I’ve been a patient here since 2003 and I highly recommend Spectrum Dental. I trust Dr. Wu! He has been my dentist for a very long time & I have full confidence in him. He is always professional, patient, answers all my questions (even the silly ones), etc. My husband eventually started going there too & my daughter & our twins. I am currently getting my braces done there too & so I get to see Dr. Wu & his staff more often. I love his staff — Jackie, Liz, & Kim. They are always happy to see me. They make my visit there more enjoyable! I can hang out there all day! Jackie is always sweet & friendly. Liz & Kim, the assistants, always make me feel at ease especially those moments where I was feeling some discomfort. I willingly open my mouth to them knowing with full confidence that they know what they are doing. And they make extra effort to be gentle with me. I also get my teeth cleaned every 3 months. Both hygienists are great — they are gentle & give you that extra TLC to cleaning your teeth. Dr. Dory is great too! She’s been the dentist for all my 3 kids.

The moment I walked into this place, I’ve never felt so at home. The office seems pretty modern, and the entire staff here was so friendly. Came in for a normal routine cleaning, and Jess did a really thorough job getting all of those nasty stains out. As a first time patient, my teeth were x-​rayed and Dr. Wu explained everything to on the computer screen. And at the end, they gave me 2 FREE MOVIE TICKETS. Who does that?

Have been here a few times now. Everyone hates the dentist right? But Dr. Wu and his staff are amazing at making you feel comfortable and relaxed when you’re in the chair. The environment is kid friendly too. Like the Disney of dental offices.
The facility is also super clean and state of the art. I’ve referred a co-​worker there and she loved it as well. Cleanings are a jiff… the hygienists are super friendly and conscious of not causing you any pain. It’s been back to back to back great experiences for me here! Oh and they also have a library of movies for you to watch if you’re getting a lengthy procedure done like getting a crown… yuck. But lots of movies… yay!

After having my fillings, braces, whitening, and wisdom teeth extraction done here, I can say with confidence that this place is exceptional. The overall experience you get here is warm, caring and professional.
First of all, the staff here are kind and helpful. They’re easy to talk to and very polite. They also answer all my questions and reassure me with whatever concerns I may have.
The actual procedures I’ve had (fillings, extractions, braces, etc.) all went fairly well. I’ve always been a bit afraid of dentists growing up, but that feeling quickly dissipated when I came here. I rarely felt much pain at all since they numb you up well. And the physical work done was fast, to the point and professional. It’s as simple as that.
Pricing and payment are also straight forward. Although my insurance only partially covers dental work and barely covers ortho work, I’m still able to afford all the services. They are very thorough with their breakdowns and are nice enough to work something out if you need it (poor college student here haha).
Ambience and the office itself: The office is well kept and nice looking. They have your typical stack of magazines in the waiting room, toys and kid friendly rooms for children to play in, and movies to watch in select rooms (when getting dental work done). Feel free to ask for water or take home toothbrushes/​floss.
Final thoughts: This place is great. Don’t let a bad review or comment deter you from trying this place out. People tend to be skeptical when they see/​read anything remotely negative, but there’s a reason why there have been so many consistent, good reviews posted here.

