brother could barely fit this in his belly. It has to be at least three burritos in one, which means I’d only finish about a third of this big boss lol. If you order water, they put it in a large pitcher for you. It’s crazy. I’ve never been to a place where they hand everyone a pitcher of water before haha. I like it, though. I suppose it’s efficient instead of going around and giving refills to everyone. When you’re seated, they serve free chips and salsa to your table. Their salsa is so delicious but it’s freaking spicy in my opinion, and I’m weak in the spice area. The pitcher of water comes in handy here. Service is extremely friendly. I loved our waitress so much. She was very attentive and all smiles. Easy to order too because she speaks English fluently! I’ll definitely come back with new friends to challenge the super burrito. PS– In the women’s bathroom, there is a framed picture of a luchador and he is positioned in a way that makes his eyes look directly at you while you’re doing your business… I thought this was hilarious. It’ll make you a bit self conscious, just saying lolol. What if his eyes move??? Dayumz. We effed, girls.

great tacos at a great price. talk about diamond in the rough! this place is basically in walking distance of my house, and I pass it almost every day and have never stopped in. So my mom and I decided to give it a try! I was pleasantly surprised, the menu is simple and at a great price! they have an awesome salsa bar, self serve unlimited chips, and they serve their water in mini pitchers! the elotes was amazing. their queso was great, they have cheap beer pitchers and a wide verity of Mexican sodas and cold beers. Speaking of beers they serve them in frosted mugs which is always a plus. they’ve got a couple of TVs and an outside eating area if the weather is nice. I has a pleasant experience and especially with this place being so close to my house I will absolutely be back!

Great little hole in the wall Mexican food place. They did provide table service and the server was very nice and pleasant. Food was very tasty and inexpensive. I had the street tacos with steak and they were delicious. The place was very clean and service was good. 3 of us had lunch for under $ 19. Great bargain.

Not too bad for a small taco joint. $ 1.50 tacos, $ 2.50 street corn, $ 2 draft beer and $ 5 draft pitchers. There’s a salsa bar too. There don’t have a happy hour but prices are so cheap you don’t really need one. I give 4 stars for prices, portion and great flavor. The street corn was amazing!
