Sued Toshiba computer for breach of warranty contract. — Laptop failed within warranty. Total nighmare getting support. Then they tired to bill me $ 179.00 …for warranty repairs (screen went blank).
After argueing with corporate, the agreed to «waive the fee» for repair…
then contacted me later and said «we dont have the parts — will offer a replacement — different model» they sent a larger, heavier, less compact replacement that was in need of repairs!
I sued them in small claims. and won… a whopping $ 330.00. :-((and i get to keep the junk replacement they sent… thats in need of repair…)
Now… of course. they arent paying… and forcing me get a «writ of execution» to force them to pay… a whopping $ 330.00. Horrible company. They will inconvenience you to death before lifting a finger… to do the right thing… wether it be providing warranty support or paying a court judgement… Please pass this on. it should be illegal. let alone horribley unethical.

Bought a laptop for my 11-​year old daughter. Eight months after purchase the screen ceased to function (no crack or physical damage and within warranty period). I paid the $ 30 fee Toshiba charged to send me a box to ship my laptop to their repair center. They then emailed me that my unit had a «crack in the memory» and that such physical damage was not covered under the warranty. They said I would have to pay $ 80 to have them repair the unit. I asked via email and phone calls for more specifics (what type of memory, location of memory, pics, etc.) before I agreed to pay for repairs. They never provided any response to my questions. To my surprise the unit was shipped back to me un-​repaired and I was out the $ 30 shipping fee.
All memory components are housed within the laptop. My daughter certainly did not disassemble the unit and physically damage internal components. She never dropped the unit. My local Fry’s Manager says Toshiba laptops run hotter than most and this creates more repair issues. Summary of my Toshiba experience: (1) manufactured a defective unit; (2) failed to honor the terms of the warranty; and (3) caused me to waste $ 30 on shipping.
I had Toshiba products in the 80s and 90s which were fine. However, today this company is in decline and does not focus on performance at any level.

I have to echo what so many others have said about the Satellite laptops. Very shortly after my purchase, the computer started malfunctioning. While these may have been good laptops at one time, that is no longer the case.

My satellite laptop does not hv a dedicated mute button or the volume control! It really isnt easy or convenient to do such things every time by nevigating thru their software!
And now my spacebar is getting jammed so I have to continuously go back and edit what i have typed!

Just wanted to give a quick update. Nearly six months gone by since I got my laptop back from Toshiba. It has ran basically flawless since they repaired it for me. I have had no failures, or device manager conflicts, and everything is working just as it should.

Don’t buy any of Toshiba computers, PC or laptop. Toshiba sells useless junks they knew or should have known are defective. They’ll lie to you during the warranty repair period, assuring you that problems will be fixed. After warranty expires, you are still left with their useless junk. Don’t bother calling them back after warranty expires. They’ll accuse you of wanting to get a «free» repair service to fix the original problem that you’ve already wasted countless hours with their customer service not to mention shipping costs. When you ask for their supervisor, they’ll say you’ve reached the highest level of Toshiba you can possibly reach.