Let’s be honest here. Most of us dread going to the dentist. It’s safe to say we only go because it’s generally nice to have teeth and to be able to keep them (understatement). Do you like to chew your food? (I, for one, find liquid diets to be boring and unsatisfying). Do you like to sleep through the night without nagging toothaches? Do you cringe at the idea of missing teeth? If you’ve answered «yes» to any of the above questions, it’s time to see a dentist! I’ve had some traumatic and less than stellar experiences with various previous dentists, so it was important to find a skilled dentist and a support staff that I trusted.
I found just that at Spectrum Dental Group! Besides being skilled and trustworthy, Dr. Wu is intellectually curious, passionate, detail-​oriented, approachable, and friendly. (Yes, I realize that’s an eyeful/​mouthful.) He’s very good at what he does, but most importantly, he deeply cares about his work and his patients. It’s fascinating to hear him explain your x-​rays, your procedures, your options in treatment, and the latest technology involved. Also, don’t let his sometimes serious demeanor fool you. When you least expect it, he’s going to crack a joke that makes you chuckle. Dentist and stand-​up comedian! What more can you ask for, right?
But wait, there’s more! Clean, shiny office and modern equipment: check! Playroom for your screaming kids: check! Free toothbrushes to take home: check! You know you like freebies. Don’t lie. Best of all, this dental group has the best support staff you can hope for!
You got Jackie: super-​friendly, very capable (super multi-​tasker), and professional receptionist with a side of home-​girl flair (think «besties» or people who you just light up your day). Her bubbly personality and laughter are downright infectious!
You got Kim (Kimmy): super helpful and kind RDA (Registered Dental Assistant). Kimmy is also so accommodating/​helpful that she once went to get her lipstick out of her purse just so I could know exactly what lip color she was wearing.
Then, you got Adriana: best dental hygienist I’ve had so far. Extremely thorough, detailed, and patient. Yay for shiny, squeaky clean teeth! She’s also a blast to chat with!
Last, but not least, you got Lizzie: a super sweet, patient RDA. She is downright amazing with kids, sort of like a «kid-​whisperer.» She also calms «big kid» nerves too!
Most importantly, every single member of the support staff mentioned above is rock-​solid in terms of capability and skill!

CAN YOU IMAGINE, having a noticeable Over bite all your LIFE, BUT having your Dentist FIX IT… Without Braces?
Well my upper teeth had an Overbite and It bothered me.
I mentioned it to him at end of my appointment to get one of his «Signature Same day Crowns, done to perfection,» … that my overbite bothered me.
He checked my teeth and said I had very strong and Thick enamel, therefore he could reshape my teeth, shave down the OVERBITE, and reshape my teeth and edges to be more feminine and fit my face, smile etc.
Well, 15 min later, he kept the mirror till He was Done …

I took my First Look at his Cosmetic Creation and I about CRIED in Delight!
My Life long OVERBITE was shaved down, my teeth no longer rest on my lip and I don’t need braces for it!
THE edges on teeth were once squared, too wide, HE rounded them into perfect shape, as Veneers would have done. !!! :))))
The crown was perfect, no bite adjustment needed, as always.
I’ve been a patient 5 yrs„ have recommended Dr. WU to total strangers .
Never did I think, I could achieve a SMILE that I AM HAPPY about, NOT self conscious any more, and avoid braces!
Every ones teeth are different.
But fact I have thick enamel, turns out Dr. Wu’s eye for detail and his proficiency in Cosmetic Dentistry, HE recognized that the amount of Overbite I had, could be shaved down without harming my teeth at.
As I move out of OC to LA, to embark on a new chapter of my life… from my heart, I HONESTLY Recommend Dr. Wu as the ONLY Dentist to trust with your teeth.

Found this place on Unilocal and wasn’t sure what to expect upon my arrival. However, after visiting their website I learned to print out and fill out all the appropriate forms before coming in (a huge time saver)… Shortly after I called to make an appointment and they were able to accommodate my hectic schedule… Once I had arrived for my appointment I was greeted at the door by the most amazing workers… Got a nice tour of the facility… And received the most detailed… Educational… Cleaning/​dental visit ever!!! Everyone there is super nice and helpful!!! Just remember DONT FORGET TO FLOSS!!!

