Ute’s Kinderschule

I can’t say enough good things about Ute and her Kinderschule. Ute is an enthusiastic, creative person who has a passion for teaching and for helping kids find the wonder in the world we live in. My daughter was in Ute’s Kinderschule during the 2013 – 2014 school year before she entered kindergarten. Some of my daughter’s most memorable moments at the school were watching the process of young chicks hatching from their eggs, helping make healthy homemade lunches (she still asks for the green –spinach– soup), singing songs and listening to stories in the German language, playing at the nearby playground, doing special crafts, and our field trip to the Irvine Regional Park. Ute’s instruction supports Rudolf Steiner’s Waldorf education pedagogy that emphasizes imagination in learning and the holistic development of a child’s intellectual, practical, and artistic development. Her school day honestly embodies this philosophy. As a former teacher at the Anneliese School in Laguna Beach, Ute is well-​versed in what students need academically and socially as they prepare for elementary school. Ute has helped our family carry on our German traditions by organizing annual family event: Laternazug in Nov, a Gingerbread-​making evening in Dec, and a fun Easter egg hunt/​pot luck brunch. The families we have met through Ute’s Kinderschule have been like-​minded in seeking out a school that provides bilingual German-​English instruction, that is committed to developing the whole child, that is small enough to provide each child with lots of individual attention, and most importantly, a school that provides a safe and very loving environment for our children. I had the pleasure of working with Frau Ute for several years when she taught German in the Deutsche Schule. I have never met another teacher who is so enthusiastic about children and cares so greatly about their well being and education. She is an amazing individual and the kids just love her.
I have seen her new Kinderschule and the program she has in place for her young pupils. The program is such that each child learns through fun filled activities and is guided in the process by someone who has an infinite amount of patience and love. I can not say enough about Frau Ute and her Kinderschule other than that the kids who are fortunate enough to get one of the limited available spots are very fortunate.

My son was enrolled in Frau Ute’s class until Kindergarten (this year 2013 – 2014). We absolutley adored her. My son developed so much academically that it amazed us. She has a philosophy of developing and nurturing the «whole child». Learing about caring for our planet, what foods should be put in our bodies and foreign language, were a few my son’s favorite topics. My son would come home singing songs and counting in German and Chinese! She is well traveled through different countries and brings her stories to our children. It opened up my son’s eyes to a whole world that does’nt seem to be forgien or scary to him, but exciting. I felt as if my son is so much more cultured than I! She also seems to capture the children’s attention in the most creative ways in which a raised voice is never needed! (A skill I’ve yet to learn at times!) She has the most balanced quality with kids of being nurturing and compassionate, but at the same time stern. My son really respected Frau Ute and loved her to death. My whole family adored Frau Ute, and forever grateful for the time our son was with her.

We were in Frau Ute’s class last year. She is a loving teacher, and truly enjoys her profession. She treats the children with respect, dignity and is gentle and kind. She is extremely vested in the children, and fabulous especially for young children. I cannot say enough great things!

Ms. Ute (Frau Ute) is a phenomenal and talented teacher. My 4 year old daughter is currently in her class this year and my husband and I have seen her progress both academically and socially. My daughter sings songs in different languages: German, French, Spanish, Chinese and English and can also count in those languages. For the spring show, Frau Ute was able to organize a group of 4 year old children to perform a German song and dance. She is loving, kind, but also stern and the children are disciplined when necessary.
Frau Ute’s philosophy is that the first few years of life is critically important and each child should be loved so they can feel secure and confident later in life. My daughter really enjoys being with Frau Ute. When I pick her up from school early, she wants to stay longer. If this school was closer to my house, I would enroll my son. I would recommend Frau Ute to any parent who was looking for a great teacher for their children.
