Need passport pictures for my Canadian passport and this place was perfect! Thank you!

One of the ONLY places in Dallas that knows how to properly process a CANADIAN PASSPORT photo. For those not familiar, Canadian passports have very strict requirements when it comes to the photo (size, expression, lighting, shadow, etc.) — it is rare to find a studio that is well aware of these requirements and APV is one of those studios.
The employees are very kind and humorous. I’ll definitely be back!

I hate how I come out in pictures and it causes me to be extra picky. So I decided to come here based on the reviews and I was not disappointed.
I told him I wanted my head to be the maximum size the passport requirements allowed and he listened. I also instructed him to minimize appearance of a double chin. I asked him to take a few photos from a slightly elevated angle to minimize my double chin, so he took pics from on top of a stool. I had asked him to show me the picture before he printed, to avoid issues, but another person came in and he got distracted with her. Turned out not to be an issue, but I would have had to ask for a redo if I hadn’t liked it.
Excitedly enough, my picture came out awesome and my expectations were surpassed. The lighting in the picture is great (I was like glowing) and I have a feeling he did a few touch ups to it, no double chin. I will say that I was a bit of producer and had to give him some direction, although the only knowledge I have is from taking selfies. I definitely echo the previous reviewer in wishing I could have all my ID pictures taken here.
The cost is more from what you might spend at the post office/​Walgreens. But what you are paying for is the professional skill, great lighting, and attention. Most of the time the pictures you get at the post office are in dark rooms and you have no say in posing. Bottom line — this palace is for people who want a better chance at getting a good picture for your passport and do not mind spending a few more dollars.

Super Crazy Terry is super crazy GREAT!!! My wife and I are dual citizens and needed our Canadian passports renewed. We have both had passports rejected in the past from Canada due to photos not adhering 100% to their requirements. Terry KNOWS what he is doing. The customer who wrote a review stating Terry wrote the date in pen instead of a stamp which made the photo invalid was either wrong or got someone at the passport department in Canada who was wrong. The fact is that it clearly states on the current passport instructions page that the date CAN be printed in pen OR stamped. However, due to this misunderstanding, Terry has switched to using a date stamp just to put his customers at ease. Not only were our pictures approved by the Canadian passport agency, they were also good pictures (as good as a picture can be when you’re not allowed to smile).
Having gone through the aggravation of having pictures rejected in the past, I urge you to make the drive out to Super Crazy Terry who will joke with you but trust me, he is serious about making sure your photos will be accepted.
Yes, he does sell various items like shampoos and soaps to help his revenue but so what! We bought some inexpensive conditioner there and love it LOL!
Terry is a nice guy who loves to joke around and also does a great job. I wish we had more Terry’s to deal with every day.

After reading this website, which states they do make reprints, called the store to see if they indeed made prints from negatives, only to be curtly told «No. No more. Thank you. [click]» as he hung up. Very rude.
Go to Arlington Photo on the corner of Randol Mill and Cooper– they still do it all!

Great place to get a high quality passport or immigration photo for any country. Owner is very friendly and funny. Also sells some drug store items too. Overall I would highly recommend it.

The only place I would trust in DFW for passport, visa or photos for documents. The owner knows what he is doing.
No hassle of rejection or re-​doing because of bad photos which happen ton of times when you use cvs, walmart etc.,

Needed to get Canadian passport photos done & I couldn’t have picked a better place to go. As soon as I walked in the door the owner had all of the requirements ready for me and was very friendly. Was in and out in no time, excellent customer service, & the quality of the photos was superb. Was definitely worth the drive, highly recommend!

He is a life saver when it comes to Canadian passport or visa photo. He knows how to do it correctly. I had my son’s photo done here and was out in 15 min with a smile on my phase.

When I took my photos to Canada for my new passport, we realized that the date was WRITTEN IN PEN on the back. He used a stamp for the location but not the date. It made them invalid. It ended up being a complete waste of money. Make sure that he stamps everything on the back of your Canadian passport for it to be valid! He did everything else so well that I wish I didn’t have to change my review.

I discovered Affordable Photo Lab through Unilocal while I was looking for pictures for Canadian visa and UK visa. I was worried since the drug store picture services don’t do anything other than a standard US passport photo requirement.
The owner here is friendly and pays a lot of attention to detail. He took the two different photo requirements and gave me two different types of pictures which exactly fit the requirements! He showed me the sizes of the digital pictures and made sure all the requirements are met. The photo itself is better than the one I took at a Walgreens a couple of years back. The service is slightly pricey but it’s quick.