I’m finally finished with my braces! I’m both super happy with the results and excited to have them off but also just a little sad that I won’t be seeing the super friendly and nice people at Spectrum Dental as often ;) even though I rushed Dr. Wu in terms of ending my treatment in under 18 months my teeth are perfectly curved and aligned!
A little throw back, when I first stepped into Spectrum Dental Group I haven’t been to a dentist in YEARS… I used to go ALOT when I was younger but just hated it so much I stopped going. But I’ve yet to dread an appointment with Dr.Wu. Well maybe a little before the appointment to put on my braces… Haha and for my extraction. But that’s normal right? And the nurses really really always tried their very best to make sure I’m emotionally prepared and know exactly what’s going on with each procedure and possible feelings I’d have after.
For my 3 wisdom teeth extraction Dr. Wu suggested that I take them all out in one «operation» because it is a surgery that requires full anesthesia and he doesn’t want to dose my system multiple times with such strong anesthesia (a dentist that cares about more than just dental health!) But literally I ate the anesthetic pill and one moment I was talking with my boyfriend waiting for it to kick in and the next I was home and in bed about 6 hours later! My boyfriend said I woke up after the surgery to groggily say bye to everyone and was giving him driving directions… But I honestly don’t remember anything till I woke up at home haha. So I can only say that the surgery went amaaazingly smooth (how else can I not feel anything?) which is actually pretty amazing considering I have extremely extremely large teeth in a smallish jaw and none of my wisdom teeth were actually surfacing so I’m guessing (since I really have no recollection) they had to dig pretty deep to get to the teeth and only one was extracted intact, the other two kinda had to be made into smaller pieces or something. Anyways I didn’t really feel much pain that night either and was able to actually eat a noodle dinner and some soft veggies!
After I had my braces removed I had some pretty bad staining (I really couldn’t stay away from curry for 2 years!!! Lol) but braces came with a complementary Zoom whitening. And let me just say that I was really scared going in because of so many accounts of how sore and painful the procedure is and how people still felt the ziiing pain days after. Well I really don’t have a high tolerance for pain but the nurse was so nice and soothing and careful about protecting everything I made it through 4 treatments (3 is already considered ideal) and got close to 5 or more shades brighter! (Can’t tell how much more because I went a little beyond the whitest on the natural white scale. From really really yellow teeth) literally my teeth was so yellow before I’ve had people tell me it actually aged my appearance! :(well I have super bright teeth now and really I think the nurse was more worried about making me comfortable and than I was uncomfortable! They gave me this amazing cream for my teeth afterwards to help grow back enamel and I was eating with no problem at all within 30 minutes of leaving their office! While I did occasionally feel a sudden ziiing that night, I was totally fine the next morning… As if I never did the treatment at all… Except my teeth were so white!
Ohh one more thing I don’t know if they can always do this as I usually go in during less busy weekdays for longer appointments, but several time when I’d needed longer appointments and they let me choose a movie to watching during my procedure, they let my boyfriend inside to watch with me too and I just thought it’s really nice and thoughtful of them. :) and it doesn’t apply for me but they have a pretty inviting looking playroom for kids!
Sooo anyways. I’d highly recommend Dr. Wu and just the whole team at spectrum dental group because they’re all so professional and knowledgable about what they’re doing, but most importantly they really care about their patients, takes the time to get to know them and really adds a personalized touch to whatever procedure they’re doing so that it is not just a generic «best» but the best for the patient.

My boyfriend was a new client and we went there to get one of his infected wisdom tooth pulled out. Dr. Wu recommended he get all four pulled out and we did. The staff and the receptionist are very nice and the environment was great untill the extraction procedure started. It was painful for me to watch.
They cleaned his teeth and the assistant inserted 4 needles into his gums for the anesthesia and they waited for about 20 – 30 minutes for that to kick in. Then when they started the extraction my boyfriend was not numbed by the amount of anesthesia given and he said he could feel the doctor working on his tooth. Throughout the entire procedure the Dr. Wu continued to needle my boyfriend for at least 6 – 7 more anesthesias. Forgive me if that is a common situation for teeth extractions, but my personal experience was nothing close to that. I was given one anesthesia and then everything was done and I still felt numbed.
Are they giving kids and adults the same amounts of anesthesia, without considering the effects on different people? I dont understand, but I will definitely not recommend any of my friends to get teeth extractions there.

These guys are fantastic! Very short waiting times, their staff is friendly, knowledgable, and genuinely caring. Their office is well maintained and beautifully decorated, and best of all, they really know how to make you comfortable in the dentist chair. I had them remove my wisdom teeth just a week ago, and I was so impressed by how quick and easy the process was (especially after all of the horror stories I’d heard from friends and family about their own wisdom teeth extractions!)
The process was explained to me clearly, my concerns were addressed, and they gave me simple but detailed care instructions to avoid any painful issues during recovery. To top it all off, their follow up care has been incredible! If it were possible to give an even higher rating I would do it with no hesitation. If you need dental care and live anywhere remotely close to this area, go to these guys! You won’t regret it.

I would highly recommend Dr. Wayne Wu at Spectrum Dental Group. He is very professional and knowledgeable in his line of work. One of the key point which I respect the most is that he really explains the details of the x-​rays and concerns and never once felt he was every trying up-​sale me additional dental work or products I really don’t need (my past dentist (s) seem to always be pushing something on me). The front desk lady Jacqueline! and the staff is very friendly, the office is extremely clean, has high-​end and up-​to-​date digital equipment and very well organized. It’s nice to find a dentist who you can trust and is looking out for your best interest of all your dental needs. Thank you Dr. Wu!

Took my two year old to see Dr. Yokoyama who was spectacular. She was very friendly, quick and effective. My son received a toy afterwards for a reward. The facility was very clean and the staff was absolutely wonderful and extremely friendly. I would recommend coming here.

I recommend spectrum dental group. Dr. Wu is a great dentist who took the time to explain my X-​rays etc. He took extra care with my teeth and very pleased with the cleanliness of the office and its updated office equipment. Plus, I never met any receptionist like Jacqueline! She is such a blessing to see and chat with during my time at the dentist. She makes you smile and always makes my day!
I had a choice a few months ago to decide to stay with my PPO insurance or not. Spectrum dental group only takes PPO but I decided stay with my PPO insurance because I really like Dr Wu and his staff. No need to look for another dentist if you already found one you like.

This review is long overdue but I also feel compelled to write this bc I don’t agree with some of the 1 star reviews here. I’ve been coming here for over 3 years — initially because I was looking for a pediatric dentist for my kids. Dr. Dorothy came highly recommended from a friend and I have since referred other friends here. My experiences with other pediatric dentists ranged from terrible to just meh but Dr. D. is outstanding. She definitely knows how to handle kids and she’s very fast which makes the whole process that much easier. The staff are excellent too and it’s clear they enjoy and know how to work with kids — you’d be surprised how rare that is. I mean my 8 year old actually WANTS to go to the dentist!
After such good experiences with Dr. D. I decided to consult with Dr. Wu for my own teeth grinding problem. He said that braces would be the best solution for me as I had already worn through several mouth guards and still had terrible neck and jaw pain to the point where I couldn’t even sleep anymore. The constant grinding had actually caused me to crack two teeth and contract a horrible sinus infection for over a year as the bacteria from my mouth had traveled into my sinuses. I had already been to no less than 7 other dentists and spent over 5K on dental implants and mouth guards and still had the grinding. All the dentists either couldn’t diagnose the problem, didn’t believe my complaints, or just kept telling me to use mouth guards (which wasn’t working anymore). I actually had one dentist tell me I just had to floss more! Dr. Wu is exceptional in that not only is he a perfectionist with his technique but he ACTUALLY LISTENS to you. He was the only dentist who recommended braces. Listening to patients is something few healthcare providers actually do and I can’t overemphasize this enough. I’m a healthcare professional myself and am very picky when it comes to technique as I have worked with MANY surgeons and oral surgeons and know good technique. He also takes the time to explain the details and why he is doing what he is doing.
And for those reviewers who gripe bc their appoint went a little longer than usual — please, isn’t your healthcare more important than making your hair appt? That’s the nature of the beast, sometimes surgery or dental procedures just take longer because every patient’s condition is different. Going to the doctor isn’t the same as going to the carwash! I personally would rather have my doctor take his time to do it right, then rush through it because he is trying to cram in as many patients as possible, would’t you?
I can’t comment too much on the billing issues, but I have never had an issue and they have always been very clear and accommodating with my billing needs. I think the people who complain about the prices don’t know how their dental insurance works. Most dental insurance plans barely cover anything other than the most basic preventative stuff and they definitely don’t cover braces. Braces aren’t cheap but at least I know that I’m getting them done right.
Although I still have a few more months to go with the braces, I’ve been happy with the results so far. The grinding has definitely been reduced and I’m sleeping much better now. Sure it’s a pain having braces when you’re forty, but after having gone through my dental nightmare with 7 other dentists, I’m very happy with Spectrum Dental. Their staff is great from the receptionist to the hygienists — it makes such a difference when the support people are genuinely pleasant. Several times, I’ve had to pop in last minute to get something adjusted and have always been treated quickly with courtesy and smiles all around even when I forgot about an appointment ;)
The office is a bit difficult to find now bc of all the construction off Sand Canyon but it’s right off the 5 hwy next to Denny’s.