I had to get a Canadian passport photo. The photographer/​owner paid very good attention to detail. The specifications for a Canadian passport picture are very strict. We went through all the criteria before and after. A little expensive ($ 32) but worth it in the end.

Bottom Line: Best Passport Picture You’ll Ever Have.
I travel to Irving, TX quite a bit for business and decided to have my passport picture taken here vs. back home in DC. I researched for a good quality service in this area and APV had very flattering reviews. I decided to give it a shot and went with a colleague of mine yesterday after work. Sincerely, I can tell you that the photographer knows how to do his job and he does it very well. The picture portrays me at my best and finally I will enjoy an official travel document that I am not ashamed of… As a matter of fact, I will be proud to show it off! If I could have all of my ID pics (driver’s license, office badge and what more) taken by APV, I would gladly do it! It is worth every penny and every mile of the road. The atmosphere is easy, nothing fancy but what matters is the results and you won’t be disappointed. The lighting and the hand of the photographer along with a great camera is probably what does the trick. If you are about to renew your passport and are undecided whether to do it at CVS or else where, don’t waste your time. Go to APV, you’ll thank me later :)

Like many of the prior reviewers, I found APV through a search for passport photos. I agree that the owner is very nice and I was greeted promptly and warmly.
I cannot dispute that the passport photos here are better than they are at CVS or Walgreens (where some employee just snaps a quick pic with a digital camera– thanks I could have done that myself), but I do feel his skills as photographer are lacking a bit. The first time I had to seek out an actual photographer for a government ID photo (while living in Chicago), I was really pleased with the resulting picture. This time, I think I might go somewhere else and have another picture done rather than living with this one for 10 years until my next renewal.
For those of you who are price conscious, US passport photos are about $ 5 more here than as advertised at other locations. In short, I wouldn’t travel out of your way to get a passport photo done here.
Oh, and I almost forgot to add: evidently he is turning his studio into a convenience store to help pay the bills. The minute you walk in, nearly every surface is covered with snacks, toiletries, and sundries. It’s maybe 50 feet door to door to Kroger– is this really necessary?

I found this photo shop through a web search to get a passport photo. Upon entering, I was warmly welcomed and shown examples of the owner’s work as compared to other, chain locations that produce these photos. I was greatly impressed by the quality of his work, as well as the affordable price (note, he only takes cash or checks, no credit cards). After sitting for the photo, my prints were ready in about 5 minutes. Very well done, extremely profession and I was treated to a little comic relief from the owner while I waited. Will definitely return here in the future and recommend him to anyone needing quality photos at a very reasonable price.

I found myself out by the airport with some time to kill on a day off and put my trust in Google/​Yelp for a place to get a Canadian passport photo after a simply disastrous waste of time at CVS.
If three previous FIVE STAR reviews aren’t enough for you, take it from the guy that never writes Unilocal reviews that my experience here was so good I simply had to say thanks to this business with my own.
Photos? Perfect.
Technical knowledge of the various nuances of international passport photo requirements? Flawless.
Price? Fair and worth every penny.
And if that’s not enough the 15 minutes I spent in this shop with the proprietor were genuinely a good time. We had a good laugh about what the internets thought of him and he wanted me to say he was crazy, so to avoid any possibility of negative confusion I’ll just say he was crazy awesome!

I took a leap of faith on the other review for Affordable Photo Lab and I’m glad I did.
It’s a small shop in Plymouth Park so i wasn’t sure what to expect. The owner was very friendly from the minute I came through the door. He was excited to meet me.
He showed me the difference in some passport photos that some people had done at other places and what he had done for them. His photos are, well, practically perfect.
Trust me I do not photograph well but I am overly pleased with my passport photos. The light he shoots the photos in is good and I actually look like myself!
I only had to wait about five minutes for the finished product. Totally worth the $ 16 for the 2 passport photos.
Just so you know, he only accepts cash and checks so make sure you have those when you go.
I highly recommend this shop to everyone looking for a passport photo or just getting some studio shots. I would highly recommend to any budding actor for headshots as well. Or if you need some nice photos for a dating site, this would be a great place for that too!

Great place to go for a quick international passport photo. The guy there knew his stuff. He had all the passport photo documentation right there for you to review with him. He even measured my photos with me afterwards so that I felt confident about them being correct.
The store itself is kind of cheesy but once you get past that its a nice and courteous place.