I have been coming to Spectrum Dental for over 2 years now. Originally, I had just moved to Irvine from out of state and looked for a dentist that was close by. I have since moved to northern OC, but have no plans to look for another dentist. Everyone here is very friendly, all of my visits have been a pleasure. Dr. Wu takes his time to answer any questions in detail and describe all available options. In the two years, I’ve had several fillings done, regular teeth cleaning and check ups. They also consulted me on wisdom teeth extraction and referred me to a great oral surgeon. Highly recommend this practice to anyone.

I have been going to Dr. Wu for 3 years and had multiple fillings and a crown done there. The staff is super friendly, office is the nicest ever and the professionalism top notch! They perform digital X-​ray and can create crowns using on site equipment. No temporary crown nonsense! I don’t know if their prices are competitive or not and I really don’t care because they are the ultimate in convenience and customer attention. I don’t look forward to getting dentistry performed like most people, this office is as good as it gets!

Spectrum Dental is by far the best dental practice I have ever gone to. I went 3plus years without seeing a dentist due to my extreme dental fear and past bad experiences. Dr. Wu and his staff always on very visit go above and beyond to make sure my comfort is their priority. I have never been mislead on pricing or insurance quotes. Some of those other reviews seem to me like the patient doesn’t understand how their insurance works. It’s not the offices/​Drs fault if your insurance doesn’t pay as expected. Anyway Dr. Wu has a very clean, professional, caring team and I would recommend anyone to their office.

I have been coming to Spectrum Dental Group for the past two years and I am very happy with Dr. Wu, Dr. Chen, Jacky, Lizzy, and the rest of the staff here. In the past two years, I’ve had regular teeth cleaning, check-​ups, and two gum graft procedures here. Usually, I’m not a big fan of dental procedures but I must say that the friendliness of the staff here makes me feel at ease. Dr. Wu offers great advice on keeping that nice bright shining smile on your face and Dr. Chen’s surgical skills are top notch. My two gum graft procedures all went very smoothly.
Jacky is very prompt at calling my insurance and getting me an accurate quote as fast as possible. I’ve never had any surprises at checkout. I would definitely keep coming here and refer my friends and family.

I’m with Titus, and the few others that started off with positive impressions of this place only to be slapped with a huge bill — far above what was quoted — months after dental work was completed. My hubby needed a couple of fillings and a cleaning — we paid around $ 600 out of pocket. Then, they came back to us, six months later wanting $ 300 more. For a few fillings and a cleaning, $ 900?! Really?!
Plus, Dr. Wu said I needed a filling swapped out this year — another cool $ 700, and when I got another opinion, the second dentist advised against it. I think Dr. Wu may be «crown happy,» and overselling them, because he makes them onsite. Buyers BEWARE. They’ll quote you one thing, say your insurance will pay, then come back to you for the balance. #HowConvenientForThem

My previous dentist sucks. He has very poor skills and an annoying wife. Everytime I go visit he’ll tell me I have a cavity, but I didn’t… so he basically drilled in my teeth for no reason just to earn income.
On the other hand, Dr. Wu has much better skills. He taught me how to effectively clean my teeth. He actually cares about the well being of his patients. The receptionist who works there is pretty nice as well.
